Reigning WBO bantam king Gerry Peñalosa will get his cherished rematch with WBO superbantam champion Daniel Ponce De Leon earlier than expected if he agrees to a proposed December 8 showdown with the power-punching Mexican.

The bout is slated to be on the undercard of the December 8 Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Ricky Hatton superbout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The MGM was also the venue to history's richest boxing event, the May 5 Oscar De la Hoya-Floyd Mayweather battle which broke all Vegas attendance and pay-per-view records.

Reports coming out of Las Vegas that the holdup to the December 8 bout is the purse money being offered to Peñalosa, which sources say the Filipino boxing champ plans to negotiate to get a better deal.

"The money being offered is reasonable, but Peñalosa believes that considering the caliber of Ponce De Leon, that he should be given an amount commensurate to the risk involved," said a source.

Earlier, it had been revealed that a Peñalosa-De Leon fight is being groomed to take place sometime in February in the Philippines.

Another Mexican fighter, ex-world champ Jorge Arce, has also expressed interest at fighting the popular Peñalosa, even trying to start a fight at the Mandalay Bay last Sunday when he approached the Filipino boxing champ right after the Pacquiao-Barrera showdown, and verbally challenged Peñalosa to a fight.

Interesting match-up. I like Penelosa so long as he doesn't age overnight. I know he's already kind of old for a lower weight class fighter but he still has the tools to make it happen against that wild swinging caveman.:bbb

Now I have the reason to Donate Money to Arrogant Floyd Funds just because I want to see Penalosa-De leon. They better Pay Penalosa what he wants. Coz I'm buying not because of Floyd but because Of Penalosa.

Penalosa was winning the last fight as far as I am concerned. De Leon may have learned from his mistakes though...

Pretty much a pointless and predicatable fight, atlest Penalosa will be able to retire with his WBO bantamweight title...well I atleast I hope he retires after this fight.

This is a great card though, defintely worth the $50 than the ODL/PBF card.
