just thought id mention this fight to see how many people on here have seen this classic war,its just that no1 ever seems to mention it,for those who havent seen it,the fight was gattis 1st defence of his ibf super feather title he won off tracy harris patterson.it was a toe to toe war from start to finish by rnd3 both gattis eyes were badly swollen&he'd been dropped with a straight right/left hook counter in rnd2,after being on the verge of being stopped 3times gatti rallied to drop rodriguez with a body shot in the 5th(which broke a few ribs)then ko'd him in the 6th with a perfect left hook to the jaw,at the end of the fight roy jones called it the fight of the year& larry merchant said "people will be talkin about this fight for years",sadly i think he was wrong which is a shame because this fight was better than gatti/ruelas&for action&sheer drama is up there with gatti/ward 1.anyone remember it?

Hell yeah I remember it.

Was an amazing fight.

I saw an interview with Gatti, and they asked him what he thought when he got knocked down.

He said he had just bought a car or motorcycle (forgot which one), that he couldn't afford, and really needed more big future pay dates. Basically, that helped motivate him to come back and win.

Was an amazing fight, with an awesome knockout.

Gatti is my all-time favorite fighter, and this fight was a stepping stone towards me falling in love with him. (In a non-homo sexual way) :D

Unbeleivable fight, I can't see why some guys rip on Gatti for being a "glorified club fighter" he was damn good at what he did, few could stand toe to toe with him and come out on top, just because he had a bad defense is no reason to knock him. This was a great fight indeed, I dont think many champs today would go through the punishment Gatti took in mostof hes fights and still come back like he used to do time and time again.
