Melbourne based Johannes Mwetupunga ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) hopped onto the scales tonight and weighed 74.3 kilos at his first attempt to make the Middleweight limit of 72.5 kg. He then reappeared just before the 2 hr time limit expired to record a staggering 2.15 kilogram loss, making the weight limit with just minutes to spare. Trainer Murray Thompson said" timed to perfection" - as he appluaded the feat. Time will only tell as his charger now has less than 24 hrs to recover and regain the weight.
Jason Hartmann was cool and collected as he easily made the weight and looked possibly in the best shape of his life at 72.2 kilograms. Asked about his chances - he was confident but gave respect to his opponent for having great boxing skills.
Cyclone Tongia looked to be peaking absolutely to perfection when he came just under the weight limit, his opponent Andrew Gosden was all business as he showed 69.45 kilos on the scales.
