According to Dan Rafael Gary Lockett could the next opponent of Arthur Abraham. I have to admit I've never heard of him.

Does he stand a chance? What are his strenghts/weaknesses?

He is trained by Enzo Calzaghe however.



He has very good power at domestic level, but I don't see him as having anything else I could call a strength against Abraham.

I remember him being a hot prospect up until he fought a guy called Yuri Tsarenko. It was for a nothing title but he got a serious pasting over 12 rounds.
He has never been in the limelight since then although he has kept winning.
He has a decent punch and can be good to watch, but only at domestic level. If I remember rightly he takes a good punch, but against Tsarenko, even when he won the rematch (on his bike) his face was a complete mess.
He would not fare too well against Abraham.

The guys face was black and blue and he had 2 horrible black eyes. Since then his been gun shy and has never been the same since.Against Abraham i cant see Lockett winning.He has power in both hands and a decent chin but he just doesnt have the world class calibre to beat a guy like Abraham.

Not really exceptional at anything

It was mooted he'd get a shot sometime ago, but nothing came of it.

Becoming "gun shy" had nothing to do with the beating, he changed trainers and tried to change his style from crude banger to boxer. He appears to have had a resurgance now he's with Enzo (as many do) after quite a few years in the dark.

For those who say he has no chance... If Enzo can get an average blown up lightweight (maybe even super feather) Gavin Rees a WBA title it wouldnt surprise me to see him devise a plan to get Gary a middleweight one. Lockett is currently ranked 3rd by the WBO and 13th bythe IBF. Why I do not know but this thing usually happens when a fighter is wanting an easy defence so some guy is plucked out of nowhere and gien a good ranking position such as Gunn and Ree's.

Any knowledge of how he has managed to gain these placings? His oponents are decent but not good enough to justify such lofty ratings. It does seems he has been chosen from the many to be someones asy defence and I do hope that he gets it, good look to him.

He has good speed, power and strength. Calzaghe will give him good skills. He doesn't have championship experiences and he has trouble with lesser fighters. However this can be said of Rees.

Miranda hasn't beaten anyone good, Eastman was his best win and even that was a controversial stoppage and It was close on the cards too. He had Abraham's Jaw broken and couldn't even take advatage of It.
