but seriously sister sledge, it's a bit too late too catch up as we are already in the 8th week but you can still join for the hang of it. post who you think would win and how. ie, fighter A by ko, tko, UD, SD, MD etc. you earn extra points by correctly predicting what round it will end. extra points are also available if you predict if it will a close or wide UD

You're top spot is going to be mine mate.:yep

But I fear that you're going to be in the top 3 until the end of this year, even though you predicted originally that you wouldn't even be able to hang with the top guys, isn't it funny how that turned out?:yep

Turns out you've been #1 about 5X more than everyone else has.

Glad you're participating Northend, I am also keeping track weekly of who scored the highest amount of points that week and at the end of the year I am going to announce two 'secondary awards'.

One being who had the 'highest score' for one week and the second being the 'highest riser', in which Astola came in very late and currently has a respectable 120 points for only 3 weeks of competition, you're also getting up there, so it's not all at a loss for coming in late.

Next year I am sure you'll be battling for the top spot the entire time.:good

He's been online this week, has posted, so if he loses his spot, it certainly isn't our fault.:D

The issue is that I am competing head to head with him and DanePugilist and if I take the lead, I want it to be for superior predictions and not because of the default reason of someone not posting their predictions.:yep

I usually give my predictions on Thursday night or Friday morning because I have school all day from Monday-Thursday and I need a few hours to analyze all the matchups for the weekend and make bets. So you guys don't need to worry, I'll be posting here every week.

Is there any way someone could make this thread a sticky so more people would get involved?

Next year we will be doing such for the 2008 league. It's going to run ALL year long and with the same scoring procedure, so I hope we get 50 posters involved with this.

Though, each month I'm going to keep the scores documented on paper as the site is due for a crash sometime in 2008 again.

I hope you're smart and you pick Povetkin by KO too. I'm gonna be in your position next week, running around all over the place excited and counting down every minute before the match happens. :bbbThere's nothing more exciting than seeing someone you've followed from early on in their pro careers rise up and win a title. In the back of your head, are you nervous about the possibility of Bute's chin getting cracked tonight? It would be great for you if Bute actually got hit hard on the chin by Berrio a few times.. then you wouldn't have to worry about his chin at all in the future.

I am a Povetkin fan, so will be glad to :nod when you hype him!:good Of course I will pick Povetkin by KO!

...In a way, I'd rather Bute didn't have to go through this danger...chances are he will be checked quite a few times tonight by the best chin checker in the division...On the other hand, I agree with you that it's better to be checked by the best this time around than later, when you are more well-known, and have fair-weather fans who would turn against you if you lost one...Thus, I was glad in a way when I heared that Bute would go in with a puncher because I wanted him to be tested by the best and still get the upper hand...I hope it doesn't happen, but if Bute is KD'ed...I know he will do his very best to get up again...still, when you talk about Berrio, you don't talk about a chinchecker - you would have to have an IRON chin, not just a very good chin, not to go down when he hits you flush...

...let's see...and keep our fingers crossed.

Aaaaghh.. Michael Gomez got knocked out in the 6th. I thought the fight was 50/50 and if he won I would be on top. Now I'll probably be in 3rd or 4th next week. :| This shows how much 1 fight can matter in this league, especially when you factor in the +20 points for getting all five correct.

Nice to know you're going for Povetkin. I can't believe there are a lot of people on this forum that actually think Byrd is going to beat him. Same thing with the McCall fight today. I can't understand why so many people, including very knowledgable fans picked him. I guess being a name guy means a lot.

Yes...those who pick according to which fighter sounds more famous often pick wrong.
