8oz is light. I wouldn't go below 10oz, and I'm a girl. I use broken in bag gloves, and I really feel the impact at that weight.
I haven't tried the Adistar gloves, but other Adidas gloves are not heavily padded. They are probably among the most compact gloves I have come across. In addition, I find 12oz Adidas super-snug with wraps, and my hands must be significantly smaller than yours.
Adidas' low-end has a bad reputation. Apparently, they split after a couple months of use. Like Everlast, their high(est)-end is pretty good. Adistar gloves definitely fall in the low-end.
I say invest in a quality pair of bag gloves and forget those.

its all about money !!
its all about money !!
I feel your pain. No, I really, really do. My gloves cost me many a skipped lunch. But, in the long run, a pair of better gloves will both help your hands, technique and bank account. Poorly made gloves will have to be replaced pretty soon.
Although, I did make a mistake earlier. The Adistars are in fact towards the high end of Adidas gear. I confused them with Adidas Training, considerably inferior. So, that much is good news. :thumbsup For that price point though, you could easily find clearance Everlast Protex2 or Protex3 or higher end Lonsdale at a more suitable weight.

To be honest. Our gym has bought a lot of Adidas boxing equipment and I most be honest, their quality is not as good as a lot of the other more establish boxing equipment producers like, everlast, lonsdale or title. Not by a mile. In my opinion.
