Kinda hard to argue, isn't it?
Even the guy who called himself "The Greatest" had some doubts when it came to this guy

Quite easy to argue, clearly not the top man there.

God I hate those Myspace vids, the dumb bastards that know nothing about boxing always commenting on them with "He was undefeated, Ali was defeated, Rocky was obviously the best, if you deny it you're a stupid faggot lol". They need to get a thorough beating.
Some people even seem to think that the fake Ali-Marciano "superfight" was real. Sweet Jesus...

Nice to know you've wasted enough time to watch all those myspace vids on Marciano

I've had to tell so many off for that.
I wouldn't have thought it would be that big of a problem. Honestly, if someone knows enough about Marciano to be a fan you'd think they'd know enough about boxing in general to know it wasn't a real fight. All it takes is a quick glance at either Marciano or Ali's records.

Well Ali did have 2nd thoughs on Marciano after there 1969 match. I belive in the ABC world of Sports were Ali was interview in the 70's. They went though all the champions of the heavyweights, and he would explain why Louis or Dempsey or Corbett would fail. but when they got to Marciano. Ali kinda of back down with his bold perdiction. and said Marciano "might" beat him.

It's websites like these that make me dislike Marciano. I don't want to dislike him, but the way his followers go on about "He was undefeated. Therfore he's the best of all-time. No one else was, so that proves it. You can't argue with facts and statistics.":-(

IMO better than the Ali- propaganda, and the Marciano- nuthuggers arenīt so many and fanatic like the Ali- ones...

You've got to be kidding. I know you love and all, but you can't deny the unwarranted praise he gets by many people. The only thing they come up with is that he was undefeated. There's a much stronger case for Ali than for Marciano, that's for sure.

I know only a few Marciano- nuthuggers who use the stupid term "Because heīs undefeated, heīs automatically the greatest ever!", Ali on the other side has so many fanatics, who hyps every opponent he fought and all that...
Thatīs an easy case, Aliīs fanboys are way worse...

A few? Just go to any Marciano vid and you'll see hundreds of posts like that. Hundreds! Sometimes I wonder if they're talking about the same person, I read the posts and then I watch the vid, and they simply don't matchup.

Donīt listen to them, most are just kiddies. As a Marciano-fan, even for me itīs just stupid and nerved, when someone says Marciano was the greatest, because he retired without a L. Than Nielsen was also close to a ATG... but with Ali, I even see/read/hear grown up men who "slobber" when they talk about Aliīs greatness, you know what I mean? Nothing personal to Ali, itīs not his fault, I like Ali very much, itīs just some of his fans who I dislike...

Marciano himself said to MA 'lets hope they give the right decision', meaning Ali should have got the decision.
Anyone who picked anything from the film about how a real fight would go is pretty deluded. There was 12 scrited endings to the film if I remember rightly - 6 with each man winning
The classic Marciano fan line 'Ali got floored by a Marciano bodyshot' - and Ali would have been floored by my bodyshot too if he wasn't protecting himself and fooling around but it doesnt mean I'd beat him
The second classic Marciano fan line 'a 1960s computer had Marciano winning so that proves he would have won'

You can also turn around the things here, some say Marciano wouldnīt have a chance against Ali, but thatīs bs, itīs normal that you can logically counter with a sentence like "If a 45 years 250 lbs Marciano KD a prime Ali with a bodyshot, a prime Marciano against a prime Ali would be a close fight..."

Greatness is not about theoretical matchups based on pure speculation. It's about what a fighter accomplishes throughout his career and who he "rubs up against". Although Marciano's undefeated record is impressive, his competition level is weak compared to others.
Joe Louis is the greatest: 25 consecutive title defenses with 20 knockouts against quality opponents. End of story.
(The Marciano-Louis fight is irrelevant; that's like saying Holmes is the greatest because he beat a washed up Ali.)

But that's not what they're saying. They're not saying it would be a clost fight. They're saying Rocky would tear his head off in one round!

That was not off of the outcome of the computer fight, but mostly the sparing of 70 rounds with Marciano that rise Ali's option on the Rock.
Thats why Ali said Maybe. He didnt know if he could beat the rock or vice vesa.

You know, for me, a matchup between Marciano and Ali, 2 of the greatest fighters ever, would be pretty close, everybody who says something like that it would be one-sided or so is biased, stupid or simply both.

Yeah Tommy Farr or Kid McCoy were as great as Ezzard Charles or Archie Moore. Louis may have rein longer, BUt I give the edge with Quality to Marciano.

First off, learn how to fucking type. Second, if you disagree, put forth some facts to back up your kindergarten statement.... Then we'll have something constructive to talk about motherfucker.

Kid McCoy was a little old to have any chance with Louis. Joe should have fought more LIVE opponents!

I don't like Ali - I didn't care much for the way he disrespected his opponents. That said, of course Rocky wouldn't have an easy time beating him, nobody in their right mind honestly thinks that. Can Rocky beat Ali, yep, but maybe not every time.

Ali was greater than Marciano. Even though Rocky retired undefeated, he only defended his title 6-7 times. Ali fought better opposition as well, and his longevity at the top of the game was much longer.
Marciano was a truely great fighter, no question. He got knocked down, then came back to win. He was also behind on points against Walcott before turning the tables to get the knockout during the 13th round.
The Ring done a very good tribute on Marciano back in 2005 with a double issue. The back of the magazine has many extracts from articles back in the 1950's.
