Duran KO's him Davey Moore style. It's a no contest!

Duran has no hope of intimidating Greb as he got inside SRL's head before Montreal. Harry was utterly fearless. Additionally, Greb could take it downstairs, and typically had to. He could move in and out for 15 rounds, and finish strongly. Roberto is not matching hand and foot speed here. It's like Harry declared before Walker. Duran couldn't knock him out, and Greb would not try to knock El Cholo out. There would be no question in anybody's mind about who the winner was after 15. Even the Panamanian press would have declared Harry the victor here.

The fight doesn't come off. Pacquiao claims he is allergic to boxing.

But Duran was not great at 160lbs.

He was great at 135lbs and even at 147lbs, but he is going to come up short against the best 160 pounders.

Surely the fact that neither you or anyone else on here has ever seen Greb actually fight, should factor into the equation? Or at the very least not lead you to the conclusion that Greb is the definate victor here? And dont forget Iran Barkley

While the assumption may safely be made that nobody here ever saw him fight live, perhaps there are still some around who have seen movie house newsreel footage of Harry in competition, just as there are those who have seen silent film performances which are now considered to be "lost."

But we have seen Tunney fight, whom Greb beat twice. And he looks great. And what about Barkley? He was no more than a decent middleweight and Duran barely got past him. This matchup is not really fair. Greb is too big, too strong, too powerful. Duran had no legs @ 160lbs.

GREB UD. Come on, I love Roberto, but Greb was a better middleweight than Duran. Actually, he was a better fighter, period. Greb wasn't a KO guy, but he would win a decisive decision.

Oh right the Sicily that isn't in the Italian Republic and isn't inhabited by italians, okay.

And what is wrong with you guys??? I'm actually curious to who you'd pick. Duran is often matched up against 154lbers and 160lbers in poll threads. Why cant you analyse this one???

Don't make me get into the intricacies (spellcheck) of why it is wrong to label them the 'Italian Mafia', you will lose.

Anyway, i wouldn't even mind discussing it, going off accounts of Greb's fighting style etc etc, but i know you're trolling. Notice my earlier responses.

Don't be stupid, the Italian and Sicilian mafia are completely different, if your gonna make statements like this then at least know what your talking about.

Back on topic, Greb would beat Duran.

This may very well be the dumbest post that I have ever read. Congradulations on that, I guess. Have you ever seen Greb's record. He was stopped twice in around 300 fights. Once in his 7th pro fight, which he avenged and once because of a broken arm. He finished the round to by the way. He also fought again about two months later. Greb was one of the toughest, fastest, most determined, most fearless fighters of all time. I know the same can be said about Manos de Piedra, but Greb is levels higher, in my opinion.

In any case, Greb.

I am honestly not trolling. You are right in thinking that i dont rate Duran anywhere above LW and that i dont consider Greb because i havent seen him fight.

But...Duran is held in high regard @160lbs by some posters and if often matched up against them. Some people may consider modern greats to be somewhat superior, negating the prime weight issue or atleast making it interesting. These are the two most highly regarded fighters on this board, and i am generally curious to see opinions on this.

Well okay then, Greb. It's only right to say he wins it if nothing else.

Now what happens in Robinson-Pacquiao? (only kidding)

It would resemble Greb-Walker, with Duran having moments early and mid-way through due to his sophistication inside and his power, but Greb's pace was a killing one. Hagler wore him out after about 13 and he spent the night fighting with more implied aggression than aggression. Barkley forced an inspired Duran to dig very deep to grab a third wind, but Greb could be counted on to wear Duran out. He may even toy with him at the end.

Yes, because mind games are the only reason Duran won.Of course not. He beat down DeJesus twice without resorting to these tactics, and he obviously wasn't using smoke and mirrors when he dropped Barkley. He was brilliant at them though, disarming Palomino off balance by cordially asking for an autograph for his son, and we all know about the "Puta!" salute to Juanita Leonard. He was able to feint both into knots because of his punching effectiveness, and that's certainly an element of mind games. (Duran was actually very relaxed for Palomino, smiling broadly at the weigh-in while Carlos was on the scales, and grinning wolfishly when knotting up Palomino with his feints, not always burning with white hot intensity in that situation, one of his career finest.)

El Cholo could be somewhat diminished when he failed to intimidate, as the Viruet boys demonstrated.

Harry wouldn't bother trying trench warfare with the smaller Duran as SRL did in Montreal, but simply stick true to his usual initiatory formula of bouncing in and out volume, volume and more volume, complete with a healthy swarming assortment of stray thumbs, heels, laces, slaps, cuffs, backhands, elbows, head butts, shoulders, and whatever other incidental contact the referee might be too slow to discern.

Greb might also be flying around the ring like Fernandez did, only Roberto's body attack wouldn't dent Harry the way it packed up Vilomar's tent.

What happens when Duran thumbs his eye, as he did to Davey Moore, or punches him in the nuts, like he did to Buchanan? Ask Kid Norfolk! In this one, El Cholo is clearly the second baddest ass in the ring. (He'd be the third baddest if Dempsey refereed this thing. Jack would be my first choice to officiate this street fight. Anarchy rules!)
