EABA is the abbreviation for European Amateur Boxing Association...
I'm aware of this.
The EUBC stands for the European Union Boxing Confederation. This also falls under the AIBA, but the EABA is, I guess, also for non EU member states.
However the upcoming European amateur boxing championships are organised by the EUBC:huh
I also can not find the official website of the EABA..

The EABA ceased to be, it was replaced by the EUBC, I wasn't aware of this as well. Apparently the AIBA had her own European subdivision paralleling the EABA and they merged to form a new single European organisation for amateur boxing.

I was gutted to hear Sheehan wouldn't be ready in time, he's a very good fighter and at such a young age(especially for his weightclass) has the potential to become a top quality fighter.

There are four names on that list I am not at all familiar with, not the least of which is the superheavy. Should be interesting to follow the new crop along with recent shooting stars such as Mekhontsev.
I am amazed Beterbiev has not turned professional.:huh If he were American or British, someone would have dumped millions in his lap by now.

Also, found out who the Russian superheavy is. He's the third-ranked guy in Russia, with no huge achievements. Appartently, the sparring sessions before this championship got so intense the number 1 - Niaz Faizulin and the 2nd ranked guy both got taken out of play through injuries.

I saw the match. Makarov boxed smart and simply did everything better.
Damn. I can't get the streams to work. Anyone else have the same problem?
Quite an upset. Oh well. Very surprised about Kuzmin beating Camarelle! He wasn't even supposed to go to this tournament. Backing him for gold now!

HUGE UPSET. Was Cammarelle off? Was the scoring fair? Did Kuzmin improve that much?

Bulgaria had two in the semis from five fighters. One of them is younger brother of Kubrat Pulev - Tervel (91) and the other is talanted Mladen Manev (75), who is carrying the nickname - The Ninja.

England have four fighters in the semis - would've been five if Bradley Saunders hadn't been stopped on a cut when four points up.
Not bad when you consider this is pretty much a new team - even some of last years domestic amatuer champs have turned pro; hopefully the core of this team will stay amateur till 2012.

Unlikely unfortunately. The allure of turning over is usually too much. Look at a huge talent like Ronnie Heffron - awesome boxer who went pro right out of the amateurs. He would have been a huge bet for London 2012.

I think the natural talent has always been there but the introduction of the High Performance Program has facilitated the talent being developed and nurtured. The lads are really treated like professionals - they are looked after financially which allows them to train to full time and have access to some of the best coaches, sports nutritionists, physios, doctors and sports psychologists in the country.

Reminiscent of Cuba at the Pan-Am Games '91.
Cuba had 11 fighters in 12 finals in 1991, winning all 11 and it was held in Cuba.
In the 2006 European Championships (in Bulgaria) Russia had 11 fighters in 11 finals winning 9 of them.

I think Khromov is a very good head coach - better than Lebziak was, and with proven ability to deliver results. This is not on par with some of Russia's past dominant performances, but I think there are more strong guys from other countries these days. Ukraine, England, Ireland have improved significantly.

Russia took Gold in the four heaviest weightclasses. That is pretty badass, dominating the big boy weights. I am not suprised, seeing how Russia's third rated superheavyweight dethroned a dominant guy like Cammarelli.
While Mekhontsev and Beterbiev are clearly best in the World, I am not entire sure about Russia's guy at 75 kg!

Lomachenko, who outclassed everybody en route to winning 57kg gold here two years ago, has pulled out of Saturday’s draw to allow younger teammate Dmitro Bulenkov to compete."

No doubt. The light heavyweight division is in bad shape. It needs a new king. Beterbiev is a true pound for pound type of talent.

Russian Federation's 91+ kg class is going to get very crowded when Romanchuk returns. I have a feeling some citizenship papers may be filed by other former Republics to claim the overflow. Not unlike what occurs in Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.

Will Romanchuk fight at SHW? I wouldn't mind seeing him fight for Ukraine but with Usyk it would be hard to make it. If he fought at SHW pehaps he could beat out Kapytonenko

He also beat Povetkin and was a very good boxer. The problem with him was that he was a bit chinny, and I'm not convinced of how he would have converted from amateur to pro stylewise.

I would have bet my right testicle that Lezin would not have been durable enough for the Professional ranks. His victory over Povetkin was a gift.
I am not auditioning for captain obvious but... Timurziev mas made for Professional boxing, if not for his myriad of medical afflictions.
Now all Romanchuck has to do is come back from being shot in the head. GOOD LORD! Russian boxers seem to have far more obstacles than most.
