But don't get mad now. 90% of the poeple ere on ESB were talking shit because Toney wanted a shot at the Title. Now that he's moving over, people are talking about ow he shouldn't.

LOL if James Toney, a washed up, blown up, out of shape middleweight who's career is marred by steroid suspensions is the best UFC can do to humiliate boxing... thats a good thing. James Toney is the only one getting humiliated here.

If an MMA fighter puts a rear naked choke on Toney, UFC has proved nothing.

100% correct. The UFC has already lost credibility as far as I'm concerned. Anytime a former WWF wrestler can come into your sport with no experience and win the title in a few months. Your sport is a joke. It would never happen in boxing.

I love how people forget former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia got KTFO in 8 seconds by an old man boxer.

In all honesty, I think Toney will get eaten alive against a top UFC hw. Even though he's not known to be a puncher, I think he could still KO some of those guys with 6 oz gloves, but if it goes to the ground, it will be over quick.

This is going to entertaining. I ordered Showtime for one month just to watch Hershel Walker's Strkeforce fight and I just might order the first pay per view with Toney. For the purist this might seem trite but for the casual fan who craves pure entertainment this is not to be missed.

Lesnar was also a legit collegiate wrestler, and a freaky huge, and good one at that.

Just that Wrestling translates better to UFC than boxing does.. The thing is, in reality the UFC's rules are more tailored to wrestlers and other forms of ground fighting, in part because that's what they want, and in part because it is safer for the fighters according to the athletic commission.

Wrestlers don't have to worry about getting stuffed, and having their skulls cracked by a few quick knees to the noggin.

Your post is so filled with personal bias and ignorance that it's ridiculous. First of all - Joe Rogan is a boxing fan and one of his favorite boxers is James Toney. The only people that ever talk about the so-called "boxing vs MMA fued" are ignorant boxing fans that feel threatened by the presence of another fighting sport in the world.

It is possible to enjoy both MMA and boxing without detracting from either. The times are changing so either get on board or go put your head back in your hole in the ground.

Even a washed up fat boxer has a good shot. I seriously doubt he will beat by striking. Even kicking will probably not work very well, I dont think anyone in UFC has the speed and footwork to kick at a skilled boxer. When you lift your foot up to kick and you stay in place, it is as if you are anchored to the floor leaving you vulnerable to the KO power he surely has.

someone gets grappling with him it will be a different story.

First of all - Joe Rogan is a boxing fan and one of his favorite boxers is James Toney.you are right in a lot of the things you say, and I like what you are getting at for the most part, but I am sick of mma constantly using this excuse of Joe rogan and dana white being "boxing fans" which somehow gives them credibility which they in turn use to say mma is better. Its seriously annoying and very illogical.

Dana put James in the UFC because James campaigned and received all the support needed to justify his contract.

wat an absolutely rediculous statement... his amateur wrestling back ground was tat of a division 1 champion... his professional wrestling back ground has fuck all to do with it, he was basically just an actor who used to wrestle

ffs, why cant people see that he has an unreal back ground in one of the major martial arts used in mma... his wrestling coupled with his strength are a match for anyone

how does it ?? if he strings a few wins together against top opposition then it will show them up, having him fight doesnt

in my opinion, he will have toney win 1 or 2 fights, so he can put him in against someone whos just going to pound him out in brutal fashion

hes certainly not going to put him in against a big threat first fight, just so he can loose & danas lost out on potential bigger fights down the line once hes got a few wins under his belt

Good post NBA (Though personally, I am one of the 10%:-)).

An MMA fighter giving old, fat, finished, James Tony a drubbing (In a cage and under MMA rules) does not humiliate boxing (imo), unless it was in a boxing ring and under Queensbury Rules.

come on sugarngold, only boxing fans bring it up? because i havnt seen boxing brought up in many mma magazines (one of them, in which i quote 'UNLIKE the boxing ring, theres nowhere to hide in a/the cage ), by mma movies ("boxing just dont cut it anymore bro") by mma fighters, and by just about every other casual mma fan who ask me if i like UFC and i say no im a boxing fan and then we have to discuss how boxing somehow isnt as good as mma. ONLY brought up by boxing fans, hardly.

And joe rogans 'boxing fan' card was revoked when he was trying to downplay the sport when talking to dibella on espn, a real fan would have said look, they are both great sports and just two different veins of the same body which is fighting, or something like that, not try to make fun of or downplay a sport hes such a big 'fan' of...

And ya, its fine to enjoy both sports.... just as it is to choose to NOT support mma.

That being said, although i hate this move, i dont think dana is doing this to humiliate boxing, if that was the case it wouldnt have taken james to do everything but get on his knees and beg dana (or did he do that too?) to get this contract.

Dana White is doing this to embarass boxing? That's ridiculous to the point of being offensive.

You do know it was James Toney pleading, nearly begging, for the opportunity to fight. Dana White, realistically speaking, had little choice but to give him a chance. What would you prefer him to do differently? He even tried talking him out of it. Once he realized that didn't work, he had a closed door session with Toney and managers and explained the situation clearly. (You can find the videos on YouTube)

What did Toney do, bend him over a table? Dana releases a stud like Werdum after one fight only to sign an aged overweight boxer who's not even relavent in boxing? Dana would promote a midget vs a Dog. He has no credibility or integrity to MMA.

Lesnar is just the right weight for UFC. Why have an upper limit on weight? He is used to cutting tons of weight to make weight. Guy probably is 280 plus when the fights start. He's usually fight guys that are 40 or more pounds lighter. Seems like another dumb UFC rule.
