Frankie will be taking on Gavin Tate according to the scene.
Here is Tate's record [Only registered and activated users can see links]

He has never been stopped but has never faced anyone near Frankie's class so no idea how durable he is but having 8 losses against the standard of opposition he has faced doesn't bode well. Poor opponent would much rather have seen someone like Mihaita Mutu or a top 10 domestic Light Welter.

I'd have expected better.

Granted, it's a step up to 8 rounds but he'd benefit more with 6 against a better opponent.

Someone who can has already hammered Steve Saville and shut out Peter McDonagh convincingly shouldn't be facing this calibre of opponent next..... unless he's coming off a KO loss - and even then, it's pushing it.

Why don't they just put him in with Jason Cook or somebody like that? Matching a world amateur champ against bums is completely futile.

Agreed. Completely pointless. What's he going to learn going in against a fighter of this standard?

Terrible opponent. I assume the guy has been brought in to get Frankie 8 rounds in preparation for an English title shot. I want to see Frankie fight for the English title in his next fight.

I like what Groves is doing. He has dilly dallied around for 8 fights now step it up. I used to condone 10 -15 build up fights but not any more and not for top amateurs. In this day and age with so much competition from the likes of the UFC guys need to step it up. It's better for them anyway.

Pathetic!!

Why not put him in with the likes of Nigel Wright, David Barnes and Barry Morrison? He is more than ready for the likes of them.

This is a disappointing fight, especially since he beat McDonagh last time.I think he could win a british title within a couple fights but he will not learn mutch from this.I hope he get some rounds in and i would like to see him in with someone like Steve Williams or Michael Grant next.

If they think this will get him rounds in they are probably mistaken also. He hasn't been KO'd but inspect his record, he's never fought anybody that can punch. Not that Gavin is a monstrous puncher but he hits harder than most of them and he has very good accuracy. Terrible, terrible fight.

He already got rounds in against that French dude anyway, the one where it was stopped in farcical circumstances and McDonagh.

I'd forgotten that :-(

£155 it cost me.

Completely ridiculous and the sort of pointless match that makes people think that it's about as competitive as WWF.

Is this gonna be another ****** card without competitive match ups? Gavin would benefit from fighting a Bami, Grant or Barnes to gauge his progression.

Why the fuck does ****** feed us names vs bums. I'd prefer half the names on the bill but in exciting match ups.

At this stage Gavin v Williams for the English Title over 10 rounds excites me. 2 in shape, undefeated and hungry guys fighting for a worthy title.

Disgusting match up. No doubt part of a PPV as well.
We all know Frankie is keen to fight better opponents so what the f*ck is this all about???
Be very interesting to read his views on fighting this jester.

I wouldn't mind if ****** kept him more busy but he's only fighting five times a year, so each fight should be a progressing curve, in which he steadily steps in class each time.

Some times these managers and promoters act like frightend little mice when matching there top prospects. :-(

Frankie was a world class amatur fighter and looks great so far as a pro so he has no need for such low level of opponent. No offence to the other kid because all boxers deserve respect but he is a way below the standard Frankie needs.

The most annoying thing is Frankie is going to look far better against somebody that comes to win. Somebody that has ambition to throw punches, thats when we'll see the full extent of Frankie's skills.

This guy won't come to win, I doubt the guys stupid. 8 defeats and he's against a world amateur champ..come on.

Good point. Hopefully he'll still get a impressive KO on his record but that's unfortunately about the best that will come of this one.

I mean why wait just under two months for an opponent of this quality? :patsch

Has Frank got on to Birmingham City about taking this one to St Andrews? It shouldnt be stuck on an undercard. I've no doubt they'd fill it if marketed properly.

But seriously, shite fight, isnt it all about learning at this stage? Whats he going to learn from putting away someone he's lightyears away from? Its like a team signing Messi, Rooney, Torres, Iniesta etc then telling them to learn to play as a team with a friendly against St Albans.

Yeah and Burton Albion put 11 men across the goalposts while they take shots.

This is an utter disgrace, Frankie is well above fighting this kind of fighter in his 7 fight. To put it into perspective, my cousin who is a part-time pro and a lightweight fought this guy in his 3rd fight and beat him. No disrespect to my cousin hes a good solid pro but he is not in Frankies class, Frank ****** needs to stop making these joke fights soon or risk losing thousands of paying punters

100% correct. Frankie hasn't got the strength or power to plough through bums. He lets his hands go. He wants sneaky body shots, counter hooks, catching guys off balance. If someone shuts up shop on him it becomes very difficult.

These guys spend 1 fight getting used to no headgear, 1 fight getting used to a big crowd, 1 fight getting the rounds in at level 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 1 fight against a southpaw etc

It's complete bullshit. IF these guys train right then they will be ready.

Fuckin bullshit opponent for Gavin. He should be fighting alot better opposition than this. The man had a shit load of amateur fights and was a world champion, he dosnt need to be fighting bums. Put him in there with someone who actually comes to win. Im sick of promoters putting former top amateurs in with complete no hopers to ''learn their trade''. Yes they need learn about the proffesional game but fighting bums isnt going to improve them.

The opponent for Frankie is even more annoying when he came out this week and said his amateur career was like having 15-20 professional fights.
