View Full Version : Abraham Will Beat Pavlik

when arthur abraham and kelly pavlik meet each other in the ring, i believe the fans are in for a great night. abraham and pavlik are probably the two best men in middleweight right now. pavlik hits very hard, probably as hard as abraham does but abraham is in another league, he is tougher and more skillfull than the amateurish man from ohio. i hope the fight happens and i will root for arthur abraham.

This fight needs to be made within the next six months if Pavlik decides to stay at MW.

pavlik ktfo the man of the divison. but if you still think he's amaturish, then so be it.
abraham does not punch harder than pavlik. pavlik has proven that he can knock anyone out from contenders to unified champ. :deal
abraham was also damn lucky he survived against miranda. i watched that fight, and if it wasn't for all the delays, excess penalty points and such, most likely miranda would have been holding that belt.
oh, pavlik made easy work of the man that smashed abraham. not bad for a amature.
really people gotta look at fights with a cooler head. and if they are not emotional then they gotta sharpen the tools in their shed, otherwise people will think you dont have an ounce of boxing knowledge  .
i think the fight between abraham and pavlik will come down to stamina. and while abraham has a nice powerful right hand, he doesn't throw constantly like pavlik, and with ko power in both hands either. abraham throws as hard as he can, then takes a breather until he goes for another power punching combo. pavlik wont give him a moment to breathe.
anyway im sure your just joking. if i remember rightly you backed taylor over this "amature"

Pavlik can make Abraham back up. To me, Kelly is the favorite.

fluxstuff,
firstly, thanks for the spelling correction. i just get a warm fuzzy glow in my belly when i get educated by a wanna be teacher or maybe teachers pet?
anyway, i didn't say miranda was outboxing him. but he busted him up pretty bad and it could have been stopped. you know, tko or something like that. but noooo. they tried everything. i mean sure, miranda fouled and deserved to get point deductions, but so what?
did that also require the doctor to spend ages checking abrahams jaw, which in turn gave him some recovery time? bullshit.
abraham proved he had heart, and the ability to focus through adversity. i credit him for that. but dont tell me the delay/s were perfectly legit. the jaw was broken by a punch. not a headbutt so if the doctor wanted to spend 5 minutes examining such a bad injury the fight should have been called off.
and i've also watched enough pavlik and abraham fights to feel really comfortable in believing pavlik will beat abraham. it's opinion of course, but when people get on after their fighter gets his ass kicked, and then states a abc belt holder is gonna do even better when the evidence points to the contrary, then they are just bias, haters, racist, or maybe a little unobservant.
i picked pavlik to ktfo taylor and i was right. so yeah i do have boxing knowledge, teacher. :good and i pick pavlik to ko abraham in the later rounds.
P.S. i forgot to add. you are right that pavlik can be vunerable to power shots. but considering he walked through miranda (and no, i dont buy weight loss as a reason), while abraham nearly lost his fight with miranda, i would say their toughness is the same. hell, i wonder if abraham's brain could recover from about 50 power shots from taylor like pavlik absorbed? a broken jaw is painful, but it didn't spark abrahams brain. how would abraham react to getting scrambled? and in case you missed it. pavlik has already proven to be a far more deadly finisher than abraham. sure abraham finished his last opponent is exciting fashion, and it was indeed an awesome knockout. but guess what? pavlik does that too, and to the unfied champ. gevor is a contender to an abc belt. taylor was the former unified champ who had beaten quality opposition? hmmm, which ko was more impressive now?

pavlik beats AA imo. pavliks too long and will probably keep abraham at the end of that jab. pavlik's got a very good punch and throws in volume, while AA fights in spurts and goes to a shell when asailed. i think abrahams a hell of a fighter, but pavlik looks to have much of an advantage. also, in terms of recent fights pavliks KO'd better fighters than AA's last 2 opponents.
I dont know who will win, But I will say this, Abraham will put up a better fight that Taylor did. HBO needs to get this matchup going ASAP.

