On a positive note.....congratulations to Lenny Zappa
The drama over the margins on the judge’s scorecards on the weekend look to have overshadowed what was a fine and gutsy performance by Lenny Zappa on the World stage.
At 22 years of age Zappa stepped up in the states and fought a seasoned veteran who is a smart, strong and cagey fighter.
After a deep cut to his eye was opened up many could have forgiven Lenny for giving up or going on the defensive....however all credit to Zappa he picked up the pace, forced the fight, exchange freely in the zone and won the last 2 rounds and ultimately the fight.
We need to remember that Angulo has been in the ring with some of the best fighters in his division and that he also KO’ed aussie compatriot Renee Ganoy as well.
Team Zappa arrived back from overseas today, Lenny is well and in good spirits. Team Zappa was stunned to hear all the fuss over the decision
Tommy credited Zappas heart and courage to fight through such a bad cut and come out on top.
In the end this is boxing...and you can get a bad decision any day so enjoy the wins when they come.
Congratz Lenny...the new IBO champ

I'm waiting for the CD.
Scoring on P2P is pointless.
There is always a rush to judgment straight after a close fight.
I like to watch & score without listening to commentators who think it is all important that they predict a winner by the 3rd round, & all too often, when they are wrong, & the tide turns, it takes them a couple of those mid rounds to bite the bullet & get some real perspective on whose actually landing the scoring & damaging punches.

I think that did happen a bit....from the ringside reports Zappa looked a clean winner.....from where I sat it was very close

Rubbish. 9 out of 10 reports use the word robbery, gift etc. The further the fight went, the further Angulo pulled away.
That said, congrats to Zappa, hope he makes the most of his opportunities.

Now put your thinking cap on here PJ.
How many fights that have you seen, that have finished close have not had the words "robbery" & "Gift" proclaimed from the bell-towers.

Tend to agree. Zappa lost quite clearly IMO. If It was Zappa that got robbed we would be singing a very different tune.
Also if Angulo got the nod I don't think anyone would be crying robbery either. It was close, but there was a clear winner

Zappa won early rounds, middle rounds close. It was too close for comfort, but Zappa has lots of potential. Would love to see Roach train him.

I'm a huge Zappa fan. Been to see him fight many a time but I cant be happy with him getting a gift decision to be honest. Even though he is a favourite of mine these kind of decisions are what I hate about boxing.
Also I dare say, had Lenny not been given the win maybe he would have learnt more from the fight.
I guess we will find out when he next fights a decent opponent.
