Peter/Golota would be a very interesting fight, while both fighters are known for there rough house tactics and both exciting fighters. After last saturday Peters stock declined while Golotas stock rose, if they were to fight can Golota get past the first couple rounds or would Peter finally prove he can KO a top 20 oppenent. I just see Golota going crazy if he gets hit in the back of the head too much, that would be kinda of enertaining to see. So would Peter finally prove himself by laying out Golota or would Golota finally preval after 10 + years of failure?

Because he won a fight without fouling out and his name generates a lot of puzzlement, controversy, and buzz. He's certainly not boring. Ruiz is supposed to be fighting in a week or two. Who cares?
Is he a world class fighter? Not in my opinion. But since it is about (to quote a certain S. Liston) the dough-re-mi, it wouldn't surprise me that Golota will be "in the picture." At least until his usefulness expires.

honey, you forgot to say why he is back in the picture as you put it:nono Because he is very popular as you can on this site, Its not like the heavywieght division is overly talented anyway so he fits right in to the landscape.

see, thats were i disagree.
its one thing if the devision is not "overly talented"!!
but for golota to fit in, it would have to be as dire as fungus feeding on dogshit.........and it aint that bad!!!
it never will be THAT BAD:lol:

Once Golota gets out of the first round he is STILL very dangerous, I would pick Tyson, Lewis and Brewster to knock him out still- (obviously pre-retirement versions of these fighters) but Peter? Especially after nearly being knocked out by McCline, I dont think his agression is EFFECTIVE enough to knock out Golota... I think he would win an ugly decision because he has better reflexes and got off first, but if he tried his ameteurish moves that got him caught against McCline, he will get caught against Golota, and Golota doesn't gas in the 3rd round.... supposedly he doesn't even gas after 12 rounds.

Golota has just as much chance to win as any other contender out there, if guys like Briggs and Ruiz can get a title in this era anyone can.

Peter KO 1, probably within the first minute. Golota has no chin anymore.

How exactly did his stock rise? It took him six rounds to stop a guy that the great Mike Mollo destroyed in two, not to mention that TOS beat him in five rounds with MUCH less trouble than Golata had. Peter isn't anywhere near as slow as Mcbride is and if he hit Golata half as much as Mcbride did Golata would be out. There are probably some lousy contenders that Golata can beat, but Peter sure as hell isn't one of them.

Golota is popular in a very weak division thats struggling for a name that is exciting, Tyson during the end of his career in 04 had a perfect chance to fight for a title if he would of beat Danny Williams in july of 04. Tyson who before that beat a decent fighter himself against Black Rhino in feb of 03, its all about excitement and Golota brings that like Tyson.

Are you a baseball fan in the wrong forum? Watch the fight again A-Rod and watch as Golota gets blasted by heavy shots in the first round and keeps going. Watch the Tyson fight when he gets up after being blasted. Same with the Bowe fights. Brewster? Up after getting dropped. What is your definition of a chin besides a lame attempt to bond with other men by using buzz words to describe a male on male contact sport?
I said ANYMORE. Getting wobbled by McBride and getting starched by Brewster in 1 are evidence enough to me that he could not handle Peter's punching power. How the hell are Tyson and Bowe fights relevant to how Golota fights now?

Skill set = Golota ( combination punches, more versatility, more accuracy)
Speed = Golota (both hand and foot)
Power = Peter (although it wasn't enough to put a dent in a fragile McLine)
Chin = Peter ( less then previously thought)
Endurance = Golota (always in supreme physical shape and not gassing out in latter rounds)
Mental Focus = Peter (Golota can be extremely tentative and unfocused in the early rounds + can do psychotic things to bail out of trouble, although lately these antics have ceased).
That at almost 40 years of age, Golota has an advantage over Peter, in most critical boxing attributes, suggests that this would be a tough fight. Barring a first round Peter KO, I pick Golota by UD, because he is vastly superior as a boxer, even at his advanced age. In terms of boxing ability and skill, Peter is akin to a primitive caveman, ackwardly swinging a thick wooden club, whereas Golota is more like a knight in shining armour with razor sharp swords, but riding on a drunk stallion.

Peter beats him in the mental department, I at least think thats at least 50% of your fight game right there.

Becuase he knock people out :tong (even if this is McBride or Betts)
instead struggling with fat Toney for 24 rounds :tired
or being knocked down 3 times by other journeyman McCline :dead .

Even though he has very poor loses on his record against questionable opponents, early in his career, McCline is truly not a journeyman fighter and has really shown improvements over the last 2 years. Keep in mind, he started to box around 20 years of age, so this kind of trial and error development early on, makes sense. Judging from his last three fights, he can certainly be competative against any top ten HW. Not unlike Golota, McCline also seems to have mild anxiety problems, which have also contributed to his past failures. He trully let Peter off the hook in the last fight and that was nothing but a mental lapse.

good fight at this point. anyone who actually watched the mcbride fight realizes golota looked pretty good. he'd outbox peter for sure and if toney can survive peter's power, golota's got a good chance.
