View Full Version : Dirrel v Abraham
End of Rd 5 Dirrell still controlling fight, knock AA down in the last round.
End of Rd 6 and Dirrell is boxing very well, Abraham looks dangerous but is just not throwing anything and getting outworked badly.
Dirrell sneaks in strong left every now and then and it gets AA attention.
Dirrell winning easy but AA is still alive
End of Rd 7 Dirrell just sent AA to the ropes, imo it could have been a knock down.
This round AA is getting more agitated and starting to throw big bombs alot missing, fight is heating up Dirrell is still going well.
Round goes to AA as Dirrell did some silly things standing in the corner without throwing or trying to get out. Dirrell has to watch himself cause AA is still strong as a bull.

"Hello fight fans, this is Teke from ringside!"
Big thanks Teke, keep the RBR coming! :good
Dirrells round, he is boxing well but every now and then Im getting nervous for him. AA needs KO plain and simple
Fight over fight over.
Dirrell slipped and AA smashed the back of his head while he was on 1 knee
AA landed the disqualification punch straight on jaw but me thinks Dirrell was smart and worked it to his favour.
AA was coming on strong as Dirrell was weakening due to being knocked down a little bit earlier which was not called a KD.
2 KDs in the fight which were not called, 1 to both fighters.
Anyway Dirrell was the deserving winner imo.
AA is garbage

That was a dog punch. AA knew he was getting a beating so took the easy way out.
totally disappointing end to a potentially good finish. AA was seeking to end it. The KD before was genuine and AD was a little light headed from that. There was still every chance that AA could land the big punch.
As much as AA did hit AD while the knee was on the ground (IMO unintentional), there will always be a big question mark regarding AD's reaction. A KO shots to the jaw usually mean lights out immediately as the blood 2 the brain usually blocks momentarily. It took Direll about 3-4 seconds to react to the shot which is very questionable. IMO the shot was not super hard. He then carried on like a sook after that.

Come on we've all seen delayed reactions to punches. Jim Gray asking Dirrell about the fight "I was dropped man" was Dirrells response, he thought he lost and he was confused, that should end any speculation that Dirrell was somehow 'faking' it. Abraham is a classless piece of shit, even when he was shown the replay he couldn't admit that he punched him when he was on the ground, fuck Abraham, he got his ass beat. I hope Dirrell doesn't have any carry over effects from getting knocked out when he was on the ground.

You are pretty gulible mate, that was some of the best acting i've ever seen by a boxer. Anyway this is what i thought was happening:
1. Dirrell clearly outboxed AA
2. AA knock down was helped by him slipping as well, it didn'y hurt him
3. AA was starting to land and Dirrel was shaken up a little bit.
4. Dirrell was that far ahead on points all he had to do was survive.
5. AA. Landed DQ punch whilst Dirrel was on one knee resulting from a shot from AA and a slip in the process
6. Dirrell was not badly hurt by DQ punch and that delayed reaction was hilarious.
7. The post fight interview was also hilarious, gee those Americans are wankers.
Dirrel shld win an academy award

I would give anything to see how those last 2 rounds would have played out. Was an exciting fight. AA was being outboxed but I think he was closing in and could very well have got a legit KO. Instead he has to settle for the KO he got :P
Dirrel milked that shit like a tit

Between excuses for Danny Green and this-making excuses for a coward punching someone when they are on the ground possibly inflicting permanent neurological damage and taking away his opportunity for an undisputed, dominating win that was thoroughly deserved to an ultra competitive athlete. It was late, But i think Dirrell milked it. AA had started coming on in the preceding round. and the last 2 would have been interesting. But Arthur has only himself to blame, he shouldnt have hit him whilst being down.
watch the video. During his "convulsions" he is able to turn himself on his side without assistance. He shouldnt consciously be able to do such a thing while convulsing as any voluntary movement is disabled.

