Hi all, tonight i went to a circuit training class and got cramp really bad. I also lately get it when im boxing. I get it very badly in the calves and its extremely painful. Just after any tips you have for prevention. I normally drink lots of water but i didn't today which might be to blame.

Cheers all :good

Lack of water is probably the main reason as far as I'm aware,
Do you have a little stretch before you work out? Make sure your properly warmed up, start real slow and build up the intensity of your workout.

If you get it in your calves quite a lot, do bodyweight calf raises raises to build in endurance.
What kind of leg training do you do?

Also, electrolyte imbalance can also cause cramps...

Check if you're not getting enough through your diet.

Lack of Potassium may also cause cramps... bananas are good.

thanks guys i dont think its diet i eat a pretty healthy balanced diet. I think the main reason last night must have been lack of water. Also i ran a couple miles before the circuit training started and tried to stay warm but the instructor was late so i think i cooled down slightly. Just have to put more thought in before hand next time. To be honest i didnt expect the class to be that hard, but i found out the guy who runs it used to box haha serves me right i guess
