On Strikeforce as competition for the UFC
Dana White: "Yeah, I worry about Strikeforce all the time. Come on. Do you know how long I've been hearing about this? First it was Affliction and then it's somebody else. No, I don't worry about Strikeforce. Strikeforce is a lower-level show where guys who aren't in the UFC can go and make some money. It's never going to be anything more than that, ever."

So lower level that a few of his fighters were there enjoying the show.
well in a way he is right but what he fails to realize is that you don't need the best guys to have great fights. plenty of top fighters have shitty fights in the UFC. i thought it was a great show(minus the walker fight). how many times is the main event on a UFC card the fight of the night? not often to my knowledge.

Dana should spend more money bringing some of these SF fighters to the UFC instead of keep waisting it on so many poor TUF fighters who don't even belong on TV.

Irrelevant.
In the context of "competition" to UFC place, it is a lower level show. There were a few good fighters in Affliction that UFC fighters went to see, but Affliction failed. Strikeforce won't, because it's learned from other orgs mistakes, but it's nowhere near the UFC in terms of size or impact.

Miami was awesome IMO. no it does not have the top divisions in the world, but it has some great fighters and some appealing matchups.

Strikeforce is backed by a solid propmotion company, they had been around for longer the UFC, and it seems that they do know how to run a business.
Yeah, Dana is worried.

Yeah, Dana is worried.
They were a regional kickboxing organization for 20 years before they fully got into the MMA game.

wherever the best fighters are is where the fans will go. Strikeforce is good but UFC is still on top.
On a different subject, MMA is still young. They should get together and implement some sort of matchmaking system where the fighters next fights are not made based on who the more popular fighters are but actually based on the results of their previous fights.

I wish Strikeforce would show LIVE events in Australia, they have some good talent I'd love to see it live!

Nah, most MMA orgs do a great job of making matchups and I don't think there is any reason to change the method of determining who fights who from "make the fights that people want to see". Strict matchmaking systems limit the potential for fast rising champions that, while they may be very uncommon in boxing due to the fact that it takes a boxing pedigree to become a boxing champion, are more common in MMA when you have people coming in from other martial arts (for instance, Brock Lesnar) which may make them an extremely formidable MMA fighter with little MMA experience.
I think SF shows are fine the cards they put out have been good but they are still thin in various divisions. Nick Diaz doesn't even have somebody he wants to fight.

No shit. You're right. I wish Nick Diaz would go back to the UFC. I'd much rather see him fight in their stacked division.
However, if Strikeforce can sign Parysian and Karo can actually make it to the ring - that becomes a very compelling fight for Diaz outside of the UFC.

I've never seen Strikeforce before the recent Miami event but I'm watching it from now on for sure. I still think the UFC has more to offer overall but Strikeforce seems to put up some damn good match-ups, from the little I've seen. Dana should worry and probably does
Who cares what Dana White thinks? That cunt is the reason his fighter are gonna leave. It started with Hendo and it is gonna continue, wait and see.

How long have you been saying that? The roster has been getting bigger and more top fighters as well. Losing Hendo isn't good but he is 40 and wasn't a huge draw for the money he wanted. It was a business decision Dana made not to pay him his demands so Hendo left.
Who are these "more top fighters" Zuffa Zombie? Hendo just left, what do you think fighters are just gonna walk out everyday for no reason? It will take time but over the next few years guys will not want to be restricted like they are in the UFC. Everyother promotion in the world shares fighters and the fighters like that. The fighters like owning there own images. They like the ability to do what they want and when the money starts coming from other places they ARE GONNA start leaving.
Why would someone choose to be a restricted if the pay is the same somewhere where they aren't?

Put UFC on for free tomorrow, and a ppv Strikeforce, and I will be watching Strikeforce. UFC is played out.

this coming from a man who offered kimbo slice a contract after his career has stalled! SF has 2 of the top 5 p4p fighters on the planet! dana would prefer to contract a wwe wrestler rather than doing all in his power to secure fedor!

strike Force Miami was far better than Couture vs Coleman.

Strikeforce have been putting on QUALITY shows for FREE. UFC need to remember they have the best heavyweight in the world and their light heavyweight is quickly trying to make a claim to best fighter in that division. Mousasi vs Henderson will have people talking. Their 185 fighter is the 2nd best 185er in the world.
Their roster is getting bigger. SF are not to be shunned.
FORMIDABLE

UFC is garbage right now. What the hell kind of show was Couture vs Coleman? If I want to watch old dinosaurs I just pop in a Jurassic Park DVD. I sure as ain't paying for it.
Of their last 9 shows only Machida-Shogun was worthy of a main event, barely. Most events they're recycling past it legends and overhyped TUF guys as headliners. I can't think of any future stars on their way up other than Matt Hardy, Cain Velasquez. If they think they can rely on TUF fighters to sell PPVs in future they're fucked. When guys like BJ, Anderson Silva and GSP are gone they're fucked anyway.
Of course Dana White the cunt should be worried. Strikeforce has a network behind them and if they continue looking after their fighters and attracting more of the calibre of talent they have been signing lately, it won't be too long before they have a product capable of competing with the UFC. Wouldn't it be funny if the UFC in a few years are approaching Strikeforce for a co-promotion event.

UFC fucking exposed themselves at 109. How the fuck can 2 of your main event fighters be cut following a loss. Not really main event material if they are one fight away from being cut. Plus Sonnen was a 5 to 1 underdog who turned it around and shocked the world.
I liked the UFC 109 card but in terms of justification for their match making they could get criticised.
SF need to snap up Arlovski, Karo, Trigg etc There are good fighters out there who should be going for cheap.
They need to make sure they don't pick up UFC leftovers.

I know. SF should snap up good fighters. Just because the UFC cuts them doesn't mean they are bad however they need to be selective so they don't develop an inferior org image or mentality. So they should probably snap up Karo but not Trigg. Alexander not Coleman etc
If your talking about Houston he just lost in another lower org. I think he might be hanging them up.