Come on guys, you know how boxing works. Pavlick aint gonna fight Abraham for a good while. He's just become linear champion of the division, and before that had a war with the highly dangerous Miranda, he isnt going to step into the ring with another risky opponent just yet. Plus, do you think AA is dying to get on the end of Pavlick's right hand?

fact ist: pavlik went down against fighters and came back!
abraham never ever toched the canvas.
both are undefeated.
both hit very hard.
abraham fought the better competition.
pavlik beat taylor.
pavlik is taller.
abraham is faster.
i think we have the best two fighters in the middleweight division and they are champions. arthur has such a big heart, he is very brave and unbelievable strong. i really believe abraham will knock out pavlik in an epic battle. sorry, all you american folks, but your man is the second best in the worls. be proud! he will be beaten by the best when facing the current ibf-champ.

Pavlik is the best middleweight. He shows with Miranda and Taylor. Pavlik if he wins Tayloer once again in rematch , he will lead for long time. I think only Calzaghe can beat him if Pavlik moves in the super middleweight.

Are you kidding me???
Who has AA fought that is better than Taylor?

Aside from the standard 1-2, what else does Pavlik do? Taylor just has no chin or defense anyway and Miranda was drained from the weightloss and has poor defense...

:verysad
You've seen the KO? He threw beatiful short, crisp hooks and uppercuts from both hands. Taylor has a decent chin - Pavlig is a big puncher. Pavlik was also weight drain for both Miranda and Taylor fights (and he's bigger).

AA is totally overrated. In a neutral country he would have lost yet against Miranda (but I respect his heart), and he faced beside him only bums (former LMW´s, etc.), I mean, he showed good power against a LMW like Gevor, or a skinny bum like Ikeke, but he never KO´d elite guys like Pavlik did. AA is also way too passive to win rounds against Kelly, Pavlik is a fighter, who throws 100+ punches/round, every punchs with very good power, because of AA´s very good chin it would go to the midrounds, until AA gets stopped...
but I doubt if this fight will happen, AA probably won´t come to the States to fight Pavlik...

abraham knocked out velazco, beat eastman, survived miranda and destroyed gevor.
pavlik killed an already dead miranda and beat up taylor.
believe me, pavlik can go forward and throw bombs and only bums forget to react, like taylor did. he should have won the fight by using a TECHNIQUE. abraham will not go down but floor pavlik himself, no doubt.
abraham has the better defense and he moves better and throws equally hrad if not harder. he also has the harder chin.
pavlik was lucky to win against taylor because the former champ made a lot of mistakes. dont get me wrong-pavlik is great, probably the second best around but abraham is the greatest middleweight around and we all will see soon. he will conquer the states and become unified champion. pavlik will go down against arthur abraham.

AA has a great chin? Why do you know that so sure? He never fought a hard puncher beside Miranda (Eastman was shot, I don´t count him), guys like Demers, Gevor, etc. aren´t good fighters with power, so we must be careful when it comes to AA´s chin. I think it´s pretty good, but against a fighter like Taylor, I see him also going down. Miranda was dead? I noticed, that´s the new excuse for the Pavlik-haters...

I don't know why Abraham is so overrated on this forum, honestly, he just doesn't have the tools to beat Pavlik... He doesn't throw enough punches, he isn't tall enough, he isn't fast enough and his style is too one dimensional to try and outbox Pavlik, so naturally, he would either get knocked out badly(my prediction) or get beaten pillar to post again and maybe come away with a controversial decision...
But this is ALL pointless speculation because there is
NO
WAY
Abrahams german handlers put him in the ring with Pavlik.

I have a feeling that a lot of Euros are boosting up Abraham as a way to step on Pavlik's accomplishments and justify their claims that Pavlik is an "average" boxer.
Abraham had his jaw broken by Miranda and went 12 rounds with him. Pavlik beat the shit out of Miranda, and then proceeded to KO Taylor, who is a league above any competition that Abraham has faced. It is clear to anybody who doesn't have a bias against Americans who the favorite should be.

Yes he did, if there weren't so many point deductions AA just might have lost that fight. Hell. even with the point deductions lots of people still scored it for Pantera. :yep
The deductions were well deserved.
Watch the fight.
The whole thing about the non-stoppage is mute as well, because Abraham fought on and took the fight. He didn't quit.
Could it have been stopped? Certainley. It wasn't though.
Just like Taylor v Pavlik could of been stopped in the 2nd, it wasn't.
All that matters in the end is the outcome, and Miranda didn't win, nor deserve to win that fight.

Not AA's problem that Miranda couldnt fight clean.
AA's showed heart fighting with the worst broken jaw i have ever seen for a good chunk of the fight. He was badly injured and still managed to school Miranda.

