I thought Mo won all three so far. Gegard has been totally ineffective.
Mo's round, has he still got a bit of power left or is Mousasi playin possum?

if Mousasi don't do something now Mo will win.

Mo 3 to 1. I'd be surprised if Mo's able to walk out of the arena.
Mo can only lay on Mousasi, how boring. Mo needs to do more to take the title, laying on someone shouldn't be enough.

Geeze! Brutal fight....
Wrestler grinding out a decision....standard
Mousasi is just as much to blame.... both looked bad relative to their hype.
Mo didn't do anything but take Gegard down. Strike should count more then takedowns, MMA in amercia is tailor scored for wrestlers.

Well, generall I'd agree, but a takedown is a strong form of control, so in that sense, he won because he controlled the fight and he also won because Mousasi didn't do jack squat either.
WOW at those stats 74% strikes for Musasi and he still lost

Very disappointed in Mousasi. If I didn't know any better I'd think he didn't know he was fighting a wrestler coming into the bout. Mo needs some grooming and cardio but he's got heart and charisma.

So is getting taken down time after time and being on your back more deserving of a win?

Aoki is speaking from the heart about this. he wants to punish Melendez if he can. He wants to uphold the honor of his fellow Japanese martial artists. He is deadly serious. This is going to be a great fight.

Shields vs. Henderson is gonna be pressure to carry this card. It's been really weak so far.
The only fight I've really liked is the Melendez vs. Aoki fight and if I didn't love grappling, I'd be pissed/bored...
Not a great advert for gorund fighter is it. Bring back soccer kicks
double leg lay down again.Boring fight Mo sucks.
If Mo sucks, Mousasi is absolute garbage. Even though Mo was gassed, he landed meaningful punches on the ground and passed Mousasi's guard a few times. The stand up was pretty even. Both of them looked like shit, but I don't how you can make a case for Mousasi winning.

Yes, but he's not putting much effort to finish the fight. He's not commiting to striking, not commiting hard to submissions. He really should have pressed with the striking from full mount to push the issue, get Dan to show his back or give up an arm.

I didnt think the fights where to bad TBH. Not terribly entertaining but decent fights. The brawl just makes me sick though. This is supposed to be a place where people go fight for a career and make something of themselves not make the arena in Nashville look like the ghetto with some kind of gangfights. Now im sure every major media will be showing this in the next few days and this will be a terrible blow to MMA.

^^^ Reason why I dislike Shields . . . TREMENDOUSLY. In an MMA bout one should never be able to say a fighter has mounted another fighter in 4 consecutive rounds . . . and went to a decision. That speaks to a tremendous inefficiency at finishing opponents. Shame on fuckin' Shields.

Shields is in there with an old Dan Henderson who does not have a comparable ground game to Shields as evidenced by Shields mounting Hendo in 4 consecutive rounds. So it's abundantly clear that one person is light years ahead of the other in BJJ. The submission was imminent, it's just that Jake Shields is inefficient. The guy did no damage via gnp and didn't attempt any serious submissions, he just decided to sit on Dan's chest and embarrass Cesar Gracie Jiu Jitsu. It's not as if he had to worry about Dan submitting him from the bottom. All things were in his favor yet he still was able to muster up nothing but neutralization of Dan's strengths not the application of Shields'.
So, yeah, when you're a BJJ black belt and your opponent has no ground/submission game to speak of and you've managed to mount him . . . 4 times . . . that is a death sentence.

I'm sorry but your comments reveal your ignorance when it comes to Gracie Jiu Jitsu. To quote Rorion Gracie from a recent Inside-Kung Fu "against a much bigger and stronger opponent, the only reliable strategy is to enter the fight with 100-percent concern with avoiding defeat at all costs and waiting for them to create and opportunity for you." Henderson is a veteran of the sport and to say he has "no ground/submission game to speak of" is entirely laughable. It's obvious from my perspective that Dan had enough know how to deprive Shields of the opportunity to stop him. Please keep your misguided comments to yourself next time. K thanks.

Ok, you're a moron. He has no submission game. That's a fact. It doesn't matter how many years he has in the bank or how much of a "vet" he is, he does not have a submission game. Whether you choose to acknowledge it or not is entirely up to you but what you can't do is claim otherwise. And the quote that you're talkin' about more aptly applies to shit like Royce Gracie vs. Dan Severn where you really have a much bigger and stronger opponent not to Henderson vs Shields where you have a weight-drained bigger, stronger opponent who, by virtue of his weight drain, sapped the very strength advantage of which you speak. Oh, and by the way, what did Royce do to the Greco-Roman Wrestler who was REALLY much bigger and stronger? He submitted him. Now what did Jake do to the weight-drained Greco-Roman wrestler whom he mounted in 4 consecutive rounds. . . nada. And it's not that Dan had enough to stop Jake, it's that Jake didn't do enough to stop Dan. That's it, no more, no less. Shame on Jake. That's like sayin' Maia or Cote had enough know-how to prevent Anderson from doing what he wanted to do. This is not so. It was entirely the other person who didn't do what they were supposed to do. Make sure you get it right. Know what the fuck you're watchin'.
P.S. Do you know how often Fedor has gone into a fight not being the bigger and stronger guy and has reached a dominant position and then sought to and finished his opponent. You gotta have the will, not just the know-how.
P.P.S. You're an imbecile and I'm through with you.

Way to be jackass. Have you ever seen Dan Henderson fight? Clearly he has an excellent ground game. Take for example this clip from Dan versus former ADCC open weight champion Ricardo Arona from their fight in Pride. Disregard the shitty music and watch how Dan sweeps Arona and escapes from bottom multiple times.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
That is what a prime Henderson could do against one of the best grapplers in the world at the time. Don't believe it? Go watch Arona's fight with Fedor from RINGS in which Arona lost a controversial decision and tell me he doesn't have ground skills. You can best believe a prime Henderson would have fared much better however clearly he doesn't have the mobility to compete in the Jiu Jitsu department anymore. The man is ancient but he still knows how to defend himself and survive as evident by the Shields fight.
I know its unfortunate Shields had nothing in the power department to contribute to the fight and that the fight wasn't very exciting. But what did you want Shields to do exactly?
Why must you bring up Fedor. Jake Shields is not Fedor. He doesn't have the gnp that Fedor has because its not a matter of simply doing it.
If this fight and the recent GSP fights say anything about MMA its that its hard to submit an opponent who is just trying to survive.
Your stance is nonsensical and plain offensive to fighters. I suggest you educate yourself and take a BJJ class so you don't have to pretend like you know whats going on.

This card showed why MMA will never be more mainstream. The majority have people have no interest in watching a guy straddle another guy for 5 rounds. I can only assume that the future of MMA will all be wrestlers with no boxing ability.:-(
