I would say that the worst that i have seen in the last 8 -9 years is either Riddick Bowe, Terry Norris or Joseph Kiwanuka.. or even a cruiserweight that used to be quite handy called Franco Wanyama..

Alis the worst, Meldrick also, sad thing because it was really mainly caused by that one fight. Could have made more money

Leon Spinks by far is the worst.
Leon was never understandable.I remember his interview after the 1976 olympics.I was like, "what?" And Leon was mumbling away.
Its hard to say if he's gotten worse, who can tell?:smoke

The worst part is you know guys who have gone on too long these days are going to end up the same way. Gatti, Holyfield, Toney, just too much. I hope Roy Jones hangs it up ASAP as well.

I think sparring is a major contribution to brain damage in a fighter, just because the padding is there doesn't stop the fact that the brain still rattles around in the skull when you are hit, and because it doesn't hurt as much it doesnt become a big deal. and you spar way more than you fight. I think its somewhat overlooked. ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

how come its so common in black fighters? not to say its not in white fighters or latinos but when you see guys like Juan Laporte who was in ALOT of wars, he still talks very clear. the onyl latino i can think of who doesnt talk clear is Wilfredo Gomez, he sounds like Ali. but fighters like chuvalo, fullmer and others still talk clear. Even Basilio, thought not THAT understandable, talks clear, but that can be attributed to the fact that hes old.

i guess this is where this thread goes to hell.

benitez, camacho, cooney, quarry, laguna. any fighter who takes too many blows to the head is suceptible to this problem. race has nothing to do with it.

Unless if certain genetic components (i.e. the APOE epsilon 4 protein) is more prevalent in black fighters.

Have you ever heard of Bobby Chacon, he's got dementia and he's Mexican, Wilfred Benitez has the mind of a 10 year old and he's a Puerto Rican.
Jerry Quarry was White and couldn't even dress himself before he passed.
Don't even go there:deal race has nothing to do with it...

If you do countless rounds of sparring like a fighter like Toney, you are more succeptable to developing some form of brain dammage.:good

It is very odd though that Mexican fighters very rarely show dementia or any signs of damage. Look at JCC, he was in over a 100 fights and countless wars, and he still speaks completely clear. Lots of Mexican ATGs dont have any problems later on, and most of them fought more than 60 fights

tahts what im saying but these faggots take offense once race is mentioned.

fuck you and accept it, it seems alot more prevelant in black fighters than white or spanish fighters.

hes not horrible but you can hear it in his voice. which is wierd considering he rarely got hit.

and then someone mentioned Benitez as an example of a guy who is so fucked up righ tnow, the guy was fighting since he was 10. fighting wars, nonstop. his dad put him in with pro's at 13 and if you dont remember he was fighting for the title at 17. his head was getting fucked up for some time and it was only natural that would happen.

dont use benitez as an example. ill say it again, it seems more prevelant in black fighters.

JC. Chavez should be behind bars for what he did to Meldrick Taylor.
That was a beating in every aspect of the word.well people say that jc finished taylor...but taylor did become welterwieght champion..

it was the terry norris - meldrick taylor fight that really destoyed mels career...norris just kept throwing 6 hit combo's each time mel kept getting hit.

it was more the terry norris fight than the jc- mt fight

Meldrick is terrible. Couldn't understand a word he said when he was on FNF.

How long ago was he on FNF?

Having seen him speak a few years ago on legendary nights the tale of Chavez-Taylor, I could'nt imagine him trying to make himself understood.:?

The Chavez fight was only the beggining, then came brutal and prolonged beatdowns at the hands of Terry Norris and Ernesto Espana.

If anybody should be put in jail, its the Main Events promotional team who put Meldrick in with the much bigger offensive destroyer in Terry Norris.

The Duva's absolutely are responsible for how poorly they guided Meldrick after he got beatdown by JC Chavez!

I hope I'm wrong, but I think I can detect a slight slurring in the speech of Shane Mosley. I've read that his wife has been keen for him to retire for some time and hope that his fight with Cotto isn't one too many.
