Now going back in history, there have been alot of fighters in the USA that have been neglected/ignored by the boxing public......the socalled darkhorses.
sometimes it had to do with them getting ducked, sometimes with just a lack of proper management.
one reason for that was universal: the US has always been an overcrowded sporting landscape.
but now since europe has grown into a boxing powerhouse/hotbath, the same thing is starting to happen there as well imo.
in this thread id like to post/discuss the fighters that one feels have gone unnoticed or get lack of exposure.
so here we go:

Dejan Zavek ...aka jan zaveck!
he is an unbeaten slovenian welter at 22-0 with 13 ko´s.
at 31, he doesnt have much time.
he is a several times slovenian amateur champ and has competed in all the big tournaments. unaided by the government, he had to pay for his boxing trips himself!!
his amateur record is 171-15!!!!
as a pro he signed with a smaller boxing stable in SES. he has an exciting style.....stocky built with good power and good reflexes.
his defense is sound too.
but so far, he has faced only journeyman. once, he was supposed to sign with don king, but that went nowhere.
now next up he is fighting a journeyman with a record of 8-7 for the "german international welter title".......not exactly a step forward.
he should have fought for the euro belt some time ago. but his manager seems unwilling to invest in him (or in his opponents for that matter).
a real neglected talent imo.
a matchup with german michel trabant would be a great fight and he would win imo.
Zavek is a bad example, he isn't that good. Guys like Dzindziruk, Sidorenko, Virchis should get more attention.

well, those guys all have belts to their name and are making a few bucks i guess.
and you have to start somewhere.
and this thread is not only about guys who are top of the line.
zaveck may not be the next mayweather or mosley, but he deserves better than fighting bums all the time.

In France Serrat and Mendy. They were more skilled than guys like Girard or Mormeck who signed with the good promoters.

VIACHESLAV SENCHENKO: 23-0 (16)
another welter, this time from the ukraine.
this guy is 29 years of age and a former olympian.
a tall guy at 5´10 1/2, he is a very good classic european boxer.........stands tall, very technical, good speed, solid power. good defense too.
to me, a fighter with world class potential. has not yet met any of the big names, although i think he is ready for them.
i bet he would beat the crap out of a guy like jessie feliciano........the next kermit cintron challenger.
and speaking of cintron, this would be a great fight. kermit has more power, but skillwise, i think this guy is better. he can win on points imo.
im really surprised that no big boxing firm has taken this guy in. the most talented european welter imo.

SERGEJ SOROKIN: 26-1-1 (18)
this welter/junior welter is from russia and assosiated with german based arena box promotion.
at 5´9 1/2 he has good size for either weightclass. although an orthodox fighter, he kinda reminds me of sergej dzinziruk cause dispite his slender built he is a very sharp and accurate hitter.
his only loss came against juan urango on points in a six rounder early in his career.
so far, he has not been given the chance to fight a real top contender, but he has some nice wins over the likes of emanuel augustus and ante bilic.
the bilic fight was at catchweight, with bilic moving down to 148 pounds from jr. middle and sorokin moving up to welter.
bilic, a very talented and neglected fighter in his own right, looked much the bigger man in the ring, but dispite holding an edge in strength, succumed to sorokins superior accuracy and suprisingly, superior power. it was close, but the a knockdown sorokin scored early in the fight won it for him clear imo.
the win over augustus came as no surprise to me, sorokin proving his world class once again.
its a shame that this guy has not even fought for the euro belt, cause he´d win it with ease.
imo, he can fight in world class at either 140 or 147. he is pure class. i see no real weakness in him.
