View Full Version : Malignaggi vs. Juan Diaz AKA Battle of the feather fists...
If this were to take place at junior WW ....Who wins??? It's a tough choice! Definetly would be a REALLY interesting one. I think I'd slightly favor the Baby Bull but you know Malignaggi won't back down as he already took on the most relentless fighter at 140 in Miguel Cotto.
If Pauli can establish a jab and move, he could edge out a decision against Diaz.
What Diaz lacks in power in regards to Cotto, he makes up for in activity. But still, I have to think that if Pauli could handle the preasure of a Cotto who was soon to move up in weight like he did, that he could find a way to beat Diaz.

Malignaggi by UD
His jab, better overall speed, and lateral movement being the keys.

Malignaggi/Diaz is another scenario folks. Take note that Paullie canbox pretty well. He can fight while moving in all directions and tha fact that he is a natural 140 lber . . . I can see him sneaking out a decission win against the Baby Bull. :yep

Are you calling Juan Diaz "feather fisted"?? You can't be serious?

Diaz cannot throw a bomb...he throws arm punches but those arm punches are solid shots. He does not have serious power but he makes up for it with accuracy and speed.

Disagree 100 percent. Those shots he was hitting Julio Diaz with were not arm punches. Give me a break. This is a silly thread. He didn't knock Freitas out with "arm punches."

I think Paulie would beat Juan Diaz is a really good fight but I think Paulie style is all wrong for Juan but it would be a really good fight between two really good young champions.
The reason Cotto lost rounds was due to not throwing enough at some points in the fight. His stamina at 140 was certainly an issue. Juans work rate is phenomanel, and I think he would have the goods to eventually get inside and just beat Malignaggi from this position. Malignaggi is fairly one dimensional, and unlike Floyd doesn't really feel comfortable fighting from close quarters. Juan Diaz UD.
I would take my man Malignaggi for sure.. C'mon now, he took cotto's best punch for 12 rounds so what makes you think that juan's featherfist would do anything??
Malignaggi would box circles around Diaz and land some good counters and he would have enough to sting a lightweight diaz.
Malig UD Diaz
Diaz isn't feather fisted. He throws his punches hard, he just doesn't have natural one punch KO power like a Trinidad or Tszyu. Still not feather fisted though.

I understand what your saying but Cotto not throwing enough in that fight was due to Paulie Jabbing and moving around. The thing that Juan does wrong is that the when a fighter throws he takes it and then he throw his fast combo's. I think this would be a really good fight but I think that Paulie style is just the right style to beat a fighter like Juan Diaz.

I don't think feather fisted is such a bad thing. I know they don't carry the power in their punch but if they have speed they can hit you enough to make you quit. Really how many punches can some1 land and it not effect you or at least slow you down? It's easier to take one big pinch than it is to take a lot of punches in a fight.

As long as Paulie won't try to be stupid as going toe-to-toe with the 'Baby Bull' just like what Julio did.

Malignaggi's best chance would be to control the tempo and BOX his way to a win. Diaz is getting guys to fight HIS fight, ad that's the best way to lose, fight another guys fight. I don't know if Malignaggi has the self control to stay within his means at this point and box his way through adversity. He's still a little green in my book.
