Interesting to see Pavlik got just over $1m for his fight with Taylor... yet look at how much he actualy got after fees....

"Pavlik earned a gross purse of $1.05 million Saturday. After the fight, the New Jersey Athletic Board of Control presented Pavlik with a check for $666,750, which represented his share of the earnings after his managers, trainers and all fees were paid."

makes you think, especially when some fighters get a helluva lot less and half is taken!! I dont think the $666,750 is after tax, is it?

Compare that to what most mma fighter's get and it's still a huge payday.

He has to pay his trainer, manager and then pay tax on the remainder.

One Don Kings tricks was to take his managers fee out of the boxers purse before tax....

the 600k is the after fees before tax figure, the manager's money etc has already come out of it.

Yep, he left his check in the room. Surely it'dve just been cancelled though.

Anyway, tax on 600k in the us, gotta be 40 odd % hasnt it.

So a $1m purse is quickly down to 300 odd k, change that into UK money and Pavlik got £150,000 ish .... not that much at all.

But now he's got the title he can really start earning.

I wouldn't be sure about that, us brtis get cained on tax compared to most nations so i would reckon less, if any americans can tell me different i would like to know.

Yeah, just mad when you hear the commentators saying "he'll be getting a million for this fight" - it'd take the shine off if someone chipped in and said "yeah but after fees and tax he's only getting 150,000 gbp"

hey but when you think ordianary people work there ass off all year for like 20k a year 150k would be like winning the lottery (or 5 numbers and the bonus maybe! lol)

he will start to earna helluva lot more now though wouldnt you think not to mention all the sponsership money and whatever else now he will get.

You think so? A Dane with such an income would have to pay around 60% in tax.
