There has been widespread speculation that Graham Earl would be announced as Amir Khan's next opponent with many assuming this is a done deal. An announcement was due to be made last Thursday but ****** has stalled on confirming who will face Khan next.

According to the local press in Luton today, Graham Earl says Khan's team has backtracked and he has given them until Monday to decide as he is not sure if they want it and hes not prepared to hang around anymore. Earl says he has been held back a long time and if they back out again he'll pursue either a rematch with Katsidis or someone like Gavin Rees.

Earl says theres a £3 million (maybe more) investment behind Khan so they are picking their fights carefully. Earl was at ringside for Khans recent fight against Lawton to "push things along".

I always had my doubts that Khan would be allowed to face guys like Earl or Thaxton this early. I predict ****** will find some more "confidence builders" for his investment, whilst Earl will have one or two more career shortening fights.
Earl will be blamed for the fight not happening and this will be the reason Khan has to fight another fall guy.

LOL, I am sure Earl is a very decent fella, but even if he was only given a months notice; he is unlikely to turn down a £50,000+ pay day.

yeah just like ****** and his fighters said it will go huh........ Arthur would be fighting Guzman, Macarinelli would fight Wilson or Cunningham and of course Khan is going to fight Earl next.

the reality is Steve Foster Jnr, pehistoric Ezra Sellars who has been hibernating for 3 years and probably a rematch with Drilzane for egg-chin Khan.

Now matter how much I want to defend a British prospect I just can not do it with Khan. The kid has serious talent but the hype machine is killikng him for me. Just put him in with a good puncher so we can get all the bullshit settled. He will either come out the other side looking a world beater or a joke, at some point he has got to step up.

Not sure that Earl will get any sort of confirmation today.

According to Sky News, Khan is today (Mon 15th) appearing at Bolton Crown Court for trial charged with dangerous driving. This relates to a matter from last year allegedly involving his BMW and a pedestrian.

In a separate matter other sources state that Khan will also stand trial on Oct 26th for an alleged 140mph speeding offence and failing to produce driving licence and proof of insurance.

driving offences, big ego, managed by family, surrunded by hype and "yes men" :patsch where've we heard that before?

i agree that khan needs to have his chin tested, again, just so we can put a stop to the bullshit. if khan does have the talent to reach the top, imagine what his easily excitable fan base will be like then! they're bad enough now and he hasn't even acheived anything of note.

Thaxton will be easier.

Because Thaxton struggles with taller fighters and Khan's better than Stewart and Lawton. Plus Jono has headmovement but he keeps one hand down and he was still getting hit by Stewart.

Earl's hands are up and has a tight guard and doesn't mind having a war and he might have the Inside advantage and If on the ropes could possibly land hooks on Khan's chin like he did with Kat.

but does ****** ever announce Khan fights so early?

Yes.

Khans last opponent, Scott Lawton, was confirmed approx. 7 weeks in advance.

Earl was offered a fight with Khan but turned it down. Khan fought Limond instead

i remember earl was mandatory to thaxton's title before stewart. i wonder if FW made him pull out so he didn't have the chance to steal khan's thunder?

I think the longer it goes on with no confirmation the more likely it becomes that Khan will just face one of 'the usual suspects' again -light hitter, low KO rate, etc.

I hope this doesn't prove to be the case because the standard of his opponents really does need to be raised.

That is bullshit from Earl.

Khan Team got nothing to do with this.

Earl should be aiming at Frank ****** for deal talk, not Khan Team.

I can sort of understand Earl's motives. A fight with Khan, which he will undoubtedly lose, will give him one last decent payday in a rather less than glittering career before he retires

You're a funny guy, you OUT and a lot of what you say is true! Apart from the Hatton-related stuff, of course!

Do Khan and his team genuinely not have a say in who he fights?

Doubt it, poor old Asif does not even get to lead him into the ring anymore.

Earl has been announced as the opponent for the Dec 8 fight.
