How does the fact that he got caught with something in his wraps alter your perception of his legacy?

Tito didn't have "illegal stuff" in his wraps. He had tape on directly on his skin which is illegal in New York State but not in all states.

Yeah, I honestly don't think it's a huge deal. He could have done it in Vegas.

Theres something about the character of his KOs though, he looked like he had such sharp punching power as if he was carrying a bat or something, I like Tito hes great but damn it was like his gloves were rocks

Why should that be due to his wrapping technique?
You could make the exact same statement about Tyson. Something about his KO's with such sharp power that he carried a bat or something, but damn it was like his gloves were rocks. Right?
Some boxers are talented with a sick amount of power and it leads to sicking KOs. See Ruiz-Tua. All legit.

t's illegal to tape over the knuckles. Taping over the knuckles makes them harder. Then after they would tape the knuckles they would layer gauze on top of the knuckles.
Every fighter is allotted a certain amount of gauze and tape. Trinidad's dad had a way of layering it over the knuckles. He did not add more, or a foreign substance like Margarito, but rather wrapped the hands in a method that added more of the alloted tape to the knuckles, rather than to the wrist for added support. That's how it was explained at the time.
B HOP alleges then if you dip them in ice water they harden. The common practice is simply to use gauze to protect the knuckles.
It would give him an edge over his opponent

That's my understanding of it as well. So it doesn't change his legacy in the slightest for me.

Vargas was convinced and said of Tito's power "When I got hit, I was like Mike Tyson just hit me. I knew he was strong, but this was ridiculous. I couldn’t believe what he was hitting me with.”

Was he really surprised it when he gave Tito that sort of gap to counter? (1:18 in)

Theres been a few articles talking about how Titos handwraps would be like casts, not sure of the validity. I do think part of Titos ability was helped by wraps that protected his hands so he could keep banging hard and clean for the 12. That imo is better than wraps that damage your opponent but destroy your hands

trinidad was at least as big a hitter as Tyson for his weight class IMO, he had supernatural power in his left hook
Tua and Tyson are obviously powerful men, in Tua's case he has legs like have probably never been seen in boxing, Tito is a skinny normal looking boxer, not particularly muscled, ok with great technique and good speed but that goes for many top pros. He was certainly a natural puncher but how much did his allegedly dodgy wraps help I wonder, I must do some googling around

Rules are rules however if you're wise enough to look past the fact a rule was broken to the actual nature of the regulation, you'll find there isn't much in the argument of calling him a cheater or someone seizing the advantage by other means.
His team looks foolish if you want to be prude, but I wouldn't say corrupt.
Tito is a legend btw

Please do post anything you find, cause I would certainly like to know more about these "dodgy" wraps.

Yeah I remember Hopkins' trainer Nazim Richardson busted him but like someone said it was kind of marginal as it would be allowed in other states, just curious
Anymore feedback from people with a better knowledge is appreciated, but there are probably tons of threads about Tito's wraps Ill have a look sometime
