Awesome fight but it was stopped prematurely.......
Agree it was a premature stoppage but it wasnt going to last much longer anyway.

It was one of my favourite Calzaghe fights, along with the Eubank fight. The stoppage may have been a bit early, but to be fair Mitchell was gone.

Fucking hell that fat Dave Paris stands In the way of the knockdown punch!
Good stoppage though, Mitchell was staggering after Joe knocked him down.

These rounds show pretty much all of what Calzaghe is about. He throws tons of punches/slaps with decent accuracy. The real danger in his punches comes with orientation. Those that go left-right (vice versa) are by far the most dangerous as the opponents head gets hit on the left while moving to the left (vice versa). In order for JC to hit with the shots going left-right (vice versa) he needs to come in close. So Kessler, keep your distance, throw some heavy ones and you should be fine.

Hard to keep your distance against a champ with such quick feet, not to mention that he punches from odd angles coming in. Kessler's in for a long night.

Great fight, Joe is a world class fighter and his is the record and legacy not to be forgotten or descredited. Came out from the deck to knockout Mitchell, hell of a fighter. Cheers.

It was a fine recovery from Joe, and he showed what a great fighter he is. His hooks combos were also delivered with great pace and precision.
Kessler, however, has the tools to deal with Joe’s style. Kessler’s coolness, his jab, his right hand, his pin point accuracy, his overall balance and footwork together with his ability to judge distance (his harmony of hand and eye) will do the work for him, I think. But it could very well be a hard 12 rounder for both fighters. :bbb

Yes it is! But how much slower is Kessler actually? I'm not sure it is that much. Also what I like about the clip is JC's capacity to come out like
"shot out of a cannon". I believe the latter fact poses a serious thread to Kessler. MK needs to have a game plan to keep him out of trouble if JC comes at him from the very start. As things settle so will JC.

Calzaghe will put on an Ironn shirt and chase Kessler out of Eurth!

Some of you computer wizards out there ought to make a comparison of speed of movement of JC and MK. How about a layered video like you have in skiing. Then we can settle the issue of speed for good, potentially taking one more point away from the JC nuthuggers.

Calzaghe Is the faster fighter, barely anyone denies this.

The superimposed video idea wouldn't work. We'll only really find out when they're in the ring together.
Great fight vs Mitchell... to think that Calzaghe is much better these days is scary.

"The superimposed video idea wouldn't work."
May I ask: Why?
I think you missed something like ......"....because..."...... Come again.

......"....because..."...... the said boxers react to what's in front of them and don't stand there shadow boxing in the ring. You cannot guarentee the opponent is standing the same distance away in both videos. Also, how do you account for speed of thought or a change of punch? The style of the opposition they are facing also determines how often they could throw punches. It just wouldn't work for some of these reasons and more. I thought this was obvious.

Why don't you just face the facts? It still looks pathetic when the nuthuggers shy away from it. Let's have a look and see what comes out of it. That's another reason for liking this 2-round clip with JC.

Great fight. Love the way Calzaghe looks really focused and ready to go to war, when he gets up.
I hope to see Kessler knock him down, almost just to see how he reacts. A lot of heart and pride. Kessler never guns for the kill though, and I think he can handle a wounded Calzaghe.

That was some fight. No doubt JC slaters will say it was against a man years past his peak. Mitchell was a hell of a tough nut.
