You are looking good young man, I think you should feint more before you come in, the guy you fought seemed to throw in bunches any time you moved so feint let him through and then get it!
Also I didn't notice you doubling up on your jab, try that to suprise your opponent.
But I liked your performance good to build on!
Thanks. Will work on it

a bit more circling against the southpaw?
although its a small ring....

Vary your punches a little more and more feints. Not bad though.

looked good :good
saw you land some good lead rights and saw you sneak a good left in there as well. to echo the poster above, try to set things up a bit. start throwing that jab like ya mean and double it up. at the beginning of the vid i did see you throw a good jab and immediately follow it with a straight right and that looked very good. build off that. keep it up man, you look good.
Thanks. Will work on it
Good effort mate.
Nice left hook which I first noticed around the 140 mark, very nice.
You seemed to play into his hands a little by letting him dictate the movement. He was constantly moving to his left to open you up. As he was a southpaw this is what you should have been doing, although you did do it a bit towards the end. Your certainly not afraid to get hit which is always a good thing.
Only you can answer this but you seemed a bit knackered after 4 mins. Bit more roadwork maybe.
All in all good effort. Take all of what I say with a pinch of salt as I have never been in the ring.
My number 1 bit of advice though.......
.....a mouth guard that fits!!!!

From what I saw ( i didnt watch the whole thing)
Your trying too hard to be a tough guy... I know the feeling, you get that adreniline pumping, and you get caught nice a few times....
You were much more skilled than that kid, and you tried to force your shots to look cool in front of the crowd.
If you would have paced yourself, sticked to the game plan, you could have out boxed this fool :good
You have a very good sense of distance btw, dont let the crowd effect you judgment too much... I know that win you get rocked and you hear the ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you want to catch him back right away... But be patient... The coolest guy is who wins in the end, they dont count knock downs and how hard you hit anyway.
Everything looks good, just try to be more patient and stick to your game plan :good

Nice job overall. Good movement. My only advice would be to be careful throwing the lead right from too far out which you did a few times in the second round. The guy you were fighting didn't counter it, but could have. Good luck.

Well you didnt feint at all. no head movement and lack of variation in your punches. didnt circle to the left against a lefty! no countering. Didnt change your angles enough. But other than that your looking good mate.

you did good kid,
what weight do you fight in?
Here are some things you can work on:
1. Punch with more authority, work on your power.
2. Use your Jab more.
3. You need more head movement, I didn't see you slipping punches at all.
4. Combinations. Go to the body more and the head will die.
Other than that you did pretty good, how many fights you got?

First up hope I can box that well in a year's time, you looked solid youngun.
Two things, don't overdo the straight right lead (you missed some consecutive ones), and I don't know if I have been watching too many Ali videos but try and counter jabs instead of blocking/catching them, slip and throw a jab back, or catch and throw something back.
Just from what I saw/remember from your vid, may be way off.
NICE video.
But fix the lighting issue!

Snap that jab out and double it followed by a right hand down the pipe to the chest or head it doesn't matter. That lefty came inside almost when he wanted to, but I liked a right hand you landed early and a bodyshot you landed at about 1:29 I think the other guy froze for a second you could of followed up.You should check out some vids on Kostya Tszyu or Oscar in the amateurs. They might help.

I completely agree. Also, if you want to "bully" him, when in close walk him back, purposely. Anticipate him attempting to push you back but show you are more powerful. Energy you know you are using is not wasted. The jab to the body and left hook are REALLY dangerous to South Paws. You come at an awkward angle then move to their left. Almost impossible for them to hit you.

Agreed. A little to the body, especially jabs or left hooks, would have served you well.

First of all congrats for stepping inside the ring, it takes a lot of courage. I seen some positive, but also things you should improve on. It seem when you work on the body the rare times in the bout, you actually made your opponent stop his offense in moments in the bout. Every fighter hates getting hit in the body, try to max this type of attack esp. now. You have a good one two, try to do that more often instead of just throwing your right, which became predictable and time for your opponent, esp when your were throwing it with your head down. Also try not to fight your opponents fight, you were doing good, but then started fighting his fight. When he was in the attack, try to compose yourself more instead of exchanging. Use that left more often, you got some good shots with it. And don't be afraid to clinch many young fighters hate to do that. But it gives you time to breath and stop your opponents offense. Very importantly it could save you in the future if you ever get caught with a good one. Good luck.

