Silva is clearly P4P #1 and he's bored. Stop putting guys in front of him that he will clearly destroy. I don't see any challenges out there for him as I'm still learning UFC. What about the guy that defeat Rashad Evan? They are friends and said they would never fight. Dana should make them fight.

If he's bored, then KO him and go party and have fun or something. Don't enrage the fans AGAIN and get everyone pissed at you AGAIN - they are, afterall, the people that you make money from..

That's funny you mention that he almost got a yellow card tonight even though there isn't one. I guess he was agraid of Damiens lethal standup and didn't want to engage.

Silva is a piece of shit. Taunting the man like there's no tomorrow but doing nothing to finish him off and actually had the audacity to run from him the last couple rounds, the exact same thing he was throwing a tantrum from with Damien. Silva believes he's god, I've never seen an athlete act like such an ass during a fight, game, whatever. Lost all respect for him
GSP > Silva
:good i hope this fight happens, gsp will take him down and finish him, silva wont have any time to act like an ass clown:twisted:

Exactly, he taunted the shit out of him but yet was to afraid to throw a punch, WTF was that he was scared to engange with Maia and wouldn;t do shit.

lol no way would he leave his face wide open like that cuz vitor got the speed and power to hurt him. I wanna see silva fight a striker for the rest of his ufc career cuz he simply doesn't want nothing to do with BJJ black belt. Vitor is pretty good with his BJJ but is also a dangerous striker. I want to see this fight next.
This is why I haven't liked Silva since he came to the UFC, I've been saying he is NOT a warrior and he fights NOT to lose instead of wanting to win. I hate him. I wish to god they instituted yellow cards because with no repercutions there is no reason he'll actually engage. Fuck Silva I say everyone protest any card that he is on from now on. He not only disrespects the fights worse he disrespects the people who pay him ie. The UFC and the fans.

yea all that bowing before and after the fight as if he is humble then acting like a fucking clown in the fight?:huh
Some flamboyancy and clowning is OK if you are gifted as Silva is but you better be ready to destroy the guy quick once you do it.

"Being bored" is just an excuse. I think that Anderson was getting tired and frustrated after trying his hardest for 2 rounds to stop Maia... and decided to start clowning to cover it up, and act like he wasn't trying to so hard.

That's a half truth. You can't tell me that the Anderson Silva who fought Franklin or Leben didn't go into those fights to win. He went after Franklin, because he wanted to establish himself as a truly great fighter and champion; and he did just that. Now, what's happened between then and now, we can speculate about it, but to say that Silva never had the spirit or showed it, is ludicrous. The reason why so many people touted him as the best p4p until his recent run of crap fights is because of how nasty he was in there at first.
Just a case of "what have you done for me lately" here.

I don't think Floyd is THAT bad, though. Yeah, he's too cautious, but he will step it up, when he knows he has his opponent in a tenuous position. What Silva did was simply stop fighting, period. To me, it's even worse than what Kalib Starnes did, simply because Starnes wanted OUT of that fight with Quarry. He had no chance, knew it and quit because he was scared; which happens sometimes. He didn't belong and knew it. In that sense, I detest what he did, but I can understand it.
Can't understand Silva's actions, though.

What? Floyds just as bad. He gets paid millions and he potshotted Baldomir, he freakin went the distance with an outmatched JMM. At least you can make a case about Silva not happy with his salary to be taking a risk in the cage. They are the same I really can't tell the difference.

I guess what I'm saying is that Silva raises expectations and then dashes them; whereas Floyd is Floyd. You know he's not going to act like he's the second coming of Gatti, only to dissapoint when fight time actually comes, so you just get generally frustrated with his style - as opposed to being "betrayed" (for lack of a better word) like with Silva. That's what I'm alluding to in comparison to PBF and Silva.

Fair enough, after that Griffin destruction, you would have expected alot better from Silva. The thing with Silva is he seems to be more arrogant than Floyd. In the ring like you said, Floyd is Floyd but I never saw him taunt and disrespect an opponent in the ring.

I'm only guessing, but I think with Silva, it comes down to respect - of the opponent, of the moment, etc., etc.. For instance, watch not only how he fought both times against Franklin, but his behavior after both fights. He clearly knew he had Rich's number, but the amount of respect he showed to Ace and for the moment (winning the title, fighting the champ) was exemplary. Against Forrest, I think he respected that while Griffin wasn't his fighting equal (talent wise), he respected that he was in there with a guy who wasn't afraid to fight him and was a naturally bigger man, so he didn't have time to play around and risk giving Griffin any room to find his confidence.
Then, against Maia, for whatever personal reasons, he had no respect for the man or the fighter, so he had none for the fact that it was a title fight and a headline fight. Thus, we get the asshat Silva, instead of the one that faced Franklin.
For whatever reason, from the moment he won the title to now, he's lost respect for what he's supposed to represent for the sport and the UFC and has resorted to the antics of late.

I'm getting tired about hearing how poor Anderson Silva couldn't get motivated in this fight because of the poor quality of his opponent, Maia. And this is the evil Dana White's fault for making this matchup.
Plain and simple, Silva, you should have knocked him out right away and it would be another amazing KO in your highlight reel. If you wanted to send a message to Dana that he shouldn't put you in the ring against clearly unworthy opponents, that would have been the best way to send it.
Look, it happens all the time that fighters end up in the cage/ring with guys who don't deserve to be there. But to actually use that as an excuse for your piss poor performance, and utterly embarrassing antics is pathetic.

After watching Silva's performance on Saturday again I have to admit it was as awful as the first time round. For me the worst part with the first two rounds, having to watch Silvas embarrassing clowning antics.
A lot of people got angry accusing him halfway into the fight of just shutting down and running for the remainder of the fight. to me this wasn't so bad as there were flashes of speed and skill. And Silva did totally neutralise his opponent. Maia's nose was smashed up quite badly and he certainly didn't do that himself.
So there are two charges against him:
one that he was clowning about too much.
And the second, he seemed to be running from Maia and unwilling to fight. by fighting in a very negative way always backing off and scampering out of range. (but still totally winning the fight on the scorecard)
Personally I only object to his clowning about.
Crying to mummy that one's opponent does not stand still so you can hit them is pretty lame. second point, it's always been the case, but if you are the challenger you have to take it to the champ. third point, if silva had just been running and unwilling to fight, how come he clearly won the decision on the scorecard?
The reference to Floyd Mayweather, is interesting. Because I think boxing has been trying to find the solution of getting rid of the boring negative style of fighting since the sport first began . And the bottom line is that it's no answer to it. I think the best way forward is to just embrace it as part of the sport.
Why not just enjoy this skill of the negative hit and run fighters.
