Ok... I don't mind Schmeling getting picked over Jeffries in an upset but Quarry over Louis!!! Come on man!
Yes, I picked Folley over Langford. I think Folley could win a close decision.

EAST:
1. Muhammad Ali vs 8. Jim Braddock
Ali takes Braddock lightly. Braddock is in peak condition and makes this the fight of Ali's life. Ali wins a close Split Decision.
4. Jack Sharkey vs 5. Mike Tyson
Sharkey took Dempseys best for most of the fight and actually was winning until Dempsey finally caught him. I dont think tht Mike has the same late round ability as Dempsey to catch Sharkey. Saying that, i think that Mike in his prime does enough to dominate early and if he doesnt stop him, he does enough to hang on to a dominant points win.
3. Joe Jeanette vs 6. Riddick Bowe
I think Riddick in his prime was bigger and stronger. He is actually very underated on a head to head basis most of the time. Bowe, by comfortable UD.
2. Jack Johnson vs 7. Ingemar Johansson
I think that this is a fight where Johnson has a far better legacy. Like with any other fight against the white hopes, Johnson dominates and toys with his opponent. As good as Ingemars right was, it is slow and quite hard for him to set up against such a master. Johnson toys with him for the majority of the fight. In the last round there is no repeat of the Stanley Ketchell performance. When Ingo lands the Bingo, Johnson doesnt get up! Ingemar scores a stunning upset.
SOUTH:
1. Sam Langford vs 8. Zora Folley
Langford - This could go be a close fight, but i think that the naturally smaller Sam has enough power to stop Folley in a decent fight KO10.
5. Rocky Marciano vs 13. Primo Carnera
This could create a storm on ESB at the moment. Primo has the size, reach, strength and heart to beat Rocky. Rocky is a better fighter all round but does have big size limitations here. I am going to go with an unusual pick here. Primo keeps Rocky at bay for the entire fight and builds up a comfortable lead in a close fight where Primo shades the rounds but Rocky is never in trouble. In the final round (the 10th!). Rocky eventually wears down primo and knocks him down 7 times but Primo keeps getting up and is eventually saved by the bell. Primo wins because a 10 point must scoring system is not Used.
3. Joe Frazier vs 6. Jack Dempsey
Well this one certainly deserves its own thread and consideration. Maybe te greatest fight of all time. Jack Dempsey wins a Split Decision, but maybe just maybe it his popularity and the crowds influence on the judges that gives him the slight advantage. Truth be told, both fighters leave enough in the ring to be shadows of themselves after this one and very likely will progress no further in this tournament, because of this fight.
2. Evander Holyfield vs 7. Max Baer
Max Baer surprises everyone he shows similar size strength and power to what Bowe did in the first Holyfield fight. Evander does land plenty but does not seem to hurt him. Baer scores the upset and wins the fight.
NORTH:
1. Harry Wills vs 9. Bob Pastor
Harry Wills wins by comfortable decision.
4. Jimmy Bivens vs 5. Sonny Liston
Jimmy causes Sonny some surprising problems but Sonny liston proves to big and strong. Liston KO 8
3. Lennox Lewis vs 6. Billy Miske
Miske has never faced anyone like Lewis and Lewis has never fought anyone like Miske. Lewis cannot fight his usual style behind the jab and Miske is elusive and hard to hit. It is not until late in the fight that Lennox solves the puzzle and starts to land and hurt Miske. Lennox KO 12.
2. Larry Holmes vs 7. Tommy burns A very, very interesting one. Tommy couldnt land on Johnson, but Holmes didnt smother and clinch like Johnson. Tommy actually finds his wa inside the Jab and lands hard on Holmes. Both fighter have to show incredible heart and both get up from knock downs on the other. Holmes takes a razor thin majority decision. After the fight, Holmes admits that Tommy was the toughest fighter he faced during his prime.
WEST:
1. Joe Louis vs 9. Jerry Quarry
Jerry Quarry is outclassed. Joe Louis TKO4. He is teeing off at will by this time.
4. Jersey Joe Walcott vs 5. George Foreman
This has upset written all over it. Foreman cannot catch Jersey Joe, whose footwork confuses him. Foreman just cannot land the clean punch. Joe wins a very close MD but plenty in the crowd think it should go the other way.
3. Max Schmelling vs 11. Jim Jeffries
A very difficult fight. Schmelling though is a little underpowered and struggles to counterpunch the bigger Jeffries who does a lot of clinching. Jeffries wears him down and takes him out in the 15th.
2. Floyd Patterson vs 10. Eddie Machen
This one should have actually happened, except Ingemar Johansen knocked them both out! I am going with Eddie to take a close SD. He seemed to have a better record against common opponent Sonny Liston and he also seemed to do a touch better against the quicker but less power ful fighters that Floyd is. I am in an upset mood at the moment though. Machen close UD.

Patterson-Machen already happend.
EDIT: Though both were past their primes, I think prime for prime would be closer but still a Floyd victory.

Still got some undecided ones, + 2 ties....c'mon I don't wanna have to do a coin flip for the tie breaker (heads to the higher seed if necesary):
Frazier and dempsey tied at 6
Walcott and foreman tied at 6

i simply copied GPATER's picks with one major fix of Foreman winning against Walcott. and who knows ? i give quarry a good chance against louis , but still picked louis as he was a better fighter and deserves more the overall respect. but had they fought each other , i don't know.
also , it was very hard accepting marciano over carnera , but i left it that way.
