Which heavyweights had the fastest hands?

Does Holyfield still possess the fastest hands in boxing today despite his advanced age?

Patterson had quicker hands than any heavyweight i've seen.

Tyson's peak hands were quicker than Holyfield's.

And in 'all of boxing', many fighters had quicker hands than Holyfield at the lower weights.

Fast but still quite ineffective I would say Herbie "The Dancing Destroyer" Hide, Larry "The Legend" Donald is very fast too for his size and in the Holmes/ali jab style and comes to my mind James "Buster" Douglas in his display against Tyson and at that weight... Mike was fast and effective out of well studied combinations, Holyfield also with blazing combinations but not quite as fast and as powerful.

No way.

Holyfield's handspeed was like a blur.

I remember his fight with Dwight and it's like his hands weren't even moving. All you could hear was the sound of his punches.

It sounded like furniture breaking, and eerily it's like Holyfield's hands were still, yet the noise....

In the division today, there is not a heavyweight with faster hands than Wlad. Period.

And today Holy is not fast at all, he's having his issue's with the Fres Oquendo's and Lou Savarese's of the world.

So don't expect him to defeat Sultan. I am a big Holyfield fan and it took objective realisation to pick against him, but he's not winning, he's losing by stoppage no less. May be painful to watch.

Do you all atleast rank Holyfield as being in the top three for fastest hands ever?

My rankings go like this.

1) PRIME Holyfield
I'm talking PRIME HOLYFIELD.
2)Patterson
3)Ali

And for current heavyweights

1)Holyfield
2)Wlad
3)Toney

Are you nuts?

Ali was faster, as was Patterson and Frazier could let rip a quicker hook (their mney punch).

Holy slowed down overall from 190 to heavy.

Wlads hands are faster than him now. When they fought Toney let rip with shots Holy was dreaming about.

tysons were fast and the way he put his combos together was an art form

Absolutely, Toney beat Holyfield to the punch and Holy never got first with his hands or antecipated any move really, b'sides Evander was never that fast but just accurate, strong and composed... I have a feeling capsfund is making fun and I find that choosing Evander as a target this week is ultimately unfair or else, is he exactly with his feet on earth at the moment, get the pic :rasta ? Enjoy the cool vibes, bro

What the fuck are you even talking about? Did you see one fight of him at CRUISERWEIGHT where he was impressive and assume he was the fastest HW of all time? Ridiculous. Ali, Patterson, Tyson all had way faster hands, Holy has never even really been known for his speed. That doesn't mean he did not have some of the fastest hands. It doesn't matter what people on this site know him as. I've seen plenty of fights of Patterson, Tyson, and Ali, and Holyfield can certainly be mentioned among them. He had elite handspeed during his period after entering the heavyweight ranks.

As it is to everyone who knows anything about boxing, which excludes crapfunds. Please do not confuse the bulkier Holyfield, particularily after he took a short absence after his heart condition was put into question.

Holyfield was a marvelous athlete, as a matter of fact he actually beat Carl Lewis in a charity event race, which I believe was 800 meters.

You don't know shit.

You obviously have never seen him fight.

If he wasn't fast, why did they call his left hook the "Evander Expander?"

It's apparent that you've never even heard that before because you probably just started watching boxing a couple of months ago.

Just so you can be informed though, Ali coined it because it was so fast that it expanded into a 3rd dimension.

As in it was faster the speed of light!

Evander's hands are so fast that you can barely even see them move. In fact, Sony's, Yushiro, who was the director of its LCD line said that the only way to actually see Evander Holyfield's hands would be with the use of his technology.

Like I said, you just started watching boxing though.

Every time Evander hit people it's like his hands weren't even moving. All you could hear was the sound of furniture breaking as his opponent took punishment.

Are you talking about the Cruiserweight Holyfield then? Such as the one capfunds was referring to in his fight with Qawi?

And is that really true? I'd have to assume Lewis was not trying or not on his A game. I am talking about the Holyfield soon after he entered the heavyweight division. Such as his fights against Dokes or Douglas. As a matter of fact, Douglas was a common opponent for both Tyson and Holyfield. Now of course he was a different fighter when he faced Tyson, but if you were to watch or rewatch his fights against both Tyson and Holyfield you can get a glimpse at how close they were in handspeed. I would give the edge though, to Tyson. And yes, what I said about Lewis was true. Of course, if they were to both train for a 100 meter race during their peaks Lewis would smoke him; but for the 800 meter race at that particular time(they must have been around the same age) Holyfield did defeat him.

