I think he's neither. People realize him for what he is.

He was THE GREATEST the night he taught Trinidad everything there is to know about boxing.

No news that I know of, although he should come down to 154 I think, 170 was way too heavy for him personally

Unappreciated and Underrated.

Remember Shane Mosley? How good he was regarded as, even now he is still regarded as a top WW. Winky schooled him. Then beat him convincingly in the rematch. He dominated Tito. Many feel he beat a prime Vargas, including me. Don't forget he beat Taylor also. He made Quartey look C-Class. And he was beating Hopkins at 170lbs until Hopkins's rough-housing finally wore him down. He can still beat anyone from 160lbs down, and I feel should still be in the top 5 P4P.

I agree with most of that mate, although I think he should definitely come back down to 154

Hmmm yeah but Shane was way too small and Tito and Ike were past it and rusty as hell so that flatters to decieve somewhat. Winky is a solid , decent champ no more but certainly no less either. I rank him alongside the Glen Johnsons and Clinton Woods of this world

I think he's pegged about accurately these days, especially now that he's declined.

Doubt he can make 154 anymore, and Pavlik has better and more entertaining options. Personally, I'd like to see Taylor vs. Wright II and Pavlik vs. Abraham, but that isn't realistic.

In the meantime, Winky will wait another six months to fight, get a little older, drive a very hard bargain, then start bitching after he loses. I respect him, but he is not one of my favorites.

You think Pavlik would beat him? I could see him losing to Pavlik possibly. You're right, he'd be better off at 154lbs. He likes to fucking eat though, so I don't know if he really wants to go back down there.

He is leagues above Johnson and Woods as far as skill and accomplishments are concerned. I think this much is obvious.

If you say so amigo , but to my mind he is that level of fighter the only quality guys hes beaten are either smaller or rusty as hell.

And it wasnt Hopkins rough housing that beat him , Hopkins had him figured out and was beating him up.

If Winky was from Europe you guys would hate him ( especially with his uber defensive style )

A good champ nothing more

Anyhoo , thanks for the chatter , going home now so have a good one my ESB brothers !

Clearly Cool

Yes it is obvious.
Winky is a top class p4p boxer of which there are few, Johnson and Woods are just solid champions of which there are many.

But Johnson and Woods easily beat him at 175 at the same turn.

Yeah no doubt. Hes way above his ideal weight, and I seriously doubt his chances above 160lbs against good boxers.

Although I can respect his achievments, I don't particularly enjoy his style of boxing.

Pavlik would destroy him!
