This will be interesting, Peter had a helluva time dealing with Mcclines power how is he gonna cope with Maskaev who's got heavier hands than Mccline??:tired
You would be a fool to bet on this one..

Wow...looks like the Sam Peter band wagon has fell apart. I will still take Peter by Ko, everyone has a bad night, now and then. Peter's was pretty bad, but he did recover and gutted out the win. I believe he will be more prepared for Maskaev, and will want to make a statement.

Maskaev is still open to Peters bombs, Maskaev is not known for a good chin either. I honestly dont see this one going the distance, someones geting layed out in this one.
This fight will be very enertaining, and I cant wait to see it. If Sam Peter could knock out Maskaev it would be great confidence booster for him, and could lead to a PPV battle between Peter/Wlad 2

Finally we get this fight...its been over a year in the making.
The McCline fight does nothing to change my pick (Peter by KO) although I feel a little less confident than I did before.

This should be a short fight, Maskaev at 38-39 will have to go for broke early it's hard to see him going deep into a fight at that age against a guy like Peter who can whack like hell.
On the other hane Oleg can land a bomb that would KO Peter if Mccline almost had Sam out why can't Maskaev???:deal

Peter's power will get a real test here,Maskaev took all Hasim had and KO'd him. I don't think Peter has more power than Rahman. Peter's just a raw club-fighter heading for nowhere. I'm picking Maskaev by KO.

Rahman does have better power, or at least a better ability to effectively use his power, making him more dangerous in the power category.
Best guys Rahman has KO'd:
Lennox Lewis
Corrie Sanders
Kali Meehan

Vitali will be back to his old form for these following reasons:
1. He's always in shape
2. He's not that old.
3. The damage has been surgically repaired .
4. He said so, and that's enough for me.
Why would he want to come out of retirement only to cancel at the last minute? :huh Many other fighters would've just taken the big payday & prayed that they landed a big punch. I admire Vitali for wanting to be at his best.

Vitali is having problems in his training camp, wether it be injuries or his sparring partners knocking him down left and right, the guy is not 100% and never will be. Hes what 37 and hasnt been able to make it through a camp since 04, its time to hang em up.

Vitali might have something left to give, and that something may be enough to beat anybody out there, but it's likely that he is not what he once was. The 3+ years off, the injuries, and the failed comeback attempts are indications that his body can't perform at the level it once could.

im confused. what's all this talk about vitali fighting winner of peter/maskaev?
i thought today he announced that he was going back into politics. wants to run for mayor of kiev?
there is no way he can run for mayor AND train for possibly his final fight. (im guessing even if he was going to fight the winner, it would only be to hold the belt the same time as his brother for historical reasons and nothing more).

Sam will actually fight the guy he prepares for months for... this time. He will see Maskaev's punches much better than the giant McCline's and will block many of them. He will be able to land his jab on Oleg with ease. I see a motivated Samuel Peter winning this fight by TKO, later rounds. :good

for me the fight will be decided on at the weigh in. peter will have to be in shape better than he was for wladimir. that fight he was at 243 from memory. so this fight he'd have to hit that mark, and the lower he goes the better. anything under 240 will mean he can walk oleg down all night until he lands those combos.
if peter is out of shape, oleg will use the ring constantly and play it safe by using jabs and straight rights.

Exactly. Peter may have shown some *****s in his armour in the McCline fight, but unlike Maskaev, he got up and won the fight. Peter's chin may not be granite, but it's not GLASS like Oleg's either!

why are some people saying that maskaev has more power than mccline? because he ko'd sedreck fields twice? he didn't knock out any top 10 guy. and he has one of the worst chins in the division. if you want to win against peter you gotta be a masterful boxer (no) or have a good chin (no no). so maskaev is going down.

I used to think Peter would win by early knockout. Now I am unsure. Maskev hits harder than McCline and has great technique. Can Peter take it?
Un-defeated punchers have a confidence that comes from knowing they can get you out of there. However once they hit the floor, they lose their mojo.
If Peter lost his confidence, I think Maskev will defeat him.

Peter probably has confidence problems, now, and Maskaev's confidence will be boiling over.
Maskaev can crack, no question, but Peter has good power, too (although not what everyone thought it was)
But I think Oleg's better boxing skills will alllow him to crack Peter before Peter cracks him. :good

Who said finally? That term was used for Holyfield-Tyson which happened in 1996 and was first suggested for March 1992... Vitali to take on the winner of Maskaev vs Peter is a story that has been around since Maskaev fought the "much-deserving" Peter Okhello in Moskow ages ago... Then, if Wlad decides to fight Peter in the meantime, will the WBC streap him of the interim title like they did to Shane when he decided to fight Cotto for the WBA's? And Vitali may fight whoever is a champ whenever he pleases to?... I give no credit to the WBC HWT Title, the WBC interim HWT Title, Maskaev, the aforementioned Maskaev-Peter bout, Vitali's emeritus status and to the WBC HWT ratings...
