gavin, although i know amateur pedigree does not always guarantee pro success, he has looked most comfortable at pro level, and is the person right now you would be happiest out of the olyimpians to put into at least and english title fight straight away.
Plus his skill level is exeptional

cleverly is already making huge strides and for a part time boxer is doing very well, when he finishes his degree and concerntrates 100% on his boxing, i'm certain he will go on to do great in the light-heavyweight division

Gavin probably Groves could do well

I think Groves. He looks like he has something a little bit special if you ask me.

Exciting bunch though!!!

I think all 6 boxers could go onto win World titles, but if pushed I'd choose Kel Brook closely followed by Cleverley and Groves

03-15-2010, 07:36 AM
Too early to tell for most of these, but out of them all I think Gavin looks like he has the potential to be genuine world class. The rest could probably win a title of sorts. I'd rate Groves, Bellew and Clev in the next bracket.

Gavin, Bellew, Groves, and Cleverley could all realistically go onto world honours. I like Brook but I think the welter division will be really really hard for him to break into. Personally I don't see DeGale getting into the mix on the world scene either

Its a funny old game. Not long back most people (including me) were backing BJ Saunders for pro success. But after a couple of fights you could clearly see he was well overweight and not dedicated. Now he does not even make this poll.

I reckon Brook is made for the pro ranks. Gavin will run him close in terms of success. DeGale will be found out soon unless he changes trainers soon. JMcD will not take him anywhere.

Bellew-his respect for the sweet science might grow a very good technician. The power helps as well.

Frankie Gavin is the best out of the lost though, technically IMO

Saunders just isn't that impressive IMO. Albeit, he's only a pup, anything can happen

Just shows how good the prospects are coming out of our small little island. I think all of em will be good enough for a paper world title, but I'd choose Gavin as the one who could mix with the very best at LWW. Groves as well although SMW is a pretty tough division atm. TBH I haven't seen much of Bellew but I hear a small amount of praise for him on here, just a bit though

Yep, and not that long into the future either IMO. Daws soon and then onto European and World honours. His skillset is mind blowing, obviously an admirer of Sweet Pea.

Kell Brook for me ... its a tough division but this guy hasnt shown us half wat hes capable of yet ...

Even Johnny Nelson said what this guy does in the gym he hasnt even shown that in the ring yet ... he could be something really special !

Also think groves will make waves in the next year or two

I like Gavin the most

He is not one of those dopey fighters that belives its ok to get hit at this level because 'it doesnt hurt'. His defence is already quality and he is a pup in this game. Imagine in 2- 3 years time with the right fights

You can imagine how many quality fighters he is gonna stand on their head in the future

as much as i think frankie gavin will be an international superstar, i think bellew will be winning world LHW belts and then going on to be Britains next world HW champion after david haye.

Id like to say i agree with you mate but i think to say thats a little ambitious would be an understatement !!!!

I picked Gavin and looking down the list i had Bellew in at 2nd im a big fan of his ability's but a HW , no way , not in todays game , at least the pro game as im fully aware of Tony's ama background .

Gavin is superb technically but I think Brook has that raw talent (and power) to be a great success at welter. A great bunch of prospects though.

Groves and Gavin have excellent potential if they are coached right.

I've always been impressed with Bellew right from the amateurs.

DeGale certainly has the talent but I suspect he'll come a cropper at some point although I hope I'm wrong.

Can't see Brook progressing to world stage

I think De Gale. Ive actually liked alot of what ive seen from him. He gets cut no slack from the ESB faithful but with his ring entrances and poor Naz impression,i can understand that.

I see the bandanna sporting mathematician going all the way. He seems to have a rare focus. Just needs to polish his skills which I believe he will do when he is able to dedicate himself to boxing 100%. World Champion within 18 months.

I think Mitchell and Gavin have what it takes too.

I personally said Gavin, The kids unreal, Frightening at times and can do everything, Add to that the power he's starting to generate you have yourself a formidable fighter. I think Frankie is the best fighter I have ever worked with and possibly the best I've ever witnessed live too, The better fighters he fights the better and more polished he'll look. If this country get's behind him like they did Hatton then I swear we'll have a superstar on these shores we really will!!!:good

Yeah I voted for Gavin anyway but just thought it was odd that BJS gets left off the list. The buzz seems to have died down a bit about him for some reason but I remember when those 3 all first left the amateurs he was the one they thought would be most natural in the pro game. He's looked pretty good to me.

Don't think BJ has fought this year has he?

Anybody know if he has anything planeed?

Tony Bellew
03-16-2010, 08:09 AM
Frankie always says how talented BJS is. To be honest I didn't see him that much in the am's as I left the week he got fully drafted in but I trained with him a few times and watched him spar a few times and add to that I've been at every one of his pro fights I think he could be something special, Add to that Frankie's assesment and you could have yourself another top fighter...:good

I think he was meant to be on the Frank ****** bill up north but there's no mention of it on Boxrec so he must've picked up a niggle or something.

i think tony has the technical skills and he certainly has the frame to be a comfortable heavyweight. moste heasvyweights now are slow, unlike tony, so i think he could go on to fight at world heavyweight level

Well with no offence to Bellew, Cleverly is more proven thus far being a Brit, Commonwealth and Euro champion whilst just being 23. And Groves is a top talent who has, correct me if I am wrong, been getting the best sparring out of the bunch of them and has looked impressive in the pro game and is stepping up faster than most as well.

It's just down to opinions, although I rate Gavin as the best :good

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, No questions asked.. I don't think that I'll end up a heavyweight to be honest although I do dream about it to be honest..:hey

As for the choices, All the fighters named are top fighters and more than capable of winning a world title, I just feel Gavin has that little something extra. I think Mitchell has a chance of being something very special too. Still I stick with Britains only world am champ to become our next huge boxing star!!

Flea Man
03-16-2010, 08:55 AM
I believe I may have been the first shouting'Daws for Gavin' as it's such a winnable fight (would be competitive though I think) and it's plainly obvious that as a top-class amateur whose skills have lost none of their potency in his transition to the pro game, he should be
moved pretty quickly. I hope he fights all the best in the division though, I'm not a fan of jumping up in weight to grab an easy strap.

Frankie Gavin looks like a 140lb fighter. I think that in a year or so he should be fighting an Ndgoujo or Kotelnik-level fighter. Hopefully Daws later on this year though. It'd be great to have a British fighter on the World scene like Frankie Gavin: So far a good example of The Sweet Science.

Frankie Gavin looks the complete package so far,and with his amount of amateur experience i think he would be able to beat Daws in his next fight and should be a big star in the next couple of years.
I also think Groves could be a bit special and I'm looking forward to him fighting Adamu next month.
