Hopkins - Calzaghe 10 years ago is nothing compared to what he is today but still had insane workrate - something that Hopkins couldn't match. I think that BHop would have too much know how. Calzaghe still thought that he could knock anyone out 10 year ago so could have been picked off and roughed by that wily (still was old then) Hopkins.

Hopkins of course. Calzaghe probably has a small chance now even though Hopkins is at light heavy because he's bound to get old at some point soon.

10 years ago I think I would edge towards Bhop but 5 years ago I would edge towards Calzaghe. I would pick Bhop to win right now but it all depends on how Calzaghe performs against Kessler, if he wins Calzaghe picks up a win then I doubt Bhp could get anything from the fight.

97 Calzaghe was too Green and Hopkins was near his peak.
Now, 2000-2006 Calzaghe vs. a 97 Hopkins, I'm going with Calzaghe clear.

does no one else think the the location of the fight would be a big factor?

Wow, really? If they fought now I would pick Calzaghe. But in a mythical prime versus prime matchup I think Hopkins takes him via decision or possibly KO. RJJ was fast and elusive, and he beat Hopkins. Calzaghe is fast and can be elusive, but likes to mix it up more than RJJ, which I think would play right into Hopkins hands. No doubt it would be a great fight though.