You are right that Pavlik should be the favourit and he definately would be. And you are also right that some people overhype AA to say that Kelly is an one dimensional/average boxer.
But guess what: Far more Americans are overhyping Pavlik as if he is god and don't even see competition for him at either 160 or 168 - just see the comparison...

Why does everybody allmost allways think that or boxer A ktfo boxer B or the reverse:huh
I'd say this is a PICK 'M fight. They are both not technical boxers. With Abraham fighter more with his brains then Pavlik though.
Close fight imo
By the way same with floyd vs hatton. All this crap always how dlh was going to KILL floyd or how floyd would KILL dlh. Only fans who can't give an objective opinion say these things..:good

Obviously they are both excellent, tough fighters and fun to watch. None deserves to be labeled "one dimensional", if this fight ever happens i would slightly favour Pavlik. Pavliks high punch output could trouble Abraham.

Abraham got his ass whooped against Miranda, and Miranda and Pavlik basically have the same style of fighting. Abraham is getting KTFO!
Could be. I see your point. But that fight is a while ago. Boxers improve every fight. ''basically the same style'' is not a secure win for pavlik.
What if AA lands on or a few of his bombs? You think he won't land that on pavlik?
We'll see. I still say both could win this.
Though rooting for pavlik

Didn't think I'd be agreeing with an Abraham fan. But, I actually think that less people are overhyping Pavlik to God (or even elite) status than you think. The significant majority of posters think Calzaghe/Kessler are one level above Pavlik.
I've seen far more serious (key word) posts about how Pavlik is an "average" fighter than posts about how Pavlik is a top 4 pound for pound or better. Right now, both statements are ridiculous.

Fair enough...me too see Kessler/JC above him at the moment. Lets have him defending his title a few times to see how really go(o)d he is...and don't judge a fight before it's actually happen if you don't know much about one f the fighters (this isn't directed at you Stay).
I have seen both in alot of fights (Pavlik since Zuniga and AA nearly all of his fights) and think that it's a damn close fight with Pavlik having the advantage over 12 rounds...but don't count out a KO win for each man...

I would favout Pavlik but if there is a man to beat pavlik at MW its AA. he is the toughest guy at MW, he throws bombs and he is a wicked finisher. But he only fights in sperts. If he could get to kelly early he would finish him but if it went late kelly's power and activity would be too much for him. I don't see this fight going past the 9th. and if it gets to the sixth round its good night AA.
it certainly is the MW fight that i would like to see most. I think that AA will want a showcase fight in america and Kelly will either be fighting Taylor or taking an easy money fight next. So I don't see this happening until june or something if it goes down at all.

I'd favor Pavlik over Abraham based on his length and punch output. He also punches as hard as AA, I think, but here's the danger for Kelly: Abraham throws punches in combination and explosively, and that is where Pavlik is most vulnerable.
A clubber like Miranda won't fare well against Pavlik, nor will a looper and non-defender like Taylor. But Abraham stays in his shell and picks his spots, giving him a real chance.
Still, I edge Pavlik based on his jab, aggression and overall activity. Abraham is going to lose to a random, unheralded, slick boxer if he isn't careful. He fights like a guy who is much older than he is. And he'd better steer clear of 168, no matter how much is to be made there.

Pavlik would beat him. The thing about Pavlik is he fights tall, and I think Abraham would have a problem getting inside to hurt Pavlik. Pavlik would bust him up on the outside with jabs and eventually land a right that sends Abraham into lala land.

Pavlik can make Abraham back up. To me, Kelly is the favorite.
My grandpa can make AA to back up. That's the way he fights.
I would have it 55%-45% for Pavlik. Should be fun to watch.

I do think Abraham is dangerous to Pavlik because he is a big puncher, has a very solid chin and has displayed a huge heart. Had Abraham not broken his chin, I think he would of finnished Miranda in similar fashion that Pavlik did.
Pavlik likes to fight very aggressive and trade punches, that is right up Abrahams ally! The fight should be made.

AA will present us with nothing but a typical Pavlik fight. They'll go back and forth for 4 to 5 rounds, and then Kelly will step on the gas and end AA's title reign before the end of the 8th round. Personally I am very excited at the prospect of Pavlik putting back together what Taylor let fall apart. I can't wait to see him with all four titles!
