Froch is moving up to light heavy when he finishes the super six and by then Cleverly will have a world title or at least be knocking on the door to get one so do you see these two fighting in a welsh/english/british world title unification? If so Millenium Stadium here they come :D

Funny how Froch is willing to fight at 175 now.
When Calzaghe was a LH, there was no way Froch 'would ever fight above a 170 catchweight'.

Sounds very interesting now. But I'm sure a lot will change from now until then so I wouldn't be jumping with excitement just yet. Cleverly is a talented kid. The division is very weak so it is very possible he will have a belt in the next few years.

Doubt him and Cleverley will ever fight.
Froch-Pascal rematch would probably be his first fight, although I don't fancy Pascal to beat Dawson so I doubt he'll have a version of the LHW title by then.

Froch was a natural super middle at that time and had no real reason to venture right up to 175. a 170 catchweight was fair enough imo. As fighters get older there bodies grow and training to stay at there natural weight gets more and more draining and tiring.
Plus he's got another year and a bit before making a move to 175 as the tournament is still yet to be done.

If he wanted JC as badly as he said he did,he should've ventured up in weight, anything to force the fight. He needed Calzaghe more than Calzaghe needed him which meant, unfortunately for Froch,Calzaghe could call all the shots.

It takes two to tango imo. Froch is a super strong super middle. He would be losing part of what makes him dangerous by venturing up to 175. Yeah maybe he could done more but it's a fight he wanted to win and he felt that going above 170 was a step in wrong direction.
I leave my opinion there cos i could see this thread descending into another Calazghe thread.
No i don't see him fighting Clev in a unification fight in future..just can't see it happening really.

you know fine if calzaghe had offered froch a fight, he would have jumped at it, no matter what weight it was at.

I was under the impression that Froch wanted to fight Calzaghe for his Supermiddleweight title so therefore it is usually a good idea to fight at the supermiddleweight limit.

Bull......shit. Never heard anything like that and to be honest it doesnt make sense. At what stage in JCs career did he want to fight Froch?

i googled it, apparently it was in 2007 but frank wanted options on froch(usual) so no deal was made. it wasnt really big news, i dont remember hearing fuckall at the time and neither man mentions it when slagging each other. calzaghe would dominate froch anyway, froch is made for calzaghe

"Calzaghe didn't want to fight me," Froch repeated this week. But ****** claims he met Froch and his legal adviser at the Westbury Hotel in London in 2007 when the fighter was out of contract with Hennessy. "I offered him very good money to fight Calzaghe," ****** tells me. "To put it crudely, he crapped himself. He didn't want to know
****** may stretch the truth sometimes, but to name tho hotel as well?
Come on.
