Anyone watch the contendor?

Well a guy that was in with Calzaghe, and according to the article in the Ring magazine, (since it wasn't on TV of course, cuz who the fuck is Bika? Oh yeah, he's a guy that's on Contendor now), that gave Calzaghe a run for his money, looked like shit.

The guy was dropping his hands like a mother fucker to throw telegraphed uppercut, didn't possess that much power, and threw some wide shots.

I'm sorry, but Pavlik would have knocked Bika the fuck out.

Calzaghe struggled with him.

I don't think Bika would get away with using the tactics he used against Calzaghe on The Contender.

Styles make fight's and bika is a big super middle with a rough and ready style, and how do you know pavlik would have knocked him out. Pavlik has to decent wins in his whole resume, he almost got smoked by jt and miranda is hardly suger ray robinson. I think pavlik would probably beat bika but he hasn't even fought at smw yet so wtf are you on about.

Calzaghe broke his hand in the 2nd (?) round and had to win the fight with his jab.

He said his left hand was hurt in sparring a week prior to the fight.

I don't recall him saying it was broken.

Also, they say Calzaghe looked winded too.

The guy that fought him last night was a nobody, yet was able to hang with Bika.

And don't give me that styles thing, Bika leads with his head and all that, but he ain't Superfast, doesn't punch that hard, and throws some wide ass shots.

He is tough though.

Bika has already won The Contender hasnt he?

thats what I read on the Austalian post 'The Contender'

I guess. I don't know, but that does make him look a little better.

He didn't give Calzaghe a run for his money. It was 100% that Calzaghe was going to win, right through the fight.

That guy was Donny McCracy, really tough journeyman/gate keeper with a great punch. Nearly took Green out with a great hook, something Miranda only came close to doing in the last round, if you want to get technical.

Plus, Bika's not a skilled guy, he's a rough houser who seeks to upset your gameplan and he's very strong.

And Calzaghe won 9 rounds to 3 easily, Bika was holding excessively in a way that trumped a John Ruiz style fight, he ought to have been DQed.

He SHOULD win it - he's the biggest and most experienced fighter of the whole bunch. He's fighting nothing but unproven prospects, old guys on their last leg, and blown up welterweights...

Seriously though, if he could make 160 he should really move down - he could be a beast at Middleweight IMO.

He's all muscle as it is.

I think you might have to cut something off that guy for him to make 160.

Yeah I want to know to, although winning the contendor doesn't necessarily mean anything if you go by history.

The only guy that won anything was Gomez and that was against a garbage ass Gatti.

Forbes is good too.

Grady Brewer? KOed by Pavlik.

Nobody has ever claimed that Bika was some world beater. He's a 168 fringe contender/gate keeper who gives guys a hard night, he's also a fucking AWFUL style for Jermain Taylor, so Taylor should not take him up as a 'tune up'.

Not saying that Bika would win, but he'd sure give Taylor a nasty fight, possibly KO him late as Taylor fades.

You know what's funny.

Codrington, little star boy, gets all of the easy bouts like shit Vera.

On his irrational hatred of Calzaghe I suppose. He certainly didn't come up with coherent arguments.:D

As far as I know the final fight of the Contender hasn't taken place, and it will be shown live liek the previous 2 seasons. I know who is in the finals, but I don't want to post it in case anyone doesn't want to know.

For christs's fucking sake! Calm down Beavis. Someone will PM you, but I know there are people here trying not to find out the results in advance.

I saw Bika vs Calzaghe, it was really clear that calzaghe was the better fighter but bika impressed me with his toughness, he was always coming forward, and landed some vicious punches on calzaghe's body. He was a bit dirty and headbutted calzaghe to open a cut over his left eye. He certainly isn't an easy matchup for anyone

Bika looked gassed in a fight that was only 5 rounds! That does not speak well of a guy who has been 12 against some tough opponents. I've been hoping Sam Soliman would take the whole thing, parlay his win into a couple good pay days, and then retire. However, I'm thinking the smart money is probably on Codrington to win. Of course one never knows, last season all the smart money was on Forbes, and it was an unknown journeyman who won the big enchilada!

Maxime, a little discretion would be in order, I assume that some of the posters are not interested in getting spoiled. If somebody asks, then a PM would be the most considerable choice.;)
