Hopkins would duplicate what Hagler did to Hamsho in 1981.

I think Hopkins would be outboxing him at first but then he is worn down by the pressure Hamsho brings. I edge towards Hamsho on points. Not to say that Hopkins has no chance, but he never faced a bruiser like this one.

Hamsho wins with his mauling brawling style

The middleweights back then were of superior caliber

No way. Hopkins at his best will render Hamsho impotent, busting him up along the way. Wide decision.

Hamsho was the least impressive of the higher regarded hagler contenders for me.

Barely got past a washed up Minter who was fighting scared to protect his by then tissue paper face.Minter still rocked him badly, but didn't follow up.

Who lands the first headbutt?
The reigning king Hamsho. And watch out for those elbows.

Hopkins wins by a hairline decision over Hamsho, showing his he's no punk in the ring, North Philly style.