:deal. Left hooks/left uppercuts are great on southpaws.
You are correct. I left out the left uppercut. De La Hoya used that on Camacho. The left jab to the body really can set things up. It won't leave as open as a left uppercut or hook but can set those shots up without being too awkward. Also, your stamina needs to be worked on and/or your pacing. Just so you don't tire out as fast.

It was an off night for body shots, i have a reputation as a good body puncher and my last fight I won by using my body shots effectivly, just didnt get them going last night.

Honestly, my stamina was fine. One thing people remark on is I have good fitness and my trainer says im one of the fittest fighters hes seen. I think last night was just more ragged than actual being tired.

You keep trying to get your punches off first and are too willing to exchange, a little feint here and there will provide the openings you are looking for. I think other posters have covered everything else.
Good luck in the future bud!:good

I watched the first round. You could jab a little more and use the ring a little more. You're a little too stationary and need to move your head more. I saw some nice crosses land though

That is why I placed a "/" there. It could be more so your pacing. Sometimes you can have GREAT stamina however your pacing will cause you to exert more than needed thus causing you to become sloppy. When I fight, my mission is to be patient and fight when needed.
I think your performance was awesome. Hope to see more of it. Where are you located, UK?

Aye, Scotland.
I feel I can fight better. I have a fight this saturday so I can perform better there.

You are young and learning. But you did pretty good. Feint, head movement, jab, All those good ideas to work on. So I agree with the other posters. Leading with the right is a good move, but not to be used all the time. Used that jab!! And dont always aim to the head. Trying aiming to the opponent's chest once in a while.

You have a good straight right, but you need to use your jab with a bit more authority. Also, it seemed like you felt the need to initiate rather than wait for your opponent to step in. It's all about scoring punches in the amatuers, so there is no point taking a couple of shots if your not certain you are going to land cleanly. Make him miss, and with a bit more head movement you will be on the right road.
When I was boxing, I used to do the exact same thing. Feed off the crowd and look to throw punches non stop for 3 rounds. But with experience, I began to think more in the ring and take my time, pick my shots.
Hope the feedback helps. And look forward to seeing your next bout.

Better than last time, but i agree with the fact that you flagged bad in the last, you may not think it at the time. But yer stamina needs working on, try a spinning class with a brutal instructor who'll have yer lungs hanging outer yer ears in 5 minutes.
When my son was 20 he was having his 10th fight & i got him into a spinning class with me & he near on collapsed & threw up after 10 minutes, i never saw him again for a year:lol:

Whats up Gpater:good Early on you show good balance and your right was good at times but i thought you were throwing it way to much. I think you should jab a lot more and work off it. Around the 2:27 mark you did a little nice move. Also more head movement hopefully this will improve in time. But id really stress working off your Jab more.
Good fight:good Im sure you will learn off of it, you had better skills than the other kid, just got to fix some things.

as others have said on here and i keep saying it too.work on your jab, throwing double rather then singles.also, ithink after a few right leads your opponent is going to know whats coming.
the head and lateral movement will come in time, you're still only classed as a novice (aren't you ??) so there's plenty of time time to learn.
nothing wrong with your bottle anyway.10/10 in fact
All has been said I guess, head movement is what I first thought of.

Your improving Greg... You need to work on your power and also your not effective at long range. Too slow to let your straight lefts and rights go, too much posing on the punch bag i'll bet. Don;t be afraid to let the longer range shots go, ok they won't always look that impressive but they will get you the W. Thought you were pretty good- honest no BS assesment.

Your style is too upright, you jump in throwing punches and you dont move your head as you come in or bend at your waist or knees. Even when he had you on the ropes for a bit you where standing upright, a good body puncher would hurt you..
