that's if hatton doesn't hit him enough. hatton will never win a boxing match. that is a given, but he could apply enough pressure, higher work rate, and roughness to cause floyd's punch output to drop in favour of stamina, and survival. if that happens then expect a similar fight to castillo/floyd 1, but with hatton doing more to eek out the decision.

and don't say it can't be done. often times a energetic, volume puncher can outhustle a slickster simply by number of punches thrown. floyd will have a way higher connect percentile. probably over 50% while hatton might only muster around 20-25%. BUT! floyd don't throw as much as he did in the lower weights, and that just might cost him.

and also no bullshit about floyd standing toe to toe. if he does that, he will either get ko'ed or quickly give ground and start doing a stick and move, which means less punches thrown, again. so hatton does have a chance, but his stamina has to be even better than in the kostya fight. that much is for sure.

Fair point but DLH is at the end of his career whereas Hatton could be profitable for some years yet.

I do not think this is a likely event but the cynic in me could see the pressure for this.

He is a bigger name and for large parts of his career he was probably a bigger name in the UK also. However he is not 'box office' and he has already retired once. These factors could influence those whose primary motivation is money.

There's always the chance that the judges will favor activity and pressure over picked accurate punching. And if Hatton stays busy and throws a ton throughout the fight, who knows. But i don't see that happening. I think PBF will win enough rounds decisively.

The fact that DLH got the nod from one judge in that fight basically is a sign that going to the judges = taking your chances with an inept system.

Although it would be poetic justice if Floyd got screwed as it might teach him to start putting guys away again, or at least pretenting to try to put them away.

I think Mayweather has a chance of even stopping Hatton. Floyd hits harder than people give him credit for, it even looked to me in the mid rounds of the De La Hoya fight that he rocked Oscar, who has a solid beard. Hatton also cuts easy, so the whole scorecard arguement could go out the window. Who knows?
