Gerry aint shit! Just another little creation of the Philipines. The fight he won against Gonzales he was getting his ass whooped until he landed that one lucky punch. De Leon should finish him off this time around. He just needs to land one left and Gerry can go out to the nursing home where he belongs.

De Leon by KO.
Don't let the lucky KO punch against Gonzales fool you guys. De Leon is going to apply to much pressure and hits too hard for Pensola to every let his hand loose. Easy fight for De Leon.

This fight is pointless, the first fight was pretty boring although it was hillarious seeing Deleon running from a defensive fighter much much smaller than him.
I see the same outcome, Deleon winning by outworking Penalosa.

i see another close match which Leon will outwork him.

I thought De Leon won the fight the first fight by about 10 rounds. His sheer punch putput swept him rounds in my opinion, even if Penalosa was the more accurate puncher, De Leon was throwing 100+ punches a round and while Penalosa was catching many of them on his gloves, it was just too big of a discrepancy. i dont see this fight going any different:nod

I see the same thing. I'm a big Penalosa fan, but he's either going to be careful and let Deleon dictate the fight by outworking him, or he's going to open a lot more and go on the attack, which if he does, he's going to get hurt (not sure if he'll get KO'ed, Penalosa has a great chin).
Unless he somehow floors PDL with a couple of counters, he'll have a chance. But considering how much many flush counters he landed on PDL in the first without PDL even wincing, I just don't see it happening.
I thought it was hilarious too, how Ponce was trying "box" Penalosa at the end of the fight by slapping and running.

penalosa hasn't been KD'd or KO'd in his 60+ fights. he's probably one of the best filipino technical boxers ever. if ponce wins, it will be via decision as penalosa's defense is very fundamentally sound to allow ponce to land his punches squarely.

De Leon is ducking Juan Manuel Lopez.no hes duckin Caberllo whatever his name is.

Yeah, and he still won those rounds by "slapping" about 90 times. Penalosa doesnt have the speed or power to give De Leon serious trouble. I dont see how this fight can be any different from the first. De Leon will just outwork him easily to a wide UD. Penalosa has a fabulous chin, but he knows he cannot go toe to toe with De Leon. Ponce is alot stronger than he is. And faster
Yup. Gerry's a great figher but Ponce by UD again.

ow man. i really like gerry but de leon is all wrong for him!!! i honestly believed him when he said he'd retire after inning the championship against gonzales. he should have kept his word. IMHO, de leon won the first fight but the gerry won more rounds than what the judges scored.
sorry gerry, but i have to say de leon by UD again

De Leon should fight Celestino "The Towering Inferno" Caballero, his only loss
in his career.

bad fight for gerry... he should already retire after the gonzales bout... PDL with a wide Unanimous decision... i dont see Penalosa getting Ko'd he has never hit the canvas and he never will...

I say it's not a good move for Penalosa to face De Leon again. Ponce De Leon will starch Gerry this time. Hanging gloves should be the next wise move after winning over Gonzales.

I have to go for Gerry, but I know it'll take a nightly prayer revival for him to win this fight. Ponce is getting better.

if punches thrown is a factor then i concede my case, quality of punches and effectiveness belonged to penalosa.

penalosa wants this fight and is not scared of dpl. Afterall, his monicker "fearless" is not without substance. If you watch the first fight, the size difference is so great, however, not once was penalosa ever tested with dpl's power. Penalosa was practically unmarked after the fight because most of the >thousand punches thrown by dpl either hit the gloves, elbow, or air. In contrast, DPL had swellings in his face. He was repeatedly tagged by a counter. A classic example was in the second round.

The problem with Penalosa is that he throws very few punches but his defense is par excellence. You can not find a better , active fighter with his defense. Even in the Gonzales fight, Gonzales was winning not because he was connecting but because he was throwing more punches.
If the DPL fight happens, the same pattern would probably emerge. DPL can not get reckless with Penalosa because Penalosa has a very respectable power. Likewise, you can not expect Penalosa to trade with DPL because it is obvious where the power lies with.

Great rematch, it is still fresh in both fighters minds, first time I sensed Ponce De Leon had to change his approach and box effectively against a very dangerous, seasoned power counter puncher... De leon is definitely the DarkHorse of the 122 pounders and should get a big rematch with Caballero or a fight with winner of rubber match Vazquez-Marquez if Penalosa doesn't get him like he did to Jhonny Gonzales, still Mexico vs Phillipines!

Man this sucks, De Leon should be moving forward with other opponents instead of taking this rematch. Pointless fight IMO.
I think he should be fighting Caballero or another ranked fighter from his division to get closer to Rafa or Izzy.
