I emailed Main Event after information on whether they would show Calzaghe vs Kessler & Cotto vs Mosley.
This was there response.
Cotto/Mosley – we are still in negotiations however for this fight however all looks good that we’ll be showing it.
Calzaghe/Kessler – no, we couldn’t get the rights, Setanta hold them for Australia.
So there u have it Main Event should be showing Cotto vs Mosley.:happy:happy
Thank fuck for that. The tears, tantrums and dummy spitting on my behalf would not have been a pretty sight otherwise.

Has a damn awesome undercard as well with Antonio Margarito back in action, Joel Casamayor defending his WBC Interim Title, highly regarded Top Rank prospect Victor Ortiz & Aussie Billy Dib is also back!!!

I know the undercard is ridiculously good. Its definitely the best card of 2007. Not to mention a possible FOTY candidate for the Main Event. I can't wait. Kessler v Cal is a shame, but you can't get them all.

Tell ya I am pissed about the kessler fight and NO WAY IN HELL Will i pay more to get a shitty extra channel to watch that, Fuck them and the horse they rode in on my friends if this is how Australian fans get treated and now it is getting worse with this kinda shit taking place.
WHo really will book a full channel of pure soccer garbage just to watch The kessler fight with Tv Ads thrown into it? I fucking wont!

Im a big soccer fan & i gotta agree.
I get all the sports channels & then they decide to add another one & expect people to pay $15 a month for 1 channel.
We get treated very ordinary indeed.:deal
We need a list of venues that will be showing Kess v Clazaghe imo.
Surely Casino will have it won't they??:huh

We should be right for other venues showing the fight, my first port of call would be the many Irish clubs and bars around the country. I'm sure some places have some sort of connection allready, as I've seen the All Ireland Hurling live a few years back in WA.

Right I'm going to have to dumb this down a bit it seems. Calzaghe v Kessler IS ON FOXTEL. Instead of it being on Mainevent, where you'll most likely pay $50 for it, it's on the new channel called Setanta. This channel costs $15 a month to get. There is NO CANCELLATION FEE. The minimum you have to have it for is one month.
JOE CALZAGHE vs MIKKEL KESSLER is the cheapest Pay per view in Australian cable tv history. THIS IS GOOD NEWS!

Bullshit mate it is the biggest backstab in Australian boxing history! Once again the find a way to screw us around. Why not just mainevent? Or sky ringside? I rather pay good money knowing we would get unbias people talking about the fight or no crappy TV ads.
This is just dog shit mate just another way to take good fights away from pubs who dont have this or people at home who dont have it and MUST order it well to hell with them mate because this happens now you can bet it will happen again and again AND next time the CANCELLATION FEE will be there for all to see MARK MY WORDS MY FRIENDS this is just a scam to get people sucked into doing this.

Right..............................
You're just one of those poor people who never pays for a fight and watches strictly at the pub... now you're worried it won't be shown at your local. I pay 40 or 50 for every pay per view on main event with the shitty b grade american commentators who are usually very biased one way or the other, paying 15 for this superfight sounds like a superb deal to me, British commentators are usually more realistic with what they're seeing from my experience and i don't know about ads during the fight, but still i'll take that if i'm only paying $15 TO WATCH CALZAGHE VS KESSLER

lol clearly you know nothing about me I have booked EVERY and let me say that again EVERY fight that has been shown on Mainevent for the last 4 years straight and i mean EVERY fight and before that i booked just the ones I wanted to see.
Plus where you say "British commentators are usually more realistic" Mate that is like saying Barry Michael isn't a Mundine Supporter lol they are shocking BUT yes a lot of US commentators are bias but nothing like the English. They and the Australians are very bias towards their own fighters to a level where it is painfull to watch.
Why wont i book this channel because It is a scam simple as that They will do this and next time you want to book it I'll bet ya you get stuck with some crappy package for 3 months or something. Wait and see mate this is how they will cash in on fights that Mainevent wont get to see.
(Forgot i did miss a few fights but they were Mundine fights that I could not believe were happening with a shocking undercard, Besides that i booked the rest)

Still 3 months = $45 if they do do something like that in the future which i bet they won't that's still comparable to the price you pay for a fight on main event, really mate you have nothing to complain about, fact is you're getting this fight for $15

Do you know how much cheaper this will actually be for pubs? If they've got Setanta, which a heap do, they've got the fight for nothing extra.

Well I'd argue that these two, Calzaghe certainly, are heading for the hall of fame. Also, at that time Jones hadn't even fought at 168lbs, Toney had won an IBF belt and made a couple of defences.
Calzaghe has been champion for nearly a decade and Kessler for 3 or whatever it is. He also holds two belts.
I certainly agree with you the RJJ v Toney was numero uno. Truth be told I forgot about it at 2am! But I think a case can be made for this fight. 60,000 fans in sold out Cardiff agree as well!

hahaha its all good mate just having a dig. In terms of history within the division, these guys are without a doubt much more experienced within the SMW division, and it is really a true SMW mega fight. I will enjoy this, although I get the feeling it will be a bit of a technical fight at times. Mosley v Cotto will be more exciting for the casual fan IMO.

I would be dead set gob smacked if it ends up being similar in any way to Jones v Toney. If someone wins here by a blowout, these boards will go crazy, especially if Calzaghe schools Kess, like he did to Lacy. Most likely a close decision to JC. Which way do you have it picked?

I have my money on Kessler to win a fairly close UD. I think his straight sledge hammer punches will prove too much for the Welshman :D

My beef is with Mainevent. They charge you $50 (it was $40 until Mundine v Green) to show fights that aren't even pay-per-view status in America! They also used to have an "early bird booking fee" which they got rid of.

Yeah you might be but many true boxing fans will miss out because
1) they have Cable and cant order it
2) No pubs around the area are showing it
Which means many fans are being screwed over because either Main Event was offered the fight and didn't want to show it (ASSHOLES) or they were never offered the fight WHICH makes these other guys showing it Assholes. Either way the world is being overan by ASSHOLES

Thats the problem mate I like to book a fight and sit back at home with a few mates and watch it rather then around a group of druken fools screaming out
"AHHH CHANGE THE CHANNEL PUT THE FOOTY ON" or "BOXING IS BORING"
Plus the sound is never turned up enough and half of the time you go to the place where they are meant to be showing it and they wont screen it even though by law of booking the fight they must. Main even better do something so we all get to see this fight.
