for the sam and mccline match..whats an "interm" champion??? iv'e been in boxing for all my life, but im also mexican...so im pretty bad with the language...whats the deal?? is the "interm" champ a world champ?? by default?? or does it mean that his next fight will be a title shot?? please explain...thank u

It means he is champ until Oleg gets pissed off and demands a match.
and gets knocked out.
an interim champion is a farce where they can collect 'sanctioning' fees.

the wbc's 'real' heavyweight champion position is already taken, and that guy has been inactive for too long. the wbc is a business and they need to sanction fights to make money. one of their most important titles is tied-up by a guy who can't get it together, so they created a seperate heavyweight title and awarded it to the best available fighter (per their rankings). they did the same thing with rahman, when vit klit couldn't stay injury free long enough to make it through training camp. what will most likely happen is that peter will win a decision, oleg will probably stall again and be stripped, then peter's interim title will be converted to the real one. don't tell that to peter though, he already thinks he's the heavyweight champion of the world.
