He has a wealth of knowledge and experience to use his wrestling while avoiding subs. Subs is the ultimate worry.

Are people really excited for this match? It seems to me like it's just going to be a bunch of hyperbole from Goldberg and then some half-assed clinches and take down attempts before Coleman gasses horribly three minutes in and proceeds to get stopped on strikes. I'll be really surprised of Coleman brings anything to the table at all, and certainly not enough to beat someone as smart and marginally well conditioned as Couture.

Yep, would have been interesting 12 years ago. Not now.

I actually think thats exactly how it goes just throwing in Randy landing alot of punches standing up to.

Fedor vs Goodridge is one of my favorite fights, I have no shame.

I'm looking forward to it. It's rare that we see two wrestlers match up in the octagon.

Randy is the draw for me. I am definitely interested to see how he's aged.

I'm excited about it being a wrestling match. I would like to see their wrestling skill and strength matched up. However Randy looks like he wants to keep it standing, dirty boxing, clinching etc If they wrestle alot, I think it will be interesting.

Better late than never. I've wanted to see this fight for years. Couture is still a top fighter, and Coleman is still at a higher level than Bonnar. I don't believe Randy could have defeated Mark several years ago, but he should be a slight favorite now.

A slight favorite? Coleman's "comeback" has been one win and one loss, both times gassing early. He was getting tooled on the feet in the win until idiot Bonnar decided it was a good time to throw some dumb technique at him that put him totally off balance and got him under Coleman. If Bonnar doesn't fuck that up, he wins the second round just like the first and then wins the fight.

Couture isn't what he used to be, but he doesn't make dumb mistakes and doesn't gas. I see this as the most predictable fight coming up. Couture is the favorite, and he should be a HUGE favorite.

Okay, I just checked Bodog and Couture is -500. The only bigger favorites are Marquardt over Sonnen and GSP over Hardy. So yeah, that sounds about right.

Yep, would have been interesting 12 years ago. Not now.Coleman would have smashed Couture up had they fought in PRIDE 12 years ago. Without his hormones and in the cage Coleman is less than nothing. This is a guy that said when PRIDE took away heabutts he had to learn new skills. Coleman NEVER evolved whatsoever. Even his grappling in my eyes was overrated as iv never really seen him completely dominate and control anyone from the mount using his wrestling skills. He never learnt any submmisions to compliment his wrestling and his striking is non existent. That said a young Coleman was great to watch. I just wish he'd call it a day. Randy wins this by whatever he wants.

Coleman was coming of a two year lay off against Shogun. Coleman was very tired in finishing the Bonnar fight, but he did win the 3rd round. It is not out of the realm of possibility that Coleman can improve his stamina, though how much it will help him I'm not sure. Coleman exerts a lot more energy than Couture. Couture is comfortable in the clinch without constantly fighting for the take down.

If Couture keeps this fight standing, he should tire Coleman out and land the better shots. If the fight goes to the ground, Couture is a submission threat as well. However, I think Coleman's wrestling is on a slightly higher level than Couture's. If Coleman put's Randy on his back, he has a very real chance of winning.

Every time I want to write Mark off analyzing this match, I think back to how he handled Dan Severn. So I am comfortable calling Couture a slight favorite.

Couture is still fighting and winning at the absolute top of the sport.

Coleman isn't, but just because Coleman is still one of the few fighters around with better wrestling than Randy its a good fight.
