View Full Version : You Sam Peters haters. . .
you guys absolutely kill me.
Ive watched the knockdowns over and over. The first knockdown is hard for me to even call a knock down. McCline bumped into him with his shoulder. . peters was already falling back on his heels, the punch just basically pushed him off his feet while he was unbalanced.
The second knockdown was a clean hard uppercut. Peters took a hell of a shot and stood back up.
The third knockdown was also Peters getting pushed by a bigger man, but he was definately still hurt and hanging on after getting hurt.
But, why does he get no credit for standing back up 3 times and outboxing McCline the rest of the fight to take the win??? I had him ahead by 2 rounds at the end of the fight.
What else can you expect of a fighter? Hes one of the most entertaining heavy's we see out there. He took a fight he didnt even need to take on a week notice AND after a nine month layoff. He faced adversity and tasted the canvas for the first time and he didnt shell up like all the other heavys do. . he fought on and changed the fight.
So he got dropped really by 1 monsterous uppercut and now he has a glass jaw all the sudden???? You guys are dellusional. He showed that his boxing skills are improved. . doubling the jab all night, had better cardio then McCline, a good punch output, and lets face it, McCline was a mountain next to Peters.
Sam will only continue to get better. I think right now the only person that beats him is Wlad. . . IF, IF, Wlad can keep from getting knocked out.

Outside of getting knocked down, Peter's (btw, it's PETER, not PeterS) performance was quite good, and he deserves credit for getting back up to win the fight.
And sure, the talk of his having a "glass jaw" is WAY premature. All this shows is that his chin is not quite as rock solid as the Wlad fight made it appear. Neither, however, is it as bad as it looked in the third round of the McCline fight.
I am still convinced that Peter will win a title, and maybe even unify. Personally, I hope he DOES develop into the dominant champion many of us thought he would be. It would be GOOD for BOXING if he did.

I'll say it again. Sam walked into this thinking McCline couldn't hurt him so he disregarded defense. It was apparent in round 1 that he had no respect for McCline's power.
Just look at what happened with McBride - Golota. McBride had Golota stunned and we all know Golota can take a punch. Sam just fucked up last night. You just cannot under any circumstances take clean shots from a man 6'6 260lbs. I don't care if you have an iron chin.
Of course Klitco is going to say that Sam has no chin and Waldo will kill him in a rematch. Funny isn't it? That Waldo couldn't get that done the first time. Too bad for them they leave out the fact that Sam didn't take Waldo lightly and kept his guard up all night. Which he will do in a rematch as well.

Chagaev would make clown shoes out of Peter.. Probably Ibragimov, would too.
I don't see Peter beating any other titleholder. I don't even see him beating Maskaev to earn the WBC title.

Scam Cheater couldn't even beat Chris Byrd much less any of the current REAL champions or the prospects like Povetkin. It's only a matter of time before Wlad destroys his ego again.

Peter doesn't have a glass chin...He took some serious shots against wlad...The problem is that he just fought James Toney twice...A defensive fighter with 0 power at heavyweight...This means that he hasn't taken a real hard heavyweight shot since he fought Wlad which was September of 2005! Of course his chin is going to be a little bit shaky!

like he did last time??
clinching, running and dropping to his knees wont scare peter off im sure:D
First lean how to spell Peter and then start talking your shit, okay.
dude whatever. . . im not talking shit. Everything i said is the truth. The sad part is that when Sam beats all these guys people are saying he cant beat. . the hate for this guy will be even stronger.
Ive also been reading how people are bashing peter for breaking his hand in sparring. When peter held his hand up to the camera you could definately see some lumps and swelling on the hand. You guys cant even give him the benifit of the doubt because you have to have every reason you can find to hate the dude.
Why has nobody brought up the fact that McCline is a "jerk"? He had his oppertunity in the 3rd round. . couldnt close the show. . and ran out the ring all but hurt because of judges decisions to give peter a fight that he WON regarless of the early knockdowns.
seriously, if you have no arguement 'other then the slight over look in me typing his name as peters' then why even come in here and type anything at all?

Any heavyweight with good boxing skills can beat Sam Peter. Fortunately for Sam Peter, there aren't many heavies of that calibre at the moment. Nevertheless, some of the up and coming prospects like Alexander Povetkin and Eddie Chambers have potential. Sam Peter's days at the top are numbered. I agree with Zakman that it is always good to have a heavyweight PUNCHER as the undisputed champion of the world. But for anybody to be a real champion, he has to have more than a punch.

Sam showed he was extremely limited, had a poorous defense and did not have that granite chin people thought. He's a great heavyweight, but the next champ? What I saw in his last three fights tells me Peter cannot defeat Wlad again, and the younger Klitschko is gonna be the man for a LONG time.

That's exactly why I've been saying since the Wlad fight that if Peter can get himself a decent trainer, who help him develop some rudimentary boxing skills, he COULD unify. Peter seems to have done that in bringing Stacy McKinley on board. Unfortunately, they've retained the incompetent Pops Anderson, and kept him as the main cornerman - which is part of what is holding Peter back, imo.
Peter will NEVER be a smooth boxer. But with some refinements so he can set up his power shots better, and deliver them more accurately, he COULD become the dominant champ many of us thought he could be. Let's remember he's STILL under 30, which is YOUNG in the HW division. He's got time to improve.

And if Pyllis Diller can get herself a good makeup artist, she could become Miss America.

I think this was the case too.... Just way too overconfident... If he's smart, he learned a valuable lesson last night that can help him throughout the rest of his career.
Boxing is a sport of upsets and most all of them occur when one guy comes in thinking that the other guy has NO chance.

If you were hired to replace Pops Anderson I am sure you know exactly how Sam Peter's training should change. But you have to understand that Peter likes Anderson, so it is very likely that he won't listen to anybody else. On that basis it seems unlikely that Peter will improve as a boxer and chances of him becoming an undisputed champion are small at best.
Our best hope for the next Joe Louis appears to be coming from Russia, perhaps Boytsov or Povetkin. Sadly they aren't getting the right kind of training either, but I think they train a little more seriously than Peter.