Wrong.

I have no idea.

And yet everyone on thos forum aside from a few enemies will agree that my knowledge far surpasses your own.

Oh my God!!! What was I thinking? No way Ali and them punched faster than that! It's even more insane because they must've meant it literally!

Can we stop now?

:blood

You've never heard of the Evander Expander, yet you're the great boxing analyst even though you've never been in a fight?

And thanks for quoting my thread without saying anything.

I guess Ali and Yoshiro have no fuckin clue what they were talkin about. I guess they just pick a random guy and say his hands were as fast as lightening.

How do you explain Holyfield's 5 punch combination speed?

Maybe you oughta pick a new sport.

Holyfield absolutely had some of the fastest hands in HW history

Problem is that people are basing their impressions of Holyfield on his fights from 94 on
People are remembering the Michael Moorer fight in 94, the Lewis fights in 99, the Czyz fight, the Bean fight and thinking that was PRIME Holyfield

Which is crazy

Watch Holyfield's handspeed against Tillis and Thomas in 88
Or watch his fight against Michael Dokes in 89
Or even the first Bowe fight, Holyfield showed very fast hands
Watch Holy's 15 punch combination against Foreman in Rd 7 of their fight

Holyfield absolutely is right up there in terms of HW handspeed in his PRIME

Even when a past prime Holyfield fought a past prime Tyson in 96, Holyfield's handspeed matched or arguably even exceeded Tyson in that fight
He beat Tyson to the punch a lot that night

However, I wouldn't say that Holyfield has the fastest hands in HW history
Ali was faster
Tyson at his peak in 88 was a bit faster

But Holyfield absolutely has to be up there in terms of handspeed

Again people are focusing way too much on the Holyfield post prime

Or even worse using those fights against Ruiz, Byrd, or Donald
Where you had a badly faded Holyfield
And his shoulder was apparently a big problem for him, thus he had surgery on it in 2004 after the Donald fight, and then took a couple years off to recover

But it is not ridiculous to say the Holyfield has fast hands for a HW - he absolutely did

Not saying he's no 1, just that he deserves to be mentioned as being one of the best (top 15) in terms of handspeed

BITCH ASS

Nah, I haven't heard of the Evander Expander, my bad, sorry if that diminishes my ability to analyze a fight between two fighters, and you're a long ways off assuming I haven't been in a fight, including amateur boxing matches.

--

Not my point, the stuff you were quoting was a bunch of total BS and you made it seem like it was legit evidence, which was ridiculous.

How do you explain Patterson's 6 punch combination speed?

Make a thread, take a vote, see who votes for me, see who votes for you.

Patterson's 6 punch combination speed was fast, but not as fast as Holyfield's.

And I guess Yoshiro who's considered a super genius, by the classification that they have in Japan, (although I seriously doubt you know anything about the intelligence section of the employement classification system in Japan), yet I guess he's a fuckin idiot because some kid that has sex with dudes says so.

And go ahead and put a vote out there.

If you're gonna talk the talk, walk the walk.

But first you should pay attention to what you're watching because obviously you don't know shit if you don't think Holyfield is rated in at least the top three as far as fastest hands of all time are concerned.

Dudes hands are the fastest in the division right now, yet his handspeed is slow? :patsch

Go slap yourself.

Apparently you're not.

It took you forever to figure it out, if I'm correct about what the term "trolling" means.

If you're insanely stupid enough to believe all this that you have posted, I feel sorry for you, but let's just assume you're trolling and leave it at that. You really should, you've put your foot in your mouth too many times.

I can guarantee you less take you seriously, since most are under the impression that you're a whiny little bitch who's mad nobody nominated him into the committee, while for some reason, they nominated me. Odd being as noone takes me seriously. Do I need to own your stupid ass firther?

They nominated you because they needed a diverse group.

Even if that means selecting a gay homosexual such as yourself.

Not only were Ali, Patterson, and Tyson ahead of Holyfield as far as hand speed, but so were Dokes, Page, and Holmes in their heydays.
