Hes a british/irish fighter some guys might not like to vote against the home guy which is understandable.I see a lot of mixed opinions on here so i hope the poll tells the truth.

LP no mate

I work in IT though and i'm doing double shifts all weekend plus I work away and have nothing better to do whilst away in MK.

Anyway Pirog wins this easily. I'm not saying Macklin isn't good or anything but his one win against Asikainen is seriously getting him overrated on this forum. He will have to do something beyond special to beat the likes of Pavlik and Pirog which is the level some people are putting him on after wins against Elcock and Asikainen

After watching pirogs performance against mitchell i was left unimpressed but that could still be a bad day at the office for pirog and he did still win by ko.

Didnt Macklin and his team mess Pirog around so much that the fights off?

Yes the fight is off. Pirog want's his next fight to be in America.

Not seen anything of P[irog so will side with Macklin. Is this fight off still? Real shame, what next for Macklin?

This is a tough fight to call.

Pirog is essentially a defensive genius; he's constantly moving his upper body, rolling, and slipping punches. Pirog also has excellent footwork, as he darts in and out like an antelope to elude punches while unloading shots of his own. The tendency is for Pirog to frustrate the hell out of opponents.

Pirog is also an impressive combination puncher. His left hand is flashy, he has excellent hand speed, and he mixes his punches to the head and body beautifully.

The downside to Pirog, however, is that he does not have world class punching power. He may not be able to get Macklin's respect in the ring. Worse yet, Pirog's style is so labor intensive, that he seems to drain himself of energy by the second half of the fight. It's rare that a fighter can be that busy, in terms of body movement, and not get fatigued later.

I seriously wonder if Pirog can handle a hard hitting, strong, aggressive, and proficient boxer like Macklin. Macklin is slower than Pirog, and he's somewhat inferior as a boxer, but Macklin will keep the pressure on for the entire fight. Later, when Pirog tires, Macklin could connect with his bombs and that could end the fight fast.

Just a hunch. I'm studying the fighters now.

I just discovered that the fight's been canceled. I don't find that surprising, given that it was scheduled in the UK. I was puzzled, in fact, as to why Pirog's people would bring him to the UK to fight a dangerous hometown guy like Macklin. It seems to me that there are better, easier ways for Pirog to establish himself without having to take this fight.

Did anyone see Macklin's fight against the Serbian, Ajetovic? I didn't see it but it sounds like Macklin lost about three rounds to this guy, winning by 6-3-1. Did Macklin show any weaknesses in this bout, and if so, what were they?

He's not good going backwards,he looked hurt at one stage too during the Ajetovic fight.Macklin looks great when he's fighting a limited or declining fighter but put him in with a good technical boxer and I think he will lose.

If i remember correctly yori boy campas gave macklin a beating too and he was lucky to get a decision in ireland that night.I need to get a copy of that fight and the ajectovic bout too.

Can't remember too much about the Campas fight but it wasn't one of Macklins best performances that's for sure...I have highlights of the Ajetovic fight if you want a copy...

Macklin looked really, really tough against Jaime Moore, who is pretty good. If Macklin had paced himself better that night, he might have won. Based on the strength, power, and combination punching Macklin shows me, I wonder if Pirog has the capacity to back Macklin up. Will Macklin respect Pirog's punching power?

What do you think?

It's a hard one to call,I wouldn't say Macklin has a bad chin but if Ajetovic can stun him so can Pirog,Macklin has questionable defense also...If the fight went ahead I would favour Pirog...

I think he'll go for one of the weaker champs at MW,I can't see him going after Pavlik somehow...

He will most likely defend his EBU belt against someone in april, im thinking barker i dont think lee would fancy himself after his last performance.Barker vs macklin would be just as big.

who do you think would win that one,I can see Macklin strugging with someone like Barker but then Barkers chin is not the best is it?

That's certainly not how I remember that fight.
I was watching it in a pub so couldn't hear the commentary(although Magee and Dave Boy were probably cheerleading Macklin anyway), but I thought Macklin won that fight clear enough. I hadn't been drinking either btw.

He didn't look great in that fight, but it was a steady enough performance and he boxed his way to a decision off the backfoot.

Are you sure you're thinking of the Campas fight ?
The Ajetovic fight I haven't seen but apparently Matt really did struggle in that and was hurt at one point(as mentioned in this thread).
