Puerto Rican fight fans

Are always good for boxing conversation. They know their boxing in and out. I was talking to a guy from PR the other day and we started off talking about Chapo Rosario and Wilfred Benitez. Then the guy threw me for a loop. When Cotto/Mosley came up he said "yeah that's a big fight but let's not forget Calzaghe/Kessler."

We spent the next half hour disecting the fight. He knew his shit in and out. Some hardcore boxing fans from that island.

Ell you really know that puertoricans are pationates of that sports when a super fight is around, all the newspaper had it in the cover. Anbs puertorican newspapaer are also good for giving us exclusive fights and about fighters.

We love boxing probably more than general american loves their weekend football haha. I have boxing withdrawls if I don't see a fight at least every other week. And I can't finish my day without checking out at least a couple boxing websites!! Go boxing! It is a good feeling when a good fighter comes out of this tiny little island, there is a lot of pride when it comes to this. :bbb

Boxing's pretty huge down on the island.....Boxing, Baseball and Basketball are big down there. I played both sports in school (Baseball and Basketball) and dabbled in boxing training here and there. Every culture contains their extremist, those individuals who are blinded by their own ethnocentrism. I truly beleive most fight fans realize who is legit but they will root for a fighter from their culture, its only natural.

I am an American that despises football, baseball and ESPECIALLY college basketball. And the NBA and golf, and tennis, and all other sports but on fight night, I get so nervous I cannot sit still.

College basketball is great Jack!

Those boys play with passion, they go all out with nothing to prove....money is far cry from reality yet they play like they make A-Rod money.

I'm gonna take a vacation there in a few months. I can't even imagine a place where boxing is one of the main sports. Here in Miami it may as well be dead. You figure with the large Hispanic population it would be a hotbed for boxing but the truth is that the sport just isn't very big. At the Jai Lai fronton and the little Mahi temple they put on some decent cards but they never really have anyone big headlining. The Hard Rock over by me puts on some good shows here and there. Toney, Peter, McCline, Miranda, Urango, and O'Neil Bell have all fought there to name a few.

Every Puerto Rican person I meet knows their boxing and if they don't follow today's fighters they know about yesteryear's. I said person cuz I mean girls too.

I'd rather watch Hector Camacho Jr. run for 10 rounds on ESPN2 than the NCAA Final Four 7 days a week, twice on Sunday. I dont give a fuck about Villanova, or Jerry Tarkanian.

Jack that hate sounds personal brother....I admit Jerry T is not easy on the eyes but don't let him spoil your overall preception of the sport. Villanova best product looked like a dejected camel but he had a pretty decent NBA career (Kerry Kittles).
