I saw him sitting at the Pac/MAB fight on Saturday behind De La Hoya and Hopkins -- and beside Winky -- and wondered if something were brewing. Winky was there, too.

Manfredo would be a great choice for a comeback fight. Something of a name, and someone he should beat if he has anything left.

I read it at Boxing Scene web site. Also Lacy first comeback fight will be on Mayweather vs Hatton card:happy

I like it....good opponent to start out with and then gradually increasing the level of competition. I hope Lacy still has a lot left.

Manfredo would be perfect for a comeback. A high profile guy with clubfighter skills.Even a Lacy whose confidence was shattered by Calzaghe would hammer third rate Petey.But after that, Jeff will have quite a hill to climb.He was pathetic against Calzaghe, and he now has a long way to go back to the top.

I believe they will put him versus Librado Andrade, the other Super MW of GBP.

Are you for real ?? Lacy lost every single second of that fight hand down. Joe put a classic ass whuppin on the poor guy. I felt sorry for Lacy that night (yeah, I picked Lacy to win, I admit)

Are you serious? Lacy had Calzaghe wobbled several times in the first rounds, but unfortunately he ran out of steam.:p

Great news and great list. I would personally love too see Lacy against Andrade. That would be a classic. Lacy would have troubles with Andrades unhuman chin and stamina.

Also I'd like too see him against Pavlik - that would be a classic as well.

He should stay away from Kessler (and Calzaghe :p ).

Bute would be one hell of a fight too...

No, Calzaghe was just a lot better than he was.

Yes, Calzaghe was much better, but Lacy also fought a terrible fight. He wasn't even punching hard, looking overtrained (musclebound) and mentally frozen.

Sure, Joe gets all credit for that, but Jeff certainly at least could have thrown hard punches. He wasn't there at all mentally.

I would pick Lacy by KO over Pavlik.

I like Jeff Lacy. He's from my neck of the woods and I think he's a class act but I terribly overestimated him. To my defense I was rooting for a hometown fighter and sort of blinded to the realities. Even to the point of dismissing Winky Wright nearly demolishing him in a sparring session. I had first hand accounts and for some reason I thought it was just bad day or a fluke that a guy that much smaller than him took him school.

Then it happened again in England.

I'm sorry but he's nowhere near the league of Pavlik. He's tough as nails but very limited. Even in Reid fight there were signs that a decent boxer could have his way with him.

He wont box Lacy, he cannot do what Calzaghe did and he cannot move out of range, his only advantage is the jab but he still basically is in range and slugging it out.

The difference is that Lacy has a great chin and Pavlik has a very average one. Both men get hit, both stand and trade power shots, Pavliks chin cannot take Lacys power, Lacys chin can take enough of Pavliks shots to get off his own power punches and win by stoppage.

Here's a wild guess on Lacy's future.

One or two tune up fights.

Then an IBF Title eliminator against Vitali Tsypko. (Who's ranked #2 by the IBF)

The winner get's a shot at the IBF Champion. (Hopefully the man in my avatar. :D)

If you watch some other Pavlik fights you'll pick up on some things that Pavlik can do that Lacy cannot. Don't judge him on just the Miranda and Taylor fights. He's way more multifaceted than Lacy. He can fight going back and off his back foot. Lacy by comparison is ponderous.

Lacy can't throw a punch unless he's set up and flat footed. Plus when Lacy throws he throws so hard he leaves himself wide open. He doesn't have the variety of punches that Pavlik does. Lacy doesn't seem to understand the subtleties of boxing because he's not a boxer but purely a power puncher. He doesn't know a defensive punch even exists. He doesn't box throwing punches to set up punches. He just swings for the fences.

And as Joe Calzaghe so brilliantly showed us an accomplished boxer beats the snot out of a limited puncher come rain or shine.

But Pavlik would lamp him all night long. He isnt a skilled boxer like Taylor

There simply is not enough LSD in the world to justify that delusion.

Lacy took a one sided beating. His corner should have pulled him out. By not intervening to prevent a brave Lacy taking a pounding, they may well have shortened or damaged his boxing career. I hope that Lacy can make a comeback as he showed in that fight that he has the heart of a lion. I do not think a rematch would be in his interests now or in the future.
