Im reading this Polish article, and they are interviewing Evander. He says basically that if he gets past Ibragimov, he would like to fight Andrew Golota! Also in the interviw Holyfield says he will get past Ibragimov with ease. By the looks of things, Holyfield is very confidents on beating Ibragimov. Also says other things like that hes not intimidated by fighting in Russia.
Holyfield v Golota. What a fight this might be eh? Two fighters that are well known for their fights with Riddick Bowe, might square off in the future?

I think Holyfield would win a fairly sloppy UD - either way it would be filled with head butts and low blows :hey

If true, Holyfield is way out of line naming his next opponent.
He has all he can handle in Ibragimov and frankly will be lucky if he can escape a brutal beating in Moscow.

Holyfield knows Golota has a huge name which means big money fight. Plus Golota beat the crap of Bowe who beat Holy twice. Holyman's way of getting indirect revenge and correct old wrongs. Too bad Golota would end up beating Holyfield half to death.

Not necessarily, but who would want to see it?
Oh wait, legions of people who still think it's 1996 and deluded Poles who think Golota can still fight.
But seriously, Holyfield isn't winning against Sultan, so why even speculate on such drivel.

I like and respect Holyfiled but I don't know if he's going to be able to get past Sultan. It's going to be interesting.

Golota-Holy...I guess it depends on IF he beats Iggy. Which he can.

Who are you to say Holy doesn't have one left in him?
A realist who realizes that Holyfield has been completely shot for about 5 years, and pretty much washed up since his second fight with Lewis.

Don't be delusional. I'd bet my house that Holyfield beats Golota. At the least, Holyfield is a durable man that can take a beating. While Golota was in the process of beating up on old man Holy, he'll all of sudden lose his mind and so something funky and Holy may even initiate that.
It takes determination and mental stability to give the sound beating you need to beat Holyfield. Golota, for all his physical talents, has no head. It's sad but true. What could have been is entirely and unfortunately - irrelevant.

Who would get warned first for an illegal move.
This sounds bad. Iīm rooting for Holyfield, but he really needs to be humble regarding this title fight. Iggy is nothing special, but he is a belt holder and beated Shannon Briggs to it. Not that Iīd consider Briggs special either, but Holyfield hasnīt demonstrated anything supernatural since coming back. Ibragimov is this best opponent since Larry Donald. He should fear a bit. Itīd make him better.

I really hope Holyfield wins. I know its just me being disillusioned, but I love Holyfield, he has been my favorite fighter for almost 20 years, and I could never root agaisnt him.
Wow, i didn't know that. That's really cool cuz I'm the same way. I haven't been able to really connect with any of today's fighters the way I have with Holyfield. When he would lose it would hurt. I don't know what the future holds for him but I would really like to see him win for nostalgic reasons. Funny thing is that I actually believe he can do it. You just can't count the guy out.

so much for unification :patsch
after iggy's team did all that chest beating over unification they went silently into the night by picking an old warhorse to defend against.
to be fair i guess beating a name, even an ancient one will only help in selling a more lucrative unification match afterwards.
but aside from that i got the impression holyfield was hellbent on retiring as the unified champ. errr, well fighting golota isn't exactly unification.
either he isn't THAT delusional and knows his best chance is against iggy for a belt, then milk it against an equally old and faded fighter in golota. it makes logic sense but i was falling again for all that BS.
god damn, no matter who wins i really do hope they dont shrug off unification. wladimir isn't fighting until late feb/ early march. no excuses!!!!!

I have the same feelings. Holyfield just epitomized to me what a boxer was. The guy had such incredible heart and determination, he was a warrior in every sense of the word. I really do want him to win, even though rationale points agaisnt it. Even if he fought Wladimir Klitschko, I would be rooting for him. I have watched his fights for so long, so many times he just amazed me with how he fought. It was just sheer will and determination. I saw a Prime Tyson, and Tyson was an incredible fighter, but Tyson I saw as being driven by force and rage, whereas Holyfield to me embodied was this sort of pure will to win. I cant explain it, but Holyfield just struck something within me. I cannot ever give up on him
It's saying something when your nickname is "the Warrior." People throw that term around too loosely these days. I can't emphasize enough how important the first Qawi fight was for his career. Evander's 12th pro fight and he goes toe to toe with the Camden Buzzsaw for 15 grueling rounds and wins the title. Evander went from elementary school to college that day and he never looked back. There will never be another Evander Holyfield. He is the epitome of a fighter.

No disrespect to Poland but Golota didn't look that good against Big Daddy and neither did Bowe... After being kayoed by Lewis in one, given up against Tyson and stopped in 40 second by Brewsta, I don't believe Holy looks up for Golota and those Golota-Bowe fights... Holyfield should be confident against Ibragimov cause the russian has only 20 pro fights and despite his age and homecrowd support, he has only fought journeymen until this point, Iggy is a good southpaw fast boxer, puncher but I don't see him trade with Vander, and if he goes for it, Holy's type of performance against Vinnie should get his respect early...

The fight would go something like this....
1st round- Holyfield comes out with a headbutt... Golota counters with a low blow... In an amazing turn around, Holyfield lands a headbutt at the exact same time that Golota hits him with a low blow... the force of the low blow lifts Holyfield up and makes the headbutt even more effective... GOLOTA IS CUT!! 5 punch LOW BLOW COMBINATION BY GOLOTA!!! WTF? GOLOTA JUST CRAWLED OUT OF THE RING AND STORMED BACK TO THE DRESSING ROOM.
Holyfield win's by DQ. He goes back and sits on his stool, which his corner already had layed out ice packs on.

I am with Cruiser1 and MexicanJew, I feel Holyfield is such a great humble fighter from head to toe that there is genuine support for him by all the persons that wish him well... Not that he can achieve all those goals he set up for himself, but the problem with Boards and this is no exception is that Klitschko fans, Lewis fans and Tyson fans amongst others get around here to play the Devil's part - somehow resentful, jealous or just showing "false" elitism - try to diminish Evander and present guys like Iggy, Golota and others as far superior fighters... Not at all, neither Evander nor Sultan are showing disrespect for each other, they are just confident in their own abilities and one should be rewarded in five days time for that, there is absolutely nothing more to it, leave Wlad, Lennox and Mike or any other wanna-be GOAT out of this, please?!

Holyfield would beat Golota, Golota got rocked by McBride....who would win if McBride fought Maddalone? Who Knows? They're on about the same level, plus after a few headbutts Golota would self-destruct just like Tyson did.

If this fight ever takes place - I will bet at least $200 in favor of Holyfield and make money off of fans like you. This is not a physical or boxing match but a MENTAL match up. Not trying to start the "To beat Tyson all you have to do is stand up to him" shit but a durable, determined person like Holyfield will keep fighting Andrew and Andrew will lose his mind as he always has done in big fights or he'll be nervouse from the aura of Evander Holyfield, and find a way to lose the fight. He's done it again and again and again and again. How many times are you going to fall for it?
If it was just about physical talent or boxing ability - that'd be something different entirely. Obviously, I couldn't go in the ring and beat Golota, but Evander Holyfield could. Not because of his fighting ability but just his durability and mindset. The contrast of mindset between these two fighters is so drastic!

A match with a post-Iggy Holyfield would be a step down for Golota, because his win would be easily explained and excused away, citing Holy's last apathetic post-menopausal like performance. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
