I took up boxing about 4 months ago...judging off my size in this video, what weight class do I should be in?

Don't need to look at the video... You fight where you feel strongest - you know your body better than anyone on a forum. Just train hard, eat well, get plenty of r+r and leave the weight to the gods. Trying to fit into a weight class is a mugs game.

worry bout weight when your ready to fight and need to fit into a class. Until then eat right and train hard and your weight and body will take care of itself!

Get to a gym and learn how to box, hitting a bag like that is only going to make you worse. Balance and footwork should be the foundation, you have neither and you're trying to throw flashy combinations. For your question I'd say whatever you're closest to now, you appear to be quite lean. You look like a light welter to me, 147 pounds

My dude, you've shown some improvement since your last vid but you still need to learn to pivot when throwing the cross and also the left hook. You'll then be able to generate more power in your punches. Keep it up though.

You'd better get those hips into your punches or someone's gonna just walk right through you. Your hands drop on the hooks too. You look built though, it depends how much you weigh and how tall you are.

I agree with terror. Your hand speed is frightening. But your punches dont look like they hurt. I'd catch you with one good right and you wouldn't be so eager to come in with those double jabs. 175 or below my friend.

u didnt ask for critique but being as everyone else is lol stop bouncing when your hitting the bag your in range of your opponent if you like and your bouncing all over the place your going to be off balance if you get hit whilst your bouncing your gunna go down even if its not that hard

are you amateur or pro?
remain in the weightclass you fell most comfortable in. period.
i ve seen too many boxers tryin to "cook down" their natural weight and as a result they completely dehydrated and collapsed.
eat right, drink right and train right
if you can't tell he's an amateur, you really aren't a boxing expert, are you?

Super-bantamweight. Start starving ;)
But in all seriousness, you look to have really low body fat. If you're more than 5 pounds above the next lower class, stay in the one you're at.

Also, stop jabbing with your power hand! :nono Someone's going to decapitate you with a left hook someday and you'll be a sad, sad man :yep

Step on a scale.
Read your weight.
Start at that weight class.

LMAO. If you can't tell that he's neither Amateur or pro at this stage I really have to question your knowledge of boxing.
In regard to the thread topic it's kind of an odd question. You train, you lose any excess fat and that's your weight class. So it depends on how much you weigh and if you've got much fat you could lose. You look pretty lean to me. You can't tell a persons weight from a video cos you've got nothing to reference you to. You could be 4 foot tall for all I know.

hmmm. you look around 5'8- 5'10. but also with a frame thats pretty filled out too- so im guesing your in youre mid twenties. with that in mind- i d say probably junior welterweight would be a good goal. i mean it looks like you re pretty lean- and couldve started even lighter- like lightweight- but probably not at this age. with that being said- if you fill out even more- and keep your speed- you could go junior middleweight i think. midleweight might be a bit big.
so anywhere between 140-154.

guys- obviously he s not a pro- but dont you guys like to have a weight goal in your mind, a weight class in mind, when youre training- as a goal and a yardstick- to compare your frame and body and weight? i know i do. im aroun 146- but i try and get myself down to 140- even though i dont compete- and compare myself to boxers at 140- to see how my progress is going- and how far i have to go. and for inspiration and motivation. human beings are most motivated by comptetiion and comparison.
some of you guys- take the constructive out of constructive criticism. he s not even asking for crtique- hes just asking for a fuckin number- and suddenly 20 freddie roaches come out of the trenches with boxing advice on how to hold his hands.

^ This is a training forum right? Where we critique others in the hopes that they can improve on any flaws in their technique (especially and particularly if they include a video).
You do make a good point though. I walk around at 152-155 and even though I dont compete, in my mind I'm training to be the welterweight champ of the world.

It depends, I can't really tell how tall you are. It looks like you're somewhere around 5'7-5'10. You also look like you're in your late 20's to early 30's and already in good shape. I would say welterweight, but since it's kind of hard to tell how big you are from a video I'll say it's somewhere around 140-154. Pretty sure you could have been a lightweight if you were younger and boxing from an early age.

Wow, you are such a fag. Oh, and BTW, "light welter" would be 140, not 147 :)
