I really think we've reached an all time low...
Sam Peter - Fraud
Mccline - blows
Calvin Brock - Glass Chin, crap
Brewster - Shot
Briggs - who cares
Oleg - old, injured
Vitali - injured/retired?
Valuev - fighting bums again
Toney - overweight and on steriods
Holyfield - title shot, on the verge of a heart attack
Imbragimov - Disgrace, defending title against ol' man holyfield.
Williamson - put to sleep by meehan.
Byrd - Old and pretty useless
Ruiz - Ruiz
Rahman - overweight , fighting bums
Tua - see above^^^

Well stated with the caveat that Sultan wanted to fight Chagaev, who cancelled.

Povetkin looks very good. So does Chagaev, and Ibragimov. Let's see how these three Russians do in their next fights.

Ibragimov was supposed to defend against Chagaev who miraculously recovered. If anyone is the disgrace it's Chagaev.

I am not as pessimistic as you seem to be!
The big problem is that the mechanism of pro business heavily work against the interests of us fight fans.
There are some very interesting faces out there, but they are not really marketable and they dont get a shot at a world title.
Vladimir Virchis is probably the biggest banger out there.Nevertheless he doesnt get a shot at a world title.Very high risk, very little reward!
He is a quite entertaining boxer, and a fresh and new face.Besides he truly deserves a title shot.
Alexander Povetkin, the former amateur superstar ,turned pro a couple of months ago,and he soon faces Chris Byrd in his 13th pro fight.
Bloody interesting fight IMO.
Chagaev will very soon retur to the ring, too.
According to some rumour Chagaev vs Valuev II could take place within the next couple of months.
Vitaly Klitschko still believes in an comeback, and Oleg Maskaev hasnt uttered any wish to retire yet.
Lyakhovich will be hot agains as soon as he defeats Ruiz.
Brook vs Chambers is a promising fight.
Youngsters like Dimitrenko(takes on HOffman),Bidenko(will face Arias),and Boytsov will make some noise ,too.
Okay,Peter totally disappointed his fans against McCline, but he has been overhyped anyway. He had two lame fights against that fat dwarf Toney, had to go the full route against feather fisted Croation heavy weight Jovo Pudar, and was kicked out of the olympic tournament by Paolo Vidoz.
Sam Peter as well as other names like Vidoz,Calvin Brook,Estrada, and so were nobodies at the amateurs where they didnt dare to cross Povetkin's dominating shadow.
Povetkin now fights at the paid ranks. The great Cuban amateur Oldanier Solis, too.
IMO the heavy weight decision is getting more and more fascinating.Peter is nothing special, but they are bigger and more interesting fish in the pond.

yeah and that's only because of povetkin.
no one wants to see byrd winning it do they. :yep
the division is a wasteland.
it desperately needs some new blood.
and preferably an american.

Yeah, because if no American is on top the division sucks per definition.

To me it seems all the fighters lately cant get in shape. These guys are getting paid millions to box. Thats all they do in their lives, and guys like taylor, and Peter, and Mcline, Briggs, they cant even fight for 4 or 5 rounds without getting winded. Thats why guys like Pavlik can be successful, because they come ready to fight 12 hard rounds. The heavyweight division is a total joke.

I dont pay much attention to the heavyweight division anymore. I like cruisers much better now that they increased the weight limit and the guys actually come in shape.

 That made me laugh.
Same here.
But on the bright side, McCall is looking really strong and we've got the resurgence of Kali Meehan who you may recall engaged in a classic bout of limited abilities with Lamon Brewster (which he should have won btw but, hey, this is boxing :conf).

The more heavyweight fights that I see, the more respect I have for Wlads preparation. Too bad he still does not get the kind of respect he deserves.

The thing is about everyone on that list is old than dirt. The HW division needs to push out the old guard and start focusing more one the young gun's battles, both US and European (Arreola, King Pin, Povetkin, Solis, Chambers, etc.) Although we may not yet regard them as greats, I doubt we'll see all this huffing and puffing and endless injury reports.
It is crazy how much better Wlad is than all of these current guys. Like somebody said he should start blastin these dudes out 5 times a year. Hell, I doubt many fights will last 4-5 rounds so it shouldn't be that taxing on him. The new bum of the month club.

No doubt. Perhaps the only way to truly get the respect is to start knocking them off like flies. I have no doubt he could blast off atleast 2 in one night.