Yeah but not the point.......the punch was very late and he was sitting on the ground.....easy DQ IMO
I dont think anyone could blame us for thinking that he could have acted it up.

Agree with all kel. Total Act. I think we're disappointed we didn't get 2 see the last 2 rounds being played out bc the tide was turning. Credit to AA for acknowledging he was behind on points. Might have ended up Dirrell winning by points which is fair enough but he took the easy option in my opinion. Watching the stream live I thought he was faking, watching the replays confirms this.

That ref is a fucking disgrace and should never ref again. To blatantly not rule that punch from AA a knockdown in round 9 was fucking robbery. Even Stevie Wonder could have seen that was a clear as day KD.
I most people who are saying that Direll faked it arent necessarily saiying it because they are anti Direll or trying to justify AA's actions. People call what they see and it was obviously fake.
Yes the punch was late, and everyone saw it, including the ref, and rather than putting up this whole act he should have gotten up. If the ref was any good he woulda give Direll time to recover from the blow and deducted a point from AA. Then we would have been able to see the last 2 rounds!

Yeah that would have been best for boxing....but what does the ref's rule book say about a late punch while the other fighter is sitting on the ground?
I like both fighters mate so Iall 'm trying to understand is was the ref in the right calling the DQ.....or did he only call the DQ because AD couldnt continue?
To me it looked as if AA threw the punch below his waist...in fact it was more groin level....pretty sure this is not in the rule book

exactly. There will always be a question mark.
How intentional was the hit?
How hard was the hit really? was it just a brush?
Was Direll Faking it?
Did the ref call for DQ because of the act?
AA's punch was wrong no doubt. But I also believe AA when he says his only target in his eyes was Dirells head and didnt pay attention to feet or whether the knee had made contact with the ground.
But as you and I know, as of late we've had very few decisions that have been good for boxing. Im getting rather sick of it to be honest...

Why would Dirrell stop fighting while Abraham complains to the ref, the ref didn't step in so if Abraham wants to whinge and bitch about low blows that never happened to get a break in the action it's not Dirrells responsibility to stop what he is doing is it? Abraham turned his back in the middle of the fight pretending to get hit low then later in the fight punches someone clean in the jaw while they're on their knees and not looking and you call Dirrell a pussy? You need to understand something, if you've boxed you would understand that the shots you don't see are the ones that hurt you. I've sparred heavyweights and their punches you can manage because you can see them, I weigh 70kg and the worst I've been rocked is against a 60kg fighter because I got caught with a punch I just didn't see.
If you are on your knees, without your legs underneath you for support and you are looking at the ground then any sort of punch from a massive puncher like Abraham is gonna be a massive shot. You saw Dirrells neck snap around.
Come on are you really that dumb?

No, you're dumb because it's right in front of your eyes and you don't see it. What motive does Dirrell have to fake it on top of everything else? He had pitched a shutout and Abraham couldn't hurt him, Abraham was getting more aggressive yes but he wasn't any more effective. Dirrell was in front of his family in his hometown and you think he wanted to pretend he got knocked out so he didn't have to face one more round with a guy he was dominating? Think about it, really.

Yeah same head gear, same ring. The head gear is more to stop cuts than anything else, any serious gym you should wear head gear.
He was crying because he thought he got knocked out, with most knockouts you see them move before they are out, very few knockouts are just bang, straight unconscious. He wasn't out for long and it wasn't straight away but he was obviously out for a period of time and struggled to regain his senses. I've seen people act like little kids when they get knocked out and come to.
Think what you want, I think anyone who thinks Dirrell faked that and had reason to fake that are not that bright to be honest. I do apologise for the bluey remark though, that was uncalled for.

My logic is that because it was such a big shot, he almost fell the other way, and as his body was relaxing, and it took a sec or so to feel the pain from the impact, he covered his face and then naturally fell to the other side.
He had time to cover his face, because his body was upright for a moment.
That's how I see it anyway.
