View Full Version : More respect from historians and insiders? Terry Norris or Ray Leonard?

I know some of these jokers who don't know boxing really just by way of a knee-jerk reaction pick Ray Leonard as the more impressive of the two, because he was the bigger star and no other reason, of course. But I must ask ESB classic, the learned people of the game, who gets more respect from the insiders? The historians, the pros, the most intense and avid fans? Pugilistic genius and greatest career 154-pounder ever, Terrible Terry Norris? Or Ray Leonard, a nice enough star who went around collecting some abc titles in a lot of divisions and earning some debatable decisions over some of the better HOFers on his resume?

Well, Leonard will always get preferred treatment for sentimental reasons.
It was the same deal with these so called fans with their knee jerk reactions when their actual match went down, because of an unwillingness to analyze the styles. They never even paused to think of Ray's weaknesses and probably would not know it if they saw it.
I personally felt the speed of Norris would be too overwhelming for Ray despite his past accomplishments. He just hadnt met anyone with this much speed and talent-nowhere near enough to overcome a fistic genius like Norris

Addie doesnt know enough to comment and not mentally stable. He has an unhealthy obsession with some actress.

Ray will always be seen as greater and have more respect. Terry was good, but I am not sure he is in everyone's top 100 ATG list.

MAG/Pachillis & other biological waste will attempt to make it one in their self-inseminating catamite quest for credibility in all or anything that bears their loves name.

I respect them both.
I can think of a few insistences where Leonard might have lost some respect though.
I cant remember anything that Norris did to tranish the respect he deserves as a fighter.
Still, I'll call it equal.

SRL is just way too iconic to be over-shadowed by Terry Norris in any way or manner.......
SRL kept the game alive and well after Ali's departure; Norris never really made a huge impact despite his title win / wins and fights.....
Ray tops Terry hands down

One could think that in posting those videos, I have absolutely no intention of entertaining the idea that Norris should even be mentioned in the same breath as Leonard.
...You'd be right.
And at least I have an unhealthy obsession with an attractive FEMALE, as opposed to Duran and Norris. My sexual preference is most assured.

....I just ejaculated. Joppy was so good in his prime, and I favor him to knock Duran senseless at any time in their careers. He was poetry.

I can recall Joppy as the boxing version of Clapton. Lots of "Joppy is God" stuff everywhere.

He didn't. What you don't know, and information which you were never privy to, is that Duran both pre and post fight had Joshua Clottey style diarrhea. So,...wipe that egg off your face, now.

Could Norris beat Benitez? Go 15 with "Montreal" Duran. Defeat prime Hearns? Or even go to full Middleweight & defeat Hagler? Good questions all.
