fuck that. nobody wants to see a boring repeat of the past. these seniors should just retire.
and fucking morales did what he had to do but he failed. it was obvious morales was completely shot after the first couple rounds, and people say that he got knocked because he 'fought harder'
ppl are just pissed they spent money on ppv.

i think in the end Morales career shows to better. He beat Pac and at his own game. The last good fight he had left and went out on a high note even if he got knocked the fuck out the next 2 fights. I betcha Barrera wishes he could have done to Pac what Morales did the first fight. And yes I am a biased Morales fan, but those are the facts.

MAB is not an idiot and that way of moving alot and way from Pac's powerful left hand was smart. If he went war he would have been destroyed and he and his team news this. He came up short and lost fair and square.

No OFFENSE to MAB . . . because I'm both a Pac fan and a MAB fan . . . but that's also my analysis.
MAB is waiting for Pac to come in and dish out good counters but that stops there. No follow up no further effort to really go after Pac and put him in trouble.
It's just to stop Pac's attacks.

the thing is, he was damn proud of it. he was saying in the post fight interview that many people thought he'd be gone in the third round. but there he was still standing after 12. fuck it. where was the tough mab who said that he wanted to beat pac so bad he could taste it? where was the mab who was out to prove that the 1st fight was a fluke?
i am really disappointed on how things came out. i know, I've always stated that i picked pacman to win by UD but no that way. i thought it will be an all out war, pac tried his best to make it into one but mab was just content on surviving.

That is the same thing Roy said in the fight after Tarver III. Where he just survived and then said that he was still standing after 12, even after coming off a KO that he didnt get KO'd blah blah. What about winning? Did they forget why they are in the ring in the first place?
I think they want to secure themselves, because they have deamons haunting them from a previous loss or losses; it gives them closure. Barrera had that Pacman beating deamon from their last fight, where he got f'd up bad, like never before. He wanted to prove to himself that he at least could go in there and not suffer the beating from before and he did it, so he feels in his own mind, he won. I dont know, but thats what think.

I also kept thinking of Jones in his third Tarver fight. And just like last night, Tarver was there to be taken that night, but Roy wasn't willing to take the chances.
The difference is that Barrera was coming off a very competitive performance against Marquez, whereas Jones had been starched by Johnson. MAB's performance was less predictable.

We are dissapointed because he didn't make any noticeable attempt to win after the first couple of rounds. He knew he was behind on points, and instead of fighting harder, he decided to take the loss and just survive.

everytime he managed to mount a decent offenside he ended up hurt at the end of the exchange. he was waiting around for pac to make a mistake. its not like he ran from him.

Morales can always say that when it came down to it...he beat Manny Pacquiao's ass that one night. That was a beautiful fight.
Fanny Pac should fight Marquez...the real danger out there for him right now...

That fight has to happen. I didn't even want Pac/Barrera II. Pac should win if he is focused, but he'll have to be better than he was last night. He got hit with some big punches from someone who wasn't really looking to land big punches.

good tactical fight where MAB looked better technically and Pac was very sloppy...I thought MAB outclassed the Pinoy. Pac vs JMM 2 NEEDS to happen, then go for GUZMAN - SOTO winner...actually Juarez - PAC would be fun cuz Pac will be the agressor...130 is hot
135 against Casa or Juan would be scary for PAC
A lot of morons in here..
An old legend and one of the greatest ring warriors of this era who has given boxing fans numerous great fights decides to box against an extremely dangerous pressure fighter during his prime in his last fight and people question his toughness? You're making it seem like he ran for 12 rounds. He boxed very well and exchanged punches on many occasions. He just didn't throw a lot of punches and knew that he couldn't get into an all out brawl that would make him end up destroyed like Morales.
Fuck all of you who say that Barrera doesn't have balls. You're probably the same people who think the Gatti-Ward fights are the greatest fights ever and they're the toughest fighters ever. Any boxing fan with minimal knowledge and half a brain wouldn't even think about calling Barrera a bitch.

Your post would be a lot better and more convincing if you removed the bold text.
Anyways, if he wasn't going to try for the KO when behind, why take the fight? He must of known that there was only a small chance of outpointing PAC if he only threw a few punches a round.
In world class boxing, where fans pay $50 just to watch you fight, you have a duty to try as hard as possible to win. Fighters with a will to win don't give up as soon as they fall behind on points. Barrera would have never fought like that in his younger days.
He does not get brownie points just for choosing a tough opponent. Spinks didn't get brownie points for fighting the bigger man in Taylor.

Pac also got hurt from some exchanges. There were a few times when Pac got stunned, but MAB just backed off. Do you remember in the earlier rounds when Pac got stunned for about a second and a half from a huge hook, but MAB had already backed off? If Barrera was more aggressive, that COULD have been a KD.
Saying that he was "waiting for Pac to make a mistake" is just a sugar coated version of the truth. Pac did make mistakes, and was stunned, but MAB showed no intention of taking any risks.

I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that he could have given it a little more yesterday, even though he's old. People here are just disrespecting him completely. They're acting as if he left the ring in his last match as a pussy and that's what they'll remember him as.
Barrera took this fight because he was embarassed about the first fight and he thought he could do much better this time. He did well, but he felt weak at this point in his career against a great fighter in his prime and brawling with Pacquiao completely during the last 2 rounds would be a stupid thing to do, especially because it would have led to him getting KO'ed like in the first fight. I already said that I felt like he didn't give it his all in this fight, but considering all that he's been through he even surprised me with how well he did. I'd rather see Barrera box well for 12 rounds but look old rather than see him brawl for a few rounds and get destroyed like Morales did.
And by the way, there were a lot of great exchanges in this fight and I don't think it was a boring fight at all. People just expect nothing less than an all out war when they watch Manny and MAB in ring, so that's why it didn't live up to the expectations. Barrera fought really tough yesterday and you can't argue with that.. he just looked old and not as confident as he used to be.

I remember thinking Pac won although barely against Marquez the first time.
But rewatching, I thought Marquez really won it. He made Pac look just as bad, maybe worse, than Morales did. I remember hearing Freddie Roach thought Marquez was a TERRIBLE style fight for Pac.
I think Marquez would win the rematch...he made Pac look flat out foolish for a number of rounds. He exploits something that Pac still has wrong...bad footwork. Marquez could definitely pull the upset, and now with his win over MAB, it should happen.

I thought Manny took it based on his work late in the fight. Also, I think the first round was something of a Mack/Andrade effect. Manny saw a quick night's work, and he became even wilder than usual in the middle rounds. Once he settled down, he became more effective.
Moreover, I think he has improved since 2004, while Marquez has slipped a little. But this is a style problem for him, no doubt. He'll have to take this fight seriously.

My favorite part of the trilogy(other than MAB breaking Morales' nose in the 3rd fight) was when MAB held his fingers in Morales' face after victory. Like if he was saying, "In yo face, son. In yo face" :yep

I disagree on JMM. I think he's shown to be about the same now than before. While he's slowed a bit...he's also a lot more offensive now, which has helped him put guys away.

To me, Marquez looks like he's lost speed, and a slower, more aggressive Marquez isn't the style of fight with Pacquiao he needs. But he always will have greater technique than Pac and at this point seems more focused and has more to prove.
This is my No. 1 anticipated fight at 130.
